Flop early at WTF and be here at home with crowd support for Davis Cup.

Doctor/Lawyer Red Devil said:Did you see the manner in which Serbia were knocked out?
Doctor/Lawyer Red Devil said:There is definitely great national pride just to be clear, but not every reaction from the Serbs is related to the past injustices that the western scum in power delivered. Or to put it better, if anyone is mature enough to not have spite as their main motivation, it's these athletes.
Doctor/Lawyer Red Devil said:But don't question the commitment of participants, young or old, to this event that still means a lot to them. They obviously care, which makes the competition at least a little bigger than an exhibition. Otherwise they wouldn't have sacrificed a week of what is a short off season to begin with.
You're right! Federer's Davis Cup singles record is 52-8, thanks for bringing this up.Oddly enough we don't seem to talk about Davis Cup much when considering the greatest player of all time, but perhaps we ought to more.
I think the man from Serbia over here said this better than me. But I think it is time we start to stop looking at Serbs as if they have this sign over their head. I know Serbs that are really tired of being related to that war all the time. Move on.

not to mention that the rusty peak injured golden bull was always there when spain received azerbaidjan, liechtenstein or any monster team on clay, regardless of the danger.Nadal has lost 1 singles match in his entire Davis Cup career.
Levels!

the fact that he's been curiously absent for a certain number of indoor ties (e.g. vs USA and argentina, when davis cup was still davis cup) is probably just an unfortunate coincidence...
Before 2019 Davis CupHe's single handedly gotten Spain to this year's Davis Cup final on an indoor hardcourt. He's been the best player of the tournament by miles.
He's won 4 Davis Cups (possibly 5 by tommorow). Your salt is misplaced.
Nadal has shown tremendous fight and character in this Davis Cup.
But one can't help feel that this will cost Rafa in AO 2020.
The problem is that this extra push at the end of the year, if it means fewer slams in 2020 would considerably damage Nadal's GOAT claim. History has shown that Nadal is best at AO when he is well rested with a long off season.
So while Nadal is doing extraordinary and creditable things in the DC, the harsh reality is that only slams matter and this tournament is inconsequential. Nadal may very well pay the price early next year...
Nadal if anything has shown me this year he needs less recovery time than ever. He will be fine, well over a month till the AO
I am above the G-word debate... just not the "tiger" debate. What happened to staying out of or ignoring topics you have no interest in?
People like to talk about the G topic. You won't stop it by jumping in threads to give a righteous "tut-tut" about it. Just comes off pretentious and designed to make you look above it all.
Imagine if he had that mindset his whole career.Nadal if anything has shown me this year he needs less recovery time than ever. He will be fine, well over a month till the AO
There you are . You never fail to find something negative in RafaNadal has shown tremendous fight and character in this Davis Cup.

But the format clearly does NOT work in the US when we can't even see the matches without paying an extra fee. I'd love to see the finals, and I wanted to see the semis. But I'm not going to pay extra money. I suppose it would be different if the US tennis program was not such a miserable failure. The courts have been jam-packed the last two days. And the atmosphere for some of these ties have been electric.
The format clearly works. Sorting out attendence in earlier ties is a very fixable thing for the next time. I think some people were just excited at the negative early press and don't want to acknowledge that the tournament has fully come alive.
Have you not noticed that any aspect of tennis that leaves Fed in the shadows is generally ignored, such as singles Olympics and DC.Oddly enough we don't seem to talk about Davis Cup much when considering the greatest player of all time, but perhaps we ought to more.
More people are finding out Nadal's Davis Cup record is insane and means he probably the greatest ever player in the competition.
But his performance this week has been ridiculous. He's almost like a one-man team for Spain, willing them to victory in doubles and singles. This may be the best sustained effort I've seen from Nadal, and that is saying a lot.
Win or lose against Canada in the final tomorrow, Nadal's epicness in this Davis Cup has been the highlight of the tournament and won't soon be forgotten.
During the period that Rafa couldn't play DC because of constant injuries, Spain got demoted.Nadal has always had a solid team around him. Spain has had depth for years. Often with 3 or 4 guys who would be the best player on a lot of teams.
Comparing Wimbledon finalists with Daniel Evans?Fed got pretty far by starching the likes of Nalbandian and Philipoussis.
He will lose to Shapovalov, sorry to tell you. He's single handedly gotten Spain to this year's Davis Cup final on an indoor hardcourt. He's been the best player of the tournament by miles.

To be honest I just wish he was at home resting. The fact he is playing this much this late in the season is mind boggling (in both good and bad ways, I guess) I find it painful every time he steps out on court, and the fact he's playing doubles as well, and finds himself with these late finishes??For the love of god Rafa, just go home. You are, as you say, not with twenty anymore.
Frickin' Spanish superstar organizes this tournament and hosts it in Spain and of course he's lured into taking part. It's so annoying.
Yes, it's not so long ago that the guy was pretty much finished after the US Open, and now look at him. Still going strong as December approaches.Isn't it nuts he's still out there? Lol I tell you what, the day Nadal retires, we can all agree, the man earned his rest!

How about we just enjoy Rafa's performance without worrying about Goat shenanigans.
Sincerely
Red Rick, proud VB, MM and NF resident, as well as ABFP.
As a Dutchman, give me the goddamn bitterballen @I Am FinnishLol he used to be finished after Wimbledonthis late career resurgence with the new style of game is amazing and paying hella dividends
And let us eat popcorn chicken damnit
Andy Murray was complaining about attendance in China couple of months ago. Whose fault is it that Djokovic and Murray are not able to pull in the crowd like Rafa & Fedr do wherever they play around the world? It's not "ending brilliantly" at all, because no-one gives a cr*p about it.
The stadium is empty unless Spain is playing.
The fact that even Andy Murray had to implore people to attend, tells you everything you need to know about this disastrous exho.
what is that exactly?

That certainly explains why you called their emotional reaction some sort of a Serbian thing rather than looking at the context of their elimination.Nah. I haven't watched one second of this farce.
The sadness that Serbian tennis players showed this week wasn't because they thought they represented the nation negatively though. Djokovic on his own has had such a positive impact over the years anyway, no amount of heartbreaking DC losses would ever change his country's image for the worse.I don't know why you seem to be misunderstanding my comment.
It's obvious that Serbian sportspeople know that they have an obligation to positively represent their nation on an international stage.
They all took it seriously as an important team competition just like in the years before. You suggesting Davis Cup took a nosedive this year when it has been uneventful for years already and repeatedly shouting it's an exho from your sofa won't change that. There's no "commitment" to question.
It's an exho tournament with nothing serious riding on it.
Some participants will take it more seriously than others.
Comparing Wimbledon finalists with Daniel Evans?
Good job.

Of course. In that era, Dan Evans might have had a half decent chance of getting to Wimbledon final
Soon number of slams won't count. So-called fans' favourite will be the benchmark. And recently they've been trying to downplay the importance of year-end-#1![]()

Why are Nadal fans so bitter? Especially if he is the GOAT.Nah...the new benchmark is number of tickets sold to South American exhibitions
You guys are so bitter for someone who is the GOAT. You’re like Trump fans. Can’t ever be happy always have to be complaining about some perceived slight against your god.Soon number of slams won't count. So-called fans' favourite will be the benchmark.
Fed's establishment friends are in denial. Why are Nadal fans so bitter? Especially if he is the GOAT.
The last time Fedr was YE #1 was 10 years ago!
When McEnroe (ever the flip-flopper) eventually settled on Federer as his pick for GOAT (for now)
