Nadal's last 12 slams

As far as I remember, It was only days after the Tiafoe match that he revealed his abs weren't completely healed. Before and after the match, there was no injury talk. Was he lying? No. But would he have beaten Tiafoe Rublev and Alcaraz? And 1 month later he was in Paris and completely healthy. I can buy that he wasn't at the top of his game during US22, but "injured"? In Wimbledon Fritz had a serious knee pain as well, both players were clearly struggling.

OP isn't wrong but yet Nadal wasn't favorite of any of these slams anyway. AO22 was a miracle and nothing can convince me he would have won the title if Djokovic hadn't been deported. Nadal hasn't been favorite of any non clay slam for years. The only conter example was US2022 because Djokovic/Zverev weren't playing, Medvedev was in poor form and Sinneraz weren't at the level they are today... Nadal had a cakewalk draw and still didn't win it. Injuries aren't the main reason why he doesn't win these slams. Even for RG2023, it's still a risky bet to claim he would've won. He lost 2 of the last 4 matches against Djokovic in Paris, and barely won the last one in 2022... And Djokovic 2023 was a much better player than in RG2022. At the end of the day I doubt the slam race would be different even with a healthy Nadal.
You are insanely biased. Almost all things you said are wrong. Nadal was %100 injured at Wimbledon where he was playing great and could have played final. Fritz idk.
There was a lot of talk about his serve in USO. More importantly it's not because of his serve that he lost he was moving horribly due to injury i suppose he later told that he broke his abdominal again Won't you people read anything?
Of course he could have still lost USO22 but Injuries were the main reason he lost.

Looks like you are trying to make yourself feel better saying that it wouldn't have made any difference or talking like Nadal wouldn't win any of these slams. Normally i wouldn't mention RG23 or 21 but you only look from your side.
So you say he lost 2 of the last 4 matches at RG.(1 out of the 3 would be accurate) You mean RG 15 would have been huge indicator of how their potential match can go in 2023. Then i can say Nadal won 8 of the last 10 matches.

I doubt any Djokovic fans think he was better at RG23 than 22.

In the end it is what it is. It's not Djokovic's fault that Nadal couldn't play those slams but i hate when some people talk like it wouldn't matter or Nadal wouldn't be favourite any of slams, wouldn't win any of those slams.

How many USO Djokovic win prior to this year or until 2022. 3. But almost in all hypothetical people assume that Djokovic would win.

As i said many times favourites doesn't win always.

Was Djokovic favourite at RG 21 RG23... Nadal at USO 19 AO 22... same for Federer.

You can't win the tournament if you can't play.

Would people talk as a missed opportunity had Federer didn't played AO 17 Djokovic Wimbledon 18 Nadal AO 22. There are much more examples like that.

He'd probably lead the slam count if not for injuries.
Injures whether due to bad luck, weak body or poor technique are part of the game. Federer was rarely injured until his mid-thirties, yet came back from his most serious injury to win three slams in his mid-late thirties. Chances are that Novak's body type and very careful care of his body, has allowed him to play so long without serious injuries.

It's fake when you quit and lose after getting injured but it's real when you win slams after slams injured ,sometimes giving a dominant performance en route to slam win after having a 30mm tear lol

So you will ignore the Facts that Nadal hasn't beaten Djokovic off clay since 2013. Worse, he hasn't won a set on hard courts against him in their last 9 matches, that includes multiple 6-1 and 6-2. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to claim that he can't beat Djokovic on other surfaces,... injured or healthy it doesn't matter. He can't even win sets. How will a healthy Nadal beat Djokovic in these Slams if he can't even push him?
You can think what you want. In 10+ years the only non-clay Slam Nadal won with Djokovic in the draw was USO2019, where the number 1 withdrew in the 4th round. Only exception. Anyone who claims he would've won Slams like Wimbledon 2022 or AO23 (if not injured) is seriously biased. Djokovic is the Goat of hard courts and Fedovic are co goats on grass. Nadal doesn't belong in the same category on these surfaces. Not even close.

Yes, I do think Djokovic from 2023 is a much better player than in 2022. Covid deportation and the aftermath had a huge impact on him, he wasn't at his best until the indoor season. Even in Wimbledon 2022 he was far from his best. Now Watch the last 2 sets against Khachanov, the first set against Alcaraz or the 2nd half of the final against Ruud. This version of Djokovic 2023 would obliterate the one from early 2022 any day, and Nadal barely won that QF (2-5 in the 4th, set points).

Maybe Djokovic simply handles injuries better. Out of the 24 Slams he won he was suffering from some injuries in 20 of them, if not more. He also lost in multiple Slams because of injuries in 2016-2017-2018 and threw away the 5 first seasons of his career because of allergies-asthma problems. You are just as biased if you think Nadal is the only player who had to deal with these kind of issues. What if Djokovic never had the elbow issue in 2016, maybe he would already have 30 Slams today. At the end of the day IF doesnlt work, he has 24 and Nadal has 22.

