Simply awsome tennis from rafa, but i only worry that he will play too much tennis before french open. i see that he is playing in barcelona next week too. Italian and then hamburg, maybe too much.
how many matches is that in a row on clay?
Second-seeded Rafael Nadal captured his third consecutive title at ATP Masters Series Monte-Carlo, following a 6-4, 6-4 victory over ATP World No. 1 Roger Federer on Sunday
The lack of class on the part of some Nadal fans (or maybe just a general fan) is unbelievable. I know you're excited that Nadal won the match, and has the best start the claycourt season he could possibly have, but this match was just over 30 minutes ago.
He played Barcelona and Rome for the past two years. He´ll skip Hamburg to exhaustion again. Fed will most likely skip Hamburg again as well. Unless he loses early again, to Canas.![]()
Please do not post match results in this forum "General Pro Player Discussion". Not everyone wants to know the result of a match right away, as they may be waiting for the match to be televised etc.
Please feel free to discuss match results at the new Forum - "Match Results".
"Spoiler" threads in this forum - "General Pro Player Discussion" will be deleted.
Thanks,

Is Canas playing in Barcelona, it would be interesting to see him play against rafa ? Just is case rafa has to play him in french. But knowing the goofy french tennis federation, they will make sure Canas is in Federer's half of the draw though.![]()

Yeah, Canas will be playing in Barcelona.. Lets see what happen next..![]()
anybody here think rafa will take ove no. 1 if he wins all the tournaments he plays in? (barcelona, italia, hamburg, and French Open)

What? Makes no sense.unlikely, fed has been doing great too, he just made the finals, but when roger wins, rafa will be number 1
Nadal got the job done today... no doubt. Federer didn't lose by much just didn't play the big points as well as he could have. I think Fed should be proud of his effort. If you go back and watch the amount of spin and depth Nadal hit to Fed's backhand, you'll see how difficult it is.
I like Nadal a lot but Fed will go down as the best player to ever to play this game and Nadal will be remembered as the guy that gave him a hard time on clay.

I can't read through all the threads and arguments about both of them; this might have already been posted:
WHAT THE PLAYERS SAID
Nadal: "I have to say it is an honour to be here up against him and to win for the third time.
“If you come to the court against the world No. 1 it's going to be tough. I was with confidence because I was playing my best tennis this week. The match was tough. I [thought at] the beginning he was playing better than me.”
Federer: “Congratulations to Rafa. I am very happy for him. What he has achieved is fantastic. I will try again to beat him in Rome, Hamburg and here in Monte Carlo next year."
“I'm not happy about the performance of my forehand. Rarely it happens to me, because it's my best shot in the game. I think I'm absolutely in the mix with him on clay, which is how I wanted to feel. You know, it's always disappointing to lose, but I feel like I didn't play well and still it was close. That's a good thing.
“I feel like I'm in good shape for the rest of clay court season, and it's going to come down to the French Open to see who wins.”
Rafa has no points to gain in those tournaments, unless he plays Hamburg, so it all depends on if Fed loses early in all of them, which is very unlikely. Plus, I have a feeling Roger will play Hamburg, where he has no points to defend.
