Nalbandian protoge wins third consecutive challenger

Congratulations to Eduardo Schwank, an argentino coached by Javier Nalbandian, for winning his third consecutive challenger yesterday. Schwank was a world #2 junior, but his early career in the pros has been plagued with injuries. But he's been healthy now for awhile, recently turning 22 years old, and he's gone from approx. #300 in May, 2007 to #74 this week.

He was also the one whose hotel room caught fire last week, destroying most of his racquets, his clothes, his laptop, and his passport, as well as burning up his prize money for winning the Rome challenger the week before. That happened on Monday prior to his first match, and somehow he had the mental fortitude to stay with it and win the entire tourney. Because of his quick rise in the rankings, he still has to play the RG qualies, but I'm keeping my eye on him.

Congratulations to Schwank. For sure this is a great year for him, I hope he does well in some ATP- level tournaments.

Eduardo is a talented player and a schwankily dressed young man. His schwings remind me of Nalbandian, only more schvelte in physique.

Nothing in schports is for schure, but schomething tells me he could very well be Argentina's next tennis schtar.
