Nadal likes to be different when it comes to tennis shorts fashion. Back in 2005 his shorts were almost the length of pants, and some may have noticed over the years his shorts kept getting shorter and shorter. Now it seems they are shorter than anyone else's in the top 100. Are we seeing a trend here and perhaps going back to the 80's style men's tennis shorts? Personally I think that would be cool to have those McEnroe/Lendl shorts back!

Or will Nadal take it even further and finish his career with something like these?
 
I liked the sleeveless shirts he used to wear, but I also like the "modern" shorter shorts.

Some of his Nike sleeved shirts are niiice though.

I totally agree on the shorter shorts. Nadal has impressive leg muscles (so does Fed, now that they are both wearing shorter shorts), and it's time we had some attention on legs.
This move will expose all those chaps who only built their guns/chest leaving spindly legs, lol.


p.s. my b-in-law thinks those 80's shorts are gay, but somehow i find the long shorts to be girly !
 
His shorts have been shortening themselves as Nadal gradually matured. Some could say the same about his hair. Not balding issue, just the length of hair.

That's what I thought! They should be showing more of their thighs. The top guys nowadays have so much more definition in their thighs than back in the 80's. Berdych, Murray and Serena just to name a few.

Those short-shorts look better on Nadal than they would have on McEnroe. Nadal has so much definition on his legs that he can pull it off without looking ridiculous. Much better than those capris.
 
Its funny to look at the first pic now and see how skinny Rafas arms look, when the general view is he was supposedly all muscle then compared to now LOL

Anyway, his shorts aren't THAT short, but it is funny how we went sort of from one extreme to the other, yes. It happened when he was world number 1. All part of growing up, you know.

In closing, I think it's interesting how Nadal's downfall has coincided with the shortening of his shorts. I think we finally have our answers. Rafa... Bring back the pirate pants for 2016

He's too "old" now to pull off the teenage pirate pants/capris look. The shorter shorts look fabulous on him. Speaking of shorts, Andy's shorts today were really baggy and crappy looking. They reminded me of when Pete went to the (hideous) baggy shorts:

I think the short shorts are too small for him... the 2009 after the pirate look shorts were great though. I loved his outfit in AO 2009

Agree, I think he'd even look good in the McEnroe/Lendl shorts.
 
His shorts actually haven't been getting shorter....they just appear to be shorter due to the fact they've been disappearing up his backside at a rate quicker than he's able to retrieve them!
 
Wish rafa started w the old shirt outfit again so we could se more of his gorgeous muscles. Pretty happy about the short length now though.
