NB 1187 or better

I have been using a pair of these since June. I have very wide feet (4E) they were only available in 2E.

I tried them on and the fit was a tad tight, but I thought they would loosen up.

Long story short, I couldn't wear them for more than 1/2 hour, so I took them to a shoe repair and had them stretched. They felt fine afterwards.

Now, they are starting to wear out, so I am looking for a replacement.

TW doesn't seem to show whether they are now available in 4E. I don't mind having to have them stretched, but is there anything else comparable that you might recommend.

thx

I also wear 4E. You may want to check out the Babolat Propulse 3. Plenty of room in the forefoot area. Hope this helps.

Have you considered the NB 804? It's available in 4E. It is New Balance's most stable shoe. The only drawback, in my mind, is having only one choice in color style.

I tried them on, but imo the 1187's feel a lot better.

Don't get me wrong, I really like the 1187's, but I can't be the only one with wide feet, looking for a better than average shoe, can I?

I guess that I need to call around and find out if the 1187 is now available in 4E...although the Babs look interesting, but not in red (for me)

I have a pair of those, but I find the 1187's have much better support

thx

Buy a pair of quality shoe stretchers and you will be set.

I can even stretch out the super-narrow Barricade 6 to fit my 4E-6E super wide feet.

OMG, you stretched the Barricade 6 to a 4E-6E? Your foot must be wider than the outsole!

I didn't think it would work, but it did.....so it's all good

dont get them. i had a pair, and it worn through in 8 weeks. very upset

I bought a pair of 804's in June, when I started hitting again after a 15 year layoff.

I felt like I needed more support, so bought the 1187's a week later and was only going to use them on clay.

I played everyday, sometimes twice a day for the entire summer and ended up mostly on hard courts.

So far they have held up very well, so I can't complain.

Where did yours wear thru?

Warrantly?

thx

The Propulse 3 is VERY W-I-D-E. I have to wear the thickest Thorlos to make them snug enough, and I can't wear Thorlos with any other tennis shoes because the thickness of the Thorlos make the shoes too tight. Propulse 3 is a great shoe.

You must be a bigtime TOE DRAGGER !!!

btw: How many hours and on what surface(s) did you use them before they went kaput?

thx

Remember that TW offers free return shipping, so you can always order them and just return them if they don't fit.

I support TW as much as I can, but have never had much luck with mail order shoes.....I have to try on a bunch of different brands /1/2 sizes, etc before I find something comfy.....

and I'll probably wait till my toe is almost hanging out before dumping these

I bought mine in June and played everyday and sometimes twice a day all summer...so far mine are hanging in. Probabaly 60% on hard court . Very slight wear pattern on the bottom, but that's it so far.

Maybe I'm just light on my feet? (twinkle toes) or in my case more like the dancing hippos in Fantasia, albeit non as graceful.

I'm looking for another pair so that I can keep one for hard and another for clay. I could live with an other pair of these, but need to get out and at least try the Babs on and maybe a few others.....hoping for a decent fit to my wide duck feet.

Have you ever tried 1003 2E? If you have you would not make this statement. I only need 2E NB and still found it too narrow, it will NOT work for someone who needs a 4E.
