NADAL WITHDRAWS FROM ROTTERDAM

The back injury has forced Rafa to pull out of Rotterdam. Wise decision. I did say his back was not right when i saw his missed smashes as one could see his preparation was way off.
If i am Tsitsipas i am questioning why at 22 i need 4 hours to beat a crocked 35 year old on his least favoured surface and perhaps thinking i need to be a big Eagle not a little bird.

I guess he's skipping Miami as well in order to prepare for the clay season.

Something was wrong with our Rafa. Losing to Tsitsipas?! From two sets up?
Come on man!
Well if people watch the match back he was toast after 2nd set as he was smiling and shaking his head after winning the set. Rafa never smiles during a match. No need to play until Monte Carlo really. No way he goes to Miami. Just cannot see any upside unless he fancies a rave on a boat at sea which they usually do as its Miami Sound Festival so he could take his yacht!!

He has enough time to recover for Roland Garros and give a new bagel to Djokovic.
Djokovic may skip clay and focus on W. Neither guy is getting younger. They need to manage their schedule. As long as fit they know they are better than the rest. Federer still their biggest rival.

Nah. I don't think that Djokovic is skipping any Slam at this point. Even RG. But yeah, Wimbledon should be his priority now that he's won AO.

EXCLUSIVE.
I did say i do not pay much attention outside the Majors and Indian Wells, Rome, Canada and Queens.
I get i am a bit slow on this. I have not seen a thread on it hence i made one. Apologies to all if you were all talking about it lol. My bad.

A 25 mm tear may heal but it will be still a bit weak. Clay requires bigger swings. He will make a massive mistake imho playing the clay. Forget Nadal, Thiem has his number on clay as well.
Most players say those tears take months to get fully over.

With Rafa and Novak out, Federer easing himself in slowly, we have around 2 months in lockdown of Tsitsipas Zverev Medvedev et al. If anything can defeat fan wars that realisation probably is it. I mean Zverev.

When Nadal is injured he is actually playing worse and withdrawing from tournaments. On the other hand, some other player...

How is he supposed to win the CYGS if he skips the French Open? You have to be trolling/joking to suggest he'll skip clay. He'll play Madrid, Rome and 100% certainty he'll play the FO. No way is he skipping a slam. He doesn't need any grass tune up, he's won Wimbledon multiple times while playing nothing but an exo or Eastbourne.

Absolutely not like 2019 USO fed. Roger in that QF was an error machine even in the sets he won, he never displayed the sheer brilliance of electrifying tennis that nadal made us mesmerized with in the first 2.5 sets vs Tsitsipas.

Roger was severely compromised, because otherwise he'd not have lost to Dimitrov even in his wild dreams, sir.

I watched that match. Dimi actually almost lost lmao

How does the rest of the year's calendar even look at this point? Are IW and Miami still being played? Is MC and the rest of the clay season still starting in April or is it being pushed back a bit?

IW is not being played. Miami and MC are being played. The rest is unknown, but as of now neither Madrid, nor Rome have been moved or cancelled.

Nadal is doing his usual: if the field of a small event gets too strong he will sit it out in favour of clay. I am surprised that he is not playing for a R3 loss and a fat check, but maybe the organisers are not allowing for such frivolities this time around, or maybe the stacked field doesn't necessitate the need for the organisers to pay the big stars to participate for once.

Edited do correct.

If players like the big 3 were only doing it for the money, they would've retired 10 years ago....non-pro athletes like us all seem to be rather oblivious to how much time these athletes actually put into their craft

The only thing matters for him is FO. He can withdraw from every tournament here on and still will win 21st in May. So who cares about his injuries.

I think MC is being played. From their own website:

I expect most of top European players to skip that Atp250 tournament... Why should they risk trip in USA to play one event...
Real tennis is in Europe this spring...

Miami's paying almost a third of what they did last year, so why risk it for so little?

I think for top European players I was referring to money is not that important right now... They are all rich already and will earn millions in future for sure... It's too just too complicate to travel to USA to play only only one event... maybe 1000 points are more important than money for some of them...

Just saying, although I know why you actually reply to my post... :D

I didn't say that they do it only for the money, but one has to understand that they are professionals and don't let such chances go by: they know what they can command and do it well. 10 years of non-benefitting from the status that he has created would have put Federer at roughly - 500 million USD. That is a lot of money even for someone who doesn't do it for the money.

Nadal isn't playing a single HC tournament unless he has to. The dude skipped USO for RG . He doesn't care obviously what anyone thinks. It will hurt him in the goat debate in the long run, but he'll protect his bread and butter to keep his head afloat. Kind of annoying but that's just Nads for ya.
