Natural gut

Always used Wilson nat gut and looking to try something new. Yes or No is pacific natural gut the same quality string as Wilson and babolat?

Apparently not anymore. Check Steve Huff's thread on the first page.

Soon after posting this I started going through old post and saw several people having a problem with it breaking. With that few a people those breaks (ESP since the string hadn't been used) could be related to the string job though. Maybe we will get enough replies from people that have experience with it to get a decent sample size.

No, it's not the same quality. Babolat is the standard by which others are measured, and Wilson is supposedly made by Babolat.

However, despite the other claims, I have not experienced any problems with Pacific Classic snapping in over 4 years. And there are others (see Pacific Classic / MSV Co. Focus thread) that have gotten very good use out of it.

The best advice is to take what we all say here with a grain of salt. Two, five, or even twenty people from a message board is not a large enough sample set to determine whether something is good or bad.

Well, I can say that I've strung a lot of gut, starting back with Victor Imperial in the early 80s, maybe late 70s. And, I'm not saying that Pacific gut is terrible. Actually, it plays great. I've just had problems about 20% of the stringjobs I've strung with it, the most irritating being when the racket has not been played with. Fortunately, these have all been my own rackets. I'm not talking about breaking at a knot either, just around the bend of a grommet. I've checked the grommet and even strung up another brand of gut after the break without problems. The funny thing is that when I get a set that doesn't break, it plays great and lasts a long time. So, maybe it's a problem of consistency. It feels expensive going in. Maybe eventually, I'll give it another shot. But, until I can confidently know that it won't have problems, I won't string it for other people (unless they supply it for me to string).

I've got many years of stringing natural gut under my belt. Steve has been stringing gut for longer than I've been alive haha. His feedback has proven to easily be trusted.

Yes, one of my main complaints about Pacific Classic (that's really the only Pacific I have extensive experience with) is that the gauge isn't consistent throughout. I've strung 16L that looks like 17g at points, and 17g that looks like 18g.

Even between Wilson and Babolat, I prefer Babolat VS 17 (might have something to do with the Wilson being probably 16 and less lively/stiffer).

Original VS is the best but Wilson will have to do given the new Babolat BT7 is so stiff and not worth the price. I would say Wilson is about 95% of the feel of original VS.

Why would you string your racquets with the intestines of a dead cow?
Disgusting and shameful.
It is really no different from people skinning other animals to wear their
fur as a coat.
I am sure you would not like it if a bear, shark or alligator made a nice
lunch out of you.

Can't wait for them to just ban you.

I am sure they will sooner or later, but do you really think I give a flying fart?
But yes! Let's ban everyone who says or does something we do not like
or agree with. You would feel right at home in Communist China.
Can't wait for you to put your hand in a blender.

I don't think you understand the current political situation in the world since you are making up the fact that you are from North Korea, but are against violence to animals, anti-communist, and somehow think the United States is part of the axis of evil.

You are a troll and don't post on topic and ruin real threads. So leave. And threatening people is a sure fire way to get yourself banned. So please keep it up!

Why waste part of the cow that can enhance mans enjoyment in life?

Reported and hoping they ban you pronto

If you are indeed a vegetarian who does not eat fish or meat AND does not purchase products made from them, I can respect your opinion.

It's quite common around the world to eat meat and wear animal skins and has been for some time. Gut string happens to be a byproduct of animals we eat in the civilized world.

And now back to our regularly scheduled Tennis Talk topic.........
