Nadal US OPEN Predictions

Well the last time Nadal was out of action and took a break for a month,he came back to win the next slam...so you never know.Cant count him out in any case. He's improved so much. He's reached the semis and there's no reason to believe he cant do well here by going further.

Since he owns Fed in H2H, he is going to be in USO finals to beat Fed yet again!

Heh,well I'd still give Fed a fair shot if they meet there. That is Nadal's worst surface and Fed's arguably even best so despite "ownage" Fed definitely has a chance,I mean there's a reason Fed won 5 USO.Should be a great match if they meet, but it wouldn't really suprise me to see neither of them win USO this year.

I guess Nadal could be seeded 3rd by then so he may meet Federer in the semis. It would be awesome to see them finally face up at the Open but I think Federer would win.

I will guarantee that the USO officials will make sure that Nadal and Fed are not on the same side of the draw, even though it is supposed to be a "random" draw. The USO will make a lot more money if they meet in the finals. But I also highly doubt that Nadal will make it to the finals. It depends on who is in his half of the draw. On fast hard courts, Roddick, Murray, Tsonga, and Soderling can all beat him.

For that to happen, Murray would have to earn 210 more points than Rafa in Canada and Cincy.

The only reason Nadal beat Federer at the AO is because Federer served like crap and the worst ever in his career (due to his back injury). The way Federer served at Wimbledon, there's no way Nadal could touch him at the US Open.

Federer served well at Wimbledon last year and we all know what happened.

That's like wasting time thinking about what you would buy if you won the $200 million lottery.

It's like the AO 09 where you got CLOWNED.
6-2 in slams. Federer can't beat Nadal at Slams besides Wimby and even then it takes 4-5 sets against aganist pre-prime Nadal lol.

Fed was winning a lot from the baseline at AO. A lot. His serve / back let him down, though.

If you asked me whether Federer would be playing a 5th set against Nadal if he was serving at <= 50% I would have said absolutely no way in hell. But he was, so clearly the rest of his game was alright.

Works both ways would Nadal have won the 07 Wimbledon final if he didn't bust his knee at the end of the 4th?

If reaching the semis means winning the title, Federer would already have 23 Slams.

Yes but reaching the semis shows you're not that far off from winning that title. You act like Nadal lost in first round at USO last year.

He could have, we'll never know. That's not really relevant to whether Federer would have probably won the AO if he was serving well. It's not important, I am just saying that he served the worst I've ever seen him serve in that match and his back had something to do with it. The better player won in AO.

with nadals knees i don't see him winning USO. he starts hard court season in Montreal. that's a lot of hard court tennis for his crappy knees to take, even with the rest over wimbledon

You do realise Nadal won the Olympics on exactly the same surface as the USO right?
How many rounds are the Olympics? Is it best of 5 sets in each round? Did he have to play Federer or Murray or Roddick or Soderling or Berdych or Tsonga? I rest my case.

He beat then no.3 ranked Djoker who is a higher seed than Federer has had to beat the last 2 slams he has won.

The Olympics is not the US Open.

How many Olympic gold medals did Sampras win versus US Opens? Oh, NONE? Then I guess Sampras could NEVER even be remotely considered the GOAT, right?

The Olympics is something that's nice to have on your resume, but hardly a prerequisite in the discussion for greatness. Nicolas Massu won gold in 2004 for Christ's sake. Yay, Nadal's name can be spoken in the same breath as Nicolas Massu! Who the f*ck is Nicolas Massu?

Nadal would take that clown Kendrick to the cleaners.
You mean like when Nadal was only two points away from losing to Kendrick in the 2006 Wimbledon on green clay and barely pulled out the match 7-5 in the 5th set? Newsflash: The US Open is much faster than the green clay of '06 Wimbledon and Kendrick has a huge game for fast courts.

Remind what the hell Kendrick has ever done at the USO or in his career?

Ya in Nadal's 4th ever grass court tourney.... how old was Kendrick then 26, 27

Kendrick cant beat challenger tour players on hard courts....how do expect him to beat Rafa

Your argument fails. Nadal has one of the best 5-set records on tour, so it actually works in his favour. He also beat every one of those guys the last time he played them on a fast (non-clay) surface.

I say Nadal makes it to semi's but that's if he has a easy draw like last year but then you think of how he struggled against some opponents like Sam querrey so if nadal has a difficult draw then he will make quarters. One thing I know is that these predictions will go out the window if nadal has a good run in the masters

And it was only the second time Kendrick had ever played Wimbledon.

How many hardcourt challengers has Nadal ever won?

Exellent post

I love how people still think Tsonga and Berdych still challenge Rafa on fast courts

Yes, if and only if his game is on and that is a lot to ask from a journeyman. He's so streaky that it's actually hurts to watch.
