Tell us something we don't know:roll:. I'm sure we know Nadal's amazing success on this surface. You don't need to fish for compliments about your precious Nadal because he's not going to be forgotten on the internet for a while.

So what are the excuses for each loss listed?

7 of those losses were in 2003, at the age of I'm guessing 16.

Pretty incredible.

I just listed excuses for the first 7, he was merely a child playing grown men.

Yep... those would have been at 16

The 2002 loss against Olivier Rochus was at 15 yo.

The Mallorca Open clay court tournament is now the Valencia Open 500 HC tournament :)

Praise his name. It like you are listening to church goers worshipping their idol.Sad sacks.

These are informative career stats from one of the best clay court players in history. I could not find a thread here on TT that listed all 16 of Nadal's career clay losses. Hence, the thread.

If you don't like any player or thread about that player, skip it then go on to the next. But, stop trolling around like a couple of dbags.

But do any of these losses "really" count? I mean isn't he hurt in all of his "losses"? I say he is undefeated on clay.

Wow, you're clever

Comming from a guy who believes he is a better player than Polanski. This is truly laughable.

He lost 2 sets on clay in 2010. 1 to Gulbis in Rome and the other to Almagro in Madrid.

Mustard, it would be awesome if you would create a new thread with all of Nadal's clay match wins you listed (perhaps with a similar title to this thread) :)

I think it would be helpful to keep them separate... for updating, searching, etc. Also, all that great info you provided got buried in this thread.

If you'd like, I'll create a new thread with the info you provided.

How about Andreev beating Nadal.

It's his latest loss I don't know excuse for. After that It has been fatigue, blisters, fatigue, knees. Only four losses in almost 6 years - incredible. What a streak it could have been if he intended to save himself more and skip some claycourt tourneys Just like he did in 2006 (hamburg) and 2010 (barcelona) - the years he didn't lose on clay.

Rafa played Costa do Sauipe, Buenos Aires, Acapulco, then that mindboggling final in Miami 2005 (his first big one). He needed a break, too many events that year (it would be his first clay sweep right after Valencia).

Soderling 2009: knee.

No. Soderling played the match of his life and was hitting 100-105mph groundies consistently ON THE LINES coupled with his 140mph serve. Nadal was running around fine in that match. Not playing his best but he wasn't injured.

Federer 2007 and 2009: exhaustion.

LOL. I thought Nadal was some physical beast who could play for hours. He is and that's why he managed to win the AO 2009 playing two 5 setters in a row which lasted a lifetime. You're telling me Nadal burnt out on clay when he can play two 4hr + matches in the Australian Open where the surface is tougher on the joints than clay.

Ferrero 2008: foot blister.

Ferrero was injured too.

Valencia 2005: overloaded schedule.

Getting desperate for excuses aren't you?

Anyway all I'm going to say is that Nadal's competition on the clay courts for the past 6 or 7 years has been lame at best. This was an era where Gaudio was FO champion.

The rest is when Rafa was still learning how to play on clay :)

That's right, Nadal never loses when he's 100%.

He however never wins when he loses, hence he only loses when he doesn't win, and that means he wasn't 100%.

Yeah, that's why Nadal then pulled out of Wimbledon. To make his injury excuse more believable

The so-called "excuses" or lack thereof, are irrelevant. Once the match starts, you're officially fit to play.

Or maybe he was 100% at the French Open..............

Then got injured after the French Open, but before Wimbledon. Did that thought ever enter your miniscule brain? Did it?

The AO is at the beginning of the season. Big difference...

So how are guys like Roddick and Hewitt (in his prime) still alive and healthy come the French Open? Please explain as they play a very physically demanding game maybe even moreso than Nadal as they grind or in Hewitt's case grinded even more than Nadal did.

By the way, Nadal won the US Open last year. Which means at the end of the year he is still effective. Plus he's made 2 other semifinals at Flushing Meddows.

But hey, what the hell. Nadal was clearly tired and never loses at 100%.

Of course Nadal can lose matches even if he's not injured and even if he's basically "fully fit". Yet, I do think he was injured during the Soderling (FO), Murray (AO), and Ferrer (AO) matches for example. If not, he is one hell of an actor lol. Nadal spends a lot of "physical capital" during the clay season for one thing. Roddick and Hewitt do not reach the finals of every clay tourney they play and they don't win the French Open and then go deep at Wimbledon as well, along with hard court success. Such results, in the manner that Nadal plays leads to wear and tear on his body. Nadal has had some losses due to injuries, but he's lost many matches during his career while fully fit. I see no reason to doubt that, unless Nadal routinely "faked" injuries just to avoid the stigma of actually losing matches despite being in good form. That seems very implausible to me, given just how hard Nadal has worked to improve and compete on the biggest stages in tennis. He is not someone that has gotten this far by approaching things that way. At the US Open, he played great, shortened points, and came into the tournament in good health (better scheduling before that tournament). So, a combination of factors made the US Open a success for him in 2010. In years past, he was not the same player as he began the US Open.

Why do people like to separate injury from a player's makeup so as to give more weight to "IF he was not injured....etc". Injury is as part of a players skill as is a good FH or movement, etc. You can't say "IF player X had the best FH he would be the greatest". OR "IF player X did not commit any UE's he would have won". 2+2=4 no?

Immediately after the French Open he didn't play any tournaments idiot, next time check things before calling other people names.

Can you not read, at all?

I said Nadal might have gotten injured after the French Open but before Wimbledon. However his injury might have carried past Wimbledon.......Meaning he was healthy at the French Open but pulled out a week later because of injury.

Is there something you don't understand about getting injured a week before a tournament?

Yeah he got injured while sitting at home... ******

Just curious have you ever stepped on a practice court and played tennis? Nadal getting injured in training isn't outide the realms of possibility.

But hey, tennis players don't train at all. When they aren't participating in tennis tournaments they are just simply 'sitting at home'. Tennis players certainly dont' train or play tennis outside of events do they?.

He released the statement confirming his injury after RG, seriously if you have no idea about what happened, why do you keep arguing? Do you enjoy embarrassing yourself?
