NBA 2018-19: Dynasty Season 5; Can The Carrington Warriors Defend???

Osman drops 26 on 10/16 shooting while Clarkson adds 28 on 10/-5 off the bench and power the cavs to a 116-113 victory over Washington. Keep it up Cleveland!

Okafor and Russell are starting to live up to their draft position (Russell more so than okafor). The lakers kept the two busts at #2 overall and traded the good one lol
I’d say the Suns are the real challenger to NYK in the Zion Sweepstakes. Chicago is not far off either. It will be fun seeing who can tank the best. NYK at Phoenix 3/6...circle that date on your calendar!

Yea phx is one to watch and the West is tougher so they have that advantage. We have the toughest division in the east but idk if that will be enough to get us the number one pick. Figures the first year they change the lottery odds we might finish first lol. We are 0-1 vs phx chi and cle now. We have the bulls twice to end the year (4/1 and 4/16 second to last game) so those will be important as well

A quick read (so I may be off a game or so): 19 of 32 at home but 8 of those are currently playoff teams and a ninth is vs LAL with LBJ expected to be back; the dreaded 3 games in 4 nights on the road across the continent (at LAC 3/3 at Sacto 3/4 at PHOENIX 3/6); 5 road games vs playoff teams.

You can do this NYK! Make Zion happen!!!

Doncic flopped in his msg debut. Was hoping for some magic since no one on my team is capable of doing anything. He had 6 points on 3/12 before saving his stat line in garbage time. He was forcing shots over Robinson and over Dotson even when he couldn’t shake Dotson loose. It looked like nerves since I’ve never seen him take so many bad shots. Robinson is long + can jump out of the building and Dotson is an above average defender so it’s not like he was going against complete scrubs. Dirk had some vintage dirk moments in the first half. Was nice to see that in what was most likely his last game at the worlds most famous arena. And most importantly the Knicks stayed in first in the Zion sweepstakes!

Donquijote’s other favorite player got his 6th triple double of the month last night in a win over the pelicans. Kenrich Williams (21/8/3) and monte Morris (20/7/7) also had good games. Never heard of either guy

Morris is starting in place of Murray at PG due to a sprained ankle. He had been giving solid bench support before the promotion and now averages 24 minutes PT and 10.2/3.7 in 50 games. 2017 2R draft pick (Iowa State).

Williams is getting minutes for NOP due to the Randle/Mirotic absences. Last night he played starter minutes off the bench in easily his best game so far.

Is KP out for this season w/ACL injury? Mavs v Pistons tonight at 7, Saturday v Cavs. Pistons' fans expect a crowd of about 5,000 tonight.

p.s. Any trade rumours about Nikola Mirotic?

KP won’t return until next season.

Mirotic will be UFA at season’s end and is a bargain right now at $12.5million salary/cap hit. If Unibrow is traded he could be part of packages to fit caps and give the receiving team flexibility for ‘19/‘20.

I’m seeing some impressive play by the Bucks as they build a 10-point lead in T-dot midway through the second quarter. Coach Bud has them playing team ball around the superstar!

That's the Kawhi you remember from 2014 He is not the same player. Having better stats than teammates or DeRozan doesn't prove anything. Last years regular season DeRozan was better for the team play. Main reason for their 2nd position in the East is not Kawhi. He is a good player for sure but not that superstar anymore.
LOL Kawhi is 2 years younger than DD and is only 27 years old, if anything he's just hitting his peak right now. His play on both ends are ELITE, his offensive game is as good as its ever been and is among the best in the business right now; Kawhi's also incredibly efficient while doing so. Leonard also gives the raps something that they've NEVER had in their 20+ years of existence and that's an MVP candidate who also plays otherworldly defense. With Demar, his game is VERY one-dimensional and can easily get exposed by better defensive teams. Bottom line, they're honestly 5 SGs alone that I'd take over DD right now; I'm not even sure if they're 5 players overall that I'd take over Leonard in the whole league

If he continues to produce at this rate, Kawhi is going to go down as an ATG player, while Demar will be one of those casual all-stars that most will probably forget within 15 years. With all due respect, Derozan is honestly overrated asf and if you actually think the raps are better with DD than Kawhi then there's something really wrong here. Nothing against DD personally, but there's a reason why he was traded

Got the impression that the Knicks organization were suspicious as to the degree of injury to his ACL. Suspected KP was looking to leave.

The Bucks win easily 105-92 after a bit of a lull to start the fourth quarter. Total team effort on both sides of the court to score 105 with Giannis the leading scorer with just 19. Their length bothered Leonard and Ibaka into a combined 11-35 shooting.

