What is the Best brand for natural gut?
Babolat VS gut is my favorite. It has been around a long time. I hear Wilson gut is manufactured at the same place as Babolat, but Wilson has their own coating to make it different.
BDE are every bit as good as Bab - and at a lower cost.
I've used them both extensively.
Wilson gut is made by Babolat in their factories( first material collected and worked on in Brittany and then finished in Lyon) and has the same coating.
All the best,
FWIW, in a USRSA gut playtest conducted several years ago--when BDE was new, too--Babolat's VS significantly outscored five other contenders, including BDE Performance. BDE Performance, which came in second, scored the same in durability, and below the VS in all the remaining seven categories. Klip Legend, mentioned here too, did well as the tough, crisp, durable entry (the current durability "king" is Klip's Armour Pro); Pacific Supreme, however, was at or near the bottom in all eight categories.
If money doesn't matter - I would use VS...but it does and for the last couple of years I have only bought BDE Performance.
babolat vs gut like everyone has said.
I'll go against the flow here and cast my vote for Klip Armor Pro. Better spin to me than VS. Better feel on volleys.
tonic is really not that bad. It wasn't too special with regard to any other string for me, but I'm not a pro or anything.
Pacific has the highest rated gut right now
Best brand-Babolat. It plays consistently and you get no surprises.
Best quality-Pacific. Its clear with no flaws but the company is terrible at keeping it on the shelf.
Best price/quality-Klip legend. Cheaper than babolat/Pacific, lasts longer and Klip is a solid company.
