he is back in top 10.
Up one place despite second round Australian Open loss.
what happened to Tsonga, he is 14 now?

belongs?? what makes you say he belongs there? other than results of over a year ago.
Whats up with people bagging out Nalby? He's total winner!
Back in the top ten again - after several years of it. Tennis Masters Cup winner, semi-finals or better in every slam, Multiple Masters Series sheilds, already won a tournament this year, 2-0 record over Nadal, 8-9 record against Federer, Wimbledon finalist, 27-9 record in Davis Cup...
not too shabby. And who else has won a slam in the last few years anyway except the top 3?
top ten players like nalby, davydenko, and blake frustrate me because they have the weapons to go all the way..but break under the mental pressure.
Tsonga was defending 1400 points as last year's finalist and runner up but earned only 360 as a QF. He was penalized by the change in point proportioning. Of course, Djokovic took an even bigger hit, losing 2000 and gaining 360 (QF loss to Roddick).he is back in top 10.

A year ago? He made most of his points in October/November. W Stockholm, Runner up Basel (l to Federer) and Runner up Paris (l to Tsonga). Last title was a couple of weeks ago in Sidney. He had a dissapointing AO (again) but he earned that points.
Take away the points from winning Miami and he's down to #12-15 somewhere. He won a Masters, okay? It's a big deal. How the hell does davydenko stay up there consistently when i hear so little about him on the tour?Surely del potro or one of the other rising stars should have beaten him up the ranks already?
It is good to see Nalbandian is back and playing really well.
Slam? Good luck!Nalbandian belongs at Krispy Kreme for 9 months of the year. the only reason he's back in the top 10 is because so many players with points to defend did badly at the AO. blake, ferrer, tsonga etc.
PS. I like nalby, i'm just frustrated with him and have lost faith that he will ever get a slam title.
Its unbelievable that Nalbandian could even SNIFF a top 10 ranking. Wheres the great competition I hear about. I mean Nalbandian of all people is in the top 10? Whens the last time hes done anything signficant at the slams?

I swear that is one sentence I never thought I would see. Blake does not have any weapons..only thing Blake can do is actually beat Nadal..something he should teach Fed over there. Davydenko also I thought he could have squirted out a slam or two, reminded me alot of Kalfenikov, I think he was probably better than Kalfenikov sigh oh well.

I don't understand this whole thing about players "deserving" or not to be in the top 10. It's not a subjective ranking is just plain math so what's so difficult to understand?
Go Rhino, let them have it! We Nalby fans have the thickest skins in tennis (other than the Safin fans).
he is back in top 10.

I dissagree.
He belongs with the other players who cant even make it to the second week of grand slams anymore.
You mean you think he should be in the top ten even though he cant make it to the second week at slams?

so you dont understand the ranking entry system... i get it! it's not about wether you derve or not. is about you making the point ot be there. so DEAL WITH IT.
The tennis ranking system is ****ing ********. The whole "defending your points" thing is asinine.
It be nice if the GS's used a different system, for their four tournaments.
Without getting into a flamewar, it would make perfect sense for nadal to be ranked #1 at last years French, and Federer ranked #1 at this years US Open.
And to continue that example, give Nalbandian a lucky loser spot at the 2010 AO =)
No, they should just do like the golf tour does and give people weighted (depending on the importance of the event and the strength of its field) points based on how well they play in tournaments. Your ranking shouldn't really be affected by how you did at a tournament last year relative to this year.
