Natural Gut, with of without poly cross?

#1
Yesterday I played for the first time with natural gut. It was a hybrid of Kirschbaum Helix / Babolat Touch VS @ 24 /24 kg. This was a eye opener en I want to play more with natural gut.

I'm thinking about to play with a full bed of KLIP Legend 16, but I play with topspin and also a slice backhand or topspin doublehanded backhand.
Otherwise I think I will break the gut to soon and it will be to expensive. Is my playing style okay for a full bed or is a hybrid better with poly.
The poly I want to use are: GAMMA Moto 17, Yonex ProPolyTour 125 or Tecnifibre Black Code 1.24

How many Elasto-Cross will you use for a full bed of gut?

Personally I only add them when I see a string start to wear.

You might find full bed of gut too powerful. Try gut mains yonex ptp crosses 58/53. Black code and Moto will cut through the gut very quickly if put in crosses.

The Yonex PTP 120 is not so stiff as the PTP 125. Today I receive the KLIP Legend 16. Hopefully the Yonex PTP 120 will be soon at home and I will try.

Hybrid I want to string is: M: KLIP Legend 16 X: Yonex PTP 120.
I play with a Prince EXO3 Tour 16x18.

Crosses should not be thinner than natural gut otherwise they will cut through them. Next tip, string them tighter than natural gut for better control.

Yes, if you can afford changing the rackets every 8 games, like Federer. OTH, slick, round poly for the cross.

I doubt many people will agree with you. Tonic+ Longevity is 1.35+ and almost every poly is thinner (so is Max Power) and I have had no issues. Also no one I know of strings poly crosses higher than natural gut.

1.35+ is already Ding an sich, I mean NG 1.25 and 1.30. As for stringing the crosses higher, this must be a general rule because most poly crosses drop by 2-3 kg immediately after the string job is done, so if you want a real, dynamic 1kg difference between M and C, this is the only way to achieve it. The other bonus is that you can thus increase the final tension of NG without running the risk of snapping it.