"otherworldly defense" today against Bucks. Middleton 7/9 and Giannis 7/13. Kawhi just 7/20

What I was saying having Kawhi is not making Raptors better than last year. You're still talking about his stats. Despite adding Green who is great for his role on both ends and Siakam turning into a star this year, Ibaka having a much better season, still Raps are not better than last year and very likely to be eliminated by Pacers or Sixers. They lost all important matches lately to Boston, Houston, Pacers and Bucks. Leonard is just looking to fill his stats and to leave in the summer. I'd rather have a player like DeRozan who sacrifices his flesh and bones for his team.

Also I don't really understand why some people hate DeRozan, Lowry and Casey so much. Before them Raps made it to the second round of playoffs only once in their history. With them, they did all last three seasons plus made it to a conference final.

Brilliant coaching from Buldenhozer. Ujiri probably did not go after him seriously to keep his own job safe last summer and will pay dearly for his mistakes.
Also note that people who made Raptors what they are now (Casey, DeRozan, Lowry) were not acquired by him.

Leonard’s defence is one of the best in the league, if you’ve followed the sport over the last 4-5 years you’d be well aware of that. Ask his peers, NBA coaches, experts, etc. theyll all tell u the same. His elite two way play is something I’ve never seen from any Raptors player before.

Also, the Raps have a better chance to make a finals appearance with one year of Kawhi then they do with 10+ years of Derozan, that’s just a fact.

And I gotta LOL at this “sacrifice flesh and bone” bs. Yea he “sacrificed” sooo much that he established himself as one of the worst playoff performing “all-stars” in NBA history LMAOO. As I said above, Demar as your leading scorer is NOT gonna get any team even close to the finals cuz his game is wayyyy too one dimensional and predictable. Once teams play better defence on DD, he’s completely toast due his lack of versatility, and even worse, he can never return the favour on the other end as his D is horrid. The raps as a team actually play worse with Demar on the court come playoff time as he has a -2.5 box +/- and a -0.2 VORP which means he’s COSTING his team more wins than the other way around.

Bottom line, the Raptors management already gave the Lowry/Derozan/Casey core several chances to come through and they’ve proceeded to lie down and implode when it matters time and time again. Changes NEEDED to be made last offseason after that disgraceful output against the Cavs last year and thankfully Masai did so

All your claims are hypothetical and you're talking about Leonard's past. Also don't forget that he played along with Parker, Duncan and Ginobili. Leonard will experience a 2nd round exit with better squad than Demar ever had. As I said, the people you hate did the best in Raps history so far. Anything less than conference championship will be a failure this year for Ujiri and Kawhi.

How do you grade the trade Mavs and Knicks pulled off today?
Mavs took some risk to build around Luka. Both players are better than the players they were traded for though ACL injury takes a long time to heal.

Duncan literally retired in 2016 and Parker and Ginobili were not even half the players they were 5-10 years prior. Leonard is playing the best basketball of his career at the moment and the Raptors look more legit than they ever did with DD. And you’re playing the hypothetical game too since you’re already assuming that the Raps are gonna lose in the 2nd round when it’s only feb 1st lol. You honestly sound more like a salty spurs fan (a franchise which I respect very much btw) than a raps fan tbh.

Also, the fact that Demar, Lowry and Casey (three playoff mugs) are the main figures in the raps “golden age” has more to do with the fact that the Raps history stinks big time so having two borderline all stars who can’t perform in the playoffs and regularly get booted in round 2 (or 1) is still a decent upgrade over what they previously had.

Raps were not doing any worse last year. All you rave about is how great a player he is, yet he has not made his team better. He missed all game winners this season. They lost those important matches I mentioned. AD is a superstar too but nobody was saying they would win their conference. The reason why people say Raps can win the Eastern conference is because of the success they had in recent years, all thanks to those people receiving the hate.

First of all, are u actually suggesting that Kawhi isn’t an elite player? Cuz if you are then your despair towards the man is getting cringeworthy at this point.

Second of all, if getting murdered in round 2 every year is considered “success” then man that’s a pretty low standard.

Lastly, fellow players, teams and coaches who play against them regularly have all said themselves that the raps are better now than ever before following the addition of Green/Leonard. If you’re actually a Raptors fan and you genuinely think Demar is better than Kawhi then that’s exactly why the Raptors and all Toronto teams in general never have or deserve good things.

