Nadal's big win.

He has now been in the semis of all four slams, a huge achievement. Can you guys name all who have done it in the open era? How about who's done it on 3 different surfaces? It's an exclusive club either way.

Nalbandian, Safin, Nadal, Agassi, Sampras, Federer, Laver, McEnroe, Lendl, uh.... a few others. Can't remember them so late at night.

i think many have reached the semis of all 4 slams, including pete sampras and novak djokovic. if it's in a calendar year, the list goes smaller into federer, nadal, etc.

There are quite a few who have. But either way, I'm proud of Rafa for making it so far. Good luck to him rest of the way.

Does this mean, Rafa can play on cement? I thought he was a clay courter. The surface is probably playing like clay.

I love it because Nalbandian is on the list. Easily my favorite player ever and probably his biggest achievement.

Edit: Conners too.

Great win indeed. Best I've ever seen Fish. He was fit and able to take the ball early. Just doesn't have the clutchness and he is error prone in ralleys.

Fish played a pretty bad match. He made lots of easy errors especially some makable volleys and smashes. If he had served and made his volleys we would have seen a tighter match with a chance for 1 or 2 tiebreaks and maybe 5 sets

He was making a lot of errors because he was taking high risk shots all match long. Kinda hard to not make errors with that style. I never felt comfortable in this matchup though. Nadal woke up though and adjusted to the speed of the court. It seems to be getting quicker.

Nah, the US Open is just slow right now. More like blue clay really.

Yeah, that's what I thought. Because I saw him slide from side to side on every point tonight. Fish is one hell of a clay courter he actually managed to win a set against Nadal.

Bravo Fish, you have a shot a Roland Garros next year!

They clearly are using a new clay compound that just looks like HC, but it is so slow Bolt would spend a few hours to run de 100 meters. Q, from the 007 movies, invented it.

Besides that, I´ve heard there are a few snipers trying to shoot Fed with mono particle every other point. And, in the top of that, some gossip around the circuit suggest Nadal is not a righty playing lefty, but a lefty playing a righty who plays lefty... Another proof of the evil mind behind those (of course non natural grown) muscles...

Well, now seriously, the Nad-Murray and (crossing fingers) Fed-Djok matches could be the best USO SF in many years... I hope we have the best tennis til sunday...

Nadal-Murray and even Federer-Djokovic or Federer-Roddick should be fun.Federer-Roddick though would be a serving match with very few rallies so hoping for Federer-Djokovic semis.
How will the semis be played?I mean which semi will start first and could it be possible to get in the night session if the first is a long one?

If I am not mistaken, I think NadalFreak predicted that people would say something like that if Nadal did well here. Good Call.

No... Nadal can't play HC just cause he won Toronto , Semi in Cincinatti, Gold Medalist in Beijing, at least Semi final showing at USO and the winner of USO Series. Maybe the courts are getting slower just like everyone said when he won Wimbledon.

Must mean Tennis is slower now no?

I agree that both semifinals should be sumptuous this year which is kind of rare. Both matches should be breathtaking and all semifinalists would have a shot at winning.

Federer has now made it to the semis of 18 slams in a row. No one else has even come close to that mark.

Edit. If he beats Muller today he has made 18 in a row.

Laver

Agassi

Federer

Keep in mind, most of the top players did not consistently play the AO until the mid 80s.

Djokovic is trash on grass.
Trash? This guy almost won tight Queens finals this year. Not telling hes the best player on it,but he isnt a trash grass player. If you are referring to this year`s Wimbledon,he just played unmotivated, uninterested and had bad performance overall because of this issues including mass unforced errors in it.

The semis begin at 11:00, so unless it rains, its not likely to get into the night session.
