Tsonga and Del Potro post 2009 don't have better back hands than Roddick imo.

Cannot recall the Tsonga BH much for some reason. I think Del Potro was better but not a super shot too......

2009 Delpo for sure, not slice Potro though. Tsonga's backhand is bang average at best.

Del Po picked up his BH in parts of 17/18 again though i remember IW he was hitting well before his injury came back again. I mentionted Berdych and Safin being solid off both wings not Tsonga or Del Potro anyway.

Sampras was stronger mentally. I would say he is stronger mentally than all of the current player: Fedalvoiv included.
Sampras arguably also had greater competition. A much bigger variety of players across different eras and accomplished surface specialists.

That being said, Nadal has just accomplished more. Period. The Spaniard has also lasted longer and is still NOT done.
So while it breaks my heart to say this, Nadal is the greater player.

Ultimately though what matters more is how we feel. Sampras - the humble champion and the king of swing - will remain in the hearts of his fans as the best. Always.

I remember in 2014, when Nadal and Sampras were tied at 14 slams apiece, the Federer fans didn't tolerate anyone who said Nadal might at least be Sampras' equal. While Sampras had achieved considerably, Nadal had won at every slam, something that Sampras failed to do. I found their protests very strange.

But now a few years later, with Nadal considerably ahead, some Federer fans yet insist that Sampras is greater. In light of that, their protests in 2014 don't look that strange anymore