Tim Duncan was not retired in 2015-16 and they were 2nd place in W and lost to Oklohama in 2nd round. So what did Kawhi achieve?
Kawhi in 2016 was 2nd in MVP voting, won DPOY and led his team to a franchise high 67 wins. They lost to OKC cuz there were some really bogus calls that went against the Spurs in the final moments of like two of those games or else they’d be the ones in the WCF against GSW.

2017, Tim Duncan, who was the backbone of their dynasty calls it a career, Parker blows out his knee and Manu turns 40. The Spurs still won over 60 games that year with Kawhi playing out of his skin all year with another top 3 finish in MVP and DPOY votings. Leonard put up insane numbers all playoffs long, and was near singlehandedly blowing out GSW by like 25 in game 1 of the WCF before Zaza gooned. The spurs never even came close to winning a game once Kawhi went down.

So? He failed to take his team beyond 2R. Raps won franchise high 59 games last year and they did it as a team. Basketball is a team sport.
Would Harden make Raps champions? He is insane too. I don't care about this wow culture. I'd rather have Jokic in my team than Harden or Kawhi.

GSW comes home for Boogie’s first Roarcle intro, looks good for a half and then collapses vs a deeper team of Process Servers. They really missed KT, out with an undisclosed illness but hats off to two Sixer subs Holden and Shamet for adding a spark off the bench to support Embiid (26/20), Simmons (20/6) and Redick (15).

40 minutes of PT in the LAbron return to the lineup in the OT win for Staples superiority. If he goes down again after that, will you blame Coach Walton or his boss Supercoach James???

Lol the Spurs made the WCF with kawhi in 2017 and were beating up on the Warriors until Zaza became a goon; better than anything the Raps achieved in the franchise. The raps won 59 games just to get their asses slaughtered in the most embarrassing series in franchise history. Your idol derozan even got benched in multiple games lmao; that team simply isn’t built to win big matches. DD and Lowry are pretty much the Ferrer and Tsonga of bball, good but definitely not good enough

And lmao Jokic?! Okay there’s one thing about fandom/hatred for certain players, but then there’s irrational bias like what you’re showing towards Harden/Kawhi. Look Jokic is a great player but Harden and Kawhi are a tier above Nikola at this point in time. I still need to see more from Jokic in crunch time matches as the Nuggets haven’t made the playoffs in years now, and this is his first year as an all star.

^^^Jokic is the slickest big man passer since Sabonis the elder. He is on a learning curve that could take him into serious MVP talk within a year or two. Right now, that award is going to either Freaky Greek or The Beard. Still leaning towards Giannis.

Rockets at Nuggets is indeed an offensive slugfest with Denver overcoming a 43-35 first quarter deficit to now lead 69-59 with 4 minutes left in the half. Both teams are shooting 60% plus for the game! Role players (Beasley with 20 for Denver, Manimal with 16 for Houston) chipping in for both.

Denver cruises to the 136-122 win with The Beard getting a meaningless late trey for his 28-30th points to extend his streak of 30+ games. Dadbody missed his trip-dub by one dime when a teammate’s trey rimmed out in the last minute. Malik Beasley became the answer to a trivia question: who stopped The Beard’s streak at 26 games when he was the game’s top scorer? Beasley had 35

Unibrow’s dad said his son won’t play for Boston due to the club’s handling of the Isaiah Thomas injury/trade.

Lakers have offered Ball, Kuzma Rondo, Beasley and a 1R pick.

On a night when The Chef was off the boil (0-8 and just 2 FTs before the fourth), the other champs stepped up to overcome a 12-point 3rd quarter deficit and won going away over the LAkers without a resting LAbron, 115-101. AI off the bench was UUUGGGEEE during the comeback and KT had 23 points in the first half.

Jokic with a trip-dub on a back end of a back-to-back as Denver wins a tight one vs Minnesota 107-106. The big man shot poorly (4/13) but finished 13/16/10 and helped feed four scorers for 19 or more.

LOL
Kawhi PER 26.93
Jokic PER 27.80
You talk about crunch time, Leonard missed all game winners this year which I mentioned already.
Clutch FG %
Kawhi 49.3
Jokic 50.9
So far Jokic > Leonard

Harden PER 30.61
Clutch 41.4
I have nothing against Harden. Don't try to make me look like. He has done all these playing in that team with a bunch of lesser players.

He will never get the MVP for many reasons. He is European, even worse he is Serbian, he doesn't dunk over people, he is too intelligent, he is a team player, he doesn't score 50+, etc etc..
Also I don't normally watch All Star match and I will continue doing so as my guy Doncic was not selected over Klay.