This whole injury faking accusations are nonsensical. Do players play through minor injuries often - absolutely that’s true in most sports. Do some overplay it for tactical reasons - most certainly and I put both RaFa and Djokovic in that category although in my head I dont get the advantage this strategy provides. Like if I say my hamstring is injured publicly wouldn’t half decent opponents exploit that and beat you - common sense 101 right!? Lastly I for one will always believe the player, if they say they are injured or carrying something I take their word for it. That said if they step on court, it’s fair game, if they get taken out don’t want to hear “if not injured I would have won blah blah”…you put up or shut up.

You are right on all points. Djokovic did look great physically after first few round issues with painkillers.

In 2022 he looked good. But we will never know these things. Honestly the night match is very bad for Djokovic. Maybe because the court was dead he looked worse than he actually was. But yes he barely lost the 4th set.

Also yes, I have no doubt Nadal wouldn't stand a chance vs Nole in AO 23, he never won a set in 9 matches and was washed in 2019. In Wimbledon though Nadal would give some fight.

If Nadal is to retire without much fuss by end of the year then the final gap between him and Djokovic will be devastating..

Slams would be probably 27 vs 22/23 for Nadal.
Probably 42-44 masters for Djokovic vs 36 for Nadal
Total titles for Djokovic would be over 105 vs Nadal maybe 93/94
Slam appearances for Djokovic would be probably 84 vs 70 for Nadal
Grand slam match wins will probably be 420 and Nadal just at 340
Total big titles would be probably 76/77 for Djokovic vs 60 for Nadal.
And top 10 wins for Djokovic would be probably 280 vs 190 for Nadal.

The gap is going to be incredibly large. At the end of the day, you have to have long career to have such numbers. Some of the numbers Nadal will end up with will be far behind Djokovic and also behind Federer because he just can't stay fitter.

One thread was deleted while I was writing a reply to you. I made a screenshot of your post addressed to me and now I only say that you were wrong.

How many times has Djokovic suffered from some mild issue at one moment in a Grand Slam. I can't even remember one when he was 100% healthy all along. He won AO with a hamstring tear, won RG with elbow issue, made the final in Wimbledon with shoulder pain and called 2 MTO for 2 different reasons at the USO but he still won in the end. ...
I made a screenshot of a video of one of your co-fans and use it to reply to your comment:

If Nadal was never injured since 2020 and Djokovic would play all the tournaments his entry was denied + W2020 that was canceled, I still think Djokovic would lead it. Sure, Nadal would've won 2021 and 2023 RG, but would've probably not won any of AO22, AO23, W20, W21, W22, W23, USO20, USO21, USO22, USO23.

Nadal IS active, Nadal IS playing.
Novak won more at the slams during Nadal's career.
Unable to play = Not good enough to win = less great player.
I must have missed Nadal last season then.
Thinknyou have just confirmed why nadal is seen as the greatest by sports fans. Unable to play and only then being overtaken for most sports fans is a legacy enhancer not detrimental.

At the clay slams you mean. 2 people won more hard and grass slams than him while he was playing.
Thats not how it works. Slams as a whole are counted. If extra credit is given to the most famous surface then its grass and Federer wins the pageant. Take your pick really.

He'd probably lead the slam count if not for injuries.

"Probably"? I know you hate Bull, but you should be at least somewhat Objective. Bull would definitely lead the slam count if not for injuries. In fact, he does lead the slam count, morally speaking, and by a very wide margin. Indeed, until the Australian Open 2022, he had never lost a slam match fair and square.

The less you win, the more you're great. Ok, I get it now. ;)

Its about who you beat and when and where. At slams Nadal did it best.
It doesn't, because how good a player is, is subjective. "weak era's" and all this nonsense, it's all just invented in your heads. The only factual information is Djokovic has 24, Nadal has 22.

Djokovic beat Federer 3 times at Wimbledon and Nadal 2 times at Roland Garros. Nadal beat Federer at Wimbledon only once and ZERO times Djokovic at the AO. Federer beat 1 time Djokovic at the AO and ZERO times Nadal at RG. Looks like Djokovic did it best.
While Djokovic is the best by a clear margin, Nadal beating Federer at 08 Wimbledon is more impressive then any of those victories by Djokovic(Federer had like 65 match grass win streak? As well as 5 Wimbledons in a row)

I mean, yeah, Djokovic had an easier task ahead of him, so of course he did better.

He is simply the best of these three and now by a large margin. The gap will keep growing.

More versatile than Nadal and more dominant than fed.
