Nadal's most emotional victories - from a fan's perspective?

I'll go with the top 3.

2008 W - Not much needs saying here. Third final in a row, chasing the holy grail against the king of grass, the near miss in 2007, the match point in 4th set, the rain delays, the darkness, the iconic celebration......
2017 F - After the dip of form of 2015 and then the injury in 2016 it did seem feasible that Nadal was done regarding slams. A combination of the wait and the big 10 made this pretty special.
2019 US - Seems strange that number 19 could seem so emotional. But there was something about the drama, the emotion Rafa showed at the end of the match and the feeling that this could be the last one - with age and how physically hurting Rafa was at the end.

Interesting in folks thoughts?

Do any of these make your top 3?

Victories are more emotional for fans when they are somewhat unexpected. For Nadal, it might be 2008 Wimbledon, 2009AO and 2013 USO as they were all wins against higher ranked players outside of clay. This year, I bet Djokovic fans enjoyed the French Open win more than the AO/Wimbledon where he was expected to win.

Other than the popular choices I will nominate 2019 Roland Garros. Mostly because, after watching Rafa live countless times in Barcelona before, as well as on several occasions at the clay Masters events, that was my very first Roland Garros experience. Obviously not an unexpected victory but I was thrilled to be in attendance for just one of his Major victories. Especially as I felt that time was running out...

2008 W final for sure - it was the most special

2009 AO final for me

2005 RG made me a fan

Any victory after 2010 is just bonus. I loved Rafa in 2000s just a lot more. He was just just a kid and had achieved so much!

Agree with all the above.

The UsOpen 2013 was also pretty great too.

fed fans give excuse that he lost the 2008 final 5th set because of poor light

but it does not explain why fed lost the first 2 sets when light was fine

pls correct me if i am wrong, i think fed was up a break in 2nd set but still lost it

2020 Roland Garros. #20, at least matching Federer for all of eternity, and in an absolute drubbing of his biggest rival. If only he could have slammed the door shut on them both in RG21.

2008 Wimbledon was the most important win, but back then I was a Fed fan who thought of Nadal as a clay court specialist who had been the only roadblock to Fed winning a few CYGSs. I had mixed emotions during that match, as Nadal beat my then-favorite and proved himself a true all-around great. 2010 (the season as a whole) cemented Nadal as my new fave.

W2008. Most memorable match of all time
FO 2020. Got the slam record although doin it during covid in an empty stadium dilutes it alot as Nadal has intimated numerous times
UsO 2010 he career slam achieved.
Honourable mention to FO2010. Revenge over Soderling in the final must have been very sweet.

2008 W final - greatest win of all time.

2009 AO final - it showed Nadal’s fighting mentality after SF against Verdasco.

2012 RG final - Nadal’s career would be corrupted if Nadal had lose Djokovic 4 matches in a row in GS final. This win may save his career.
