NBA 2018-19: Dynasty Season 5; Can The Carrington Warriors Defend???

Many wannabe contenders just a piece or two or a hamstring away from ousting rich as sh11t talented Golden State Carringtons. Divisiveness from within seems averted as both KD and KT seem ready to stay. They may even get better with some bench tweaking.

Where will The Big LeBronski land? Going out West seems fruitless. Both LA's have too many holes and Houston has only one ball to share in isoball D'Antoni's scheme. I say he stays or follows Griffin to The Process Land 2.0.

The draft this year is top end loaded. Ayton says he's #1 and staying in AZ. Who rolls the dice with Euroball Doncic? Is Trae Young the Chef 2.0 many were touting all winter? Can my Magic finally get a lottery pick to stay healthy and play???

The 94-foot floor is open for disgust!!!

Lebron either goes to LA or NY, else stay put. Houston and Philly are quite inviting but like you said, just a hamstring away at such an inopportune time. As for the GSW, they are going for their first threepeat à la MJ.

I am hoping my C’s finally make the finals and stay healthy. I think they could challenge the mighty warriors assuming everyone stays healthy.

Maybe lebron goes to philly but i think that hurts a guy like Ben Simmons whose basically the same player. Lebron will be 34 next season. He doesn’t have much time left

LA or NY if he never wants to win again maybe. Lebron doesn't have time on his side and those two teams are far, far away IMO. Especially with the Lakers being out West.

By those two teams, you mean NYK and LAL? There's also BKN and LAC. Out of those, LAC has the most merit with cap space and the twin lottery picks plus the guiding hands of the legend Jerry West moving the chess pieces. The only negative is moving to the already loaded West.

What West does with those #12 & #13 picks will be key in how they play the FA market. If they find a trading partner and package the two for an earlier slot that means West is ready to build more for the present and they will be in the PG13/LBJ sweepstakes. Same goes for trading out of the lottery.

There's "win now" talent on that roster with Jordan, Harris, Bradley, Beverley and Williams.

Yeah the Knicks/Lakers I'm weary of. Might just be better off staying in Cleveland and adding Paul George or something to the fray.

Lebron does transcend any team but those two might be similarly steep climbs like the Cavs currently are. If the Lakers played in the East I'd be less doubtful.

I think PG13 either stays in OKC or goes home to LA and JW does his best to convince him there's a better present and future as a Clipper.

The problem with him going to philly might be Ben Simmons. They’re the same player. Simmons likes to have the ball in his hands. I don’t know their cap situation. Lebroni’s gonna be 34 next year.

Pretty sure he'll bring someone [maybe two these time] with him from someplace else, just like he did with Love.

The lakers can only afford two max Contracts but they would have to move players.

By the way randle is a restricted free agent. I am sure he wants to get paid as well.

This is all so confusing. In Game 7 with Houston, you said KD was likely playing his last game with GSW.

What's the story with KD's future with GSW?

I suppose it would be better for the NBA if KD left and GSW was not so dominant.

They have four expiring contracts for wiggle room...Redick, Ilyasova, Belinelli and Amir Johnson. They also have a vacant GM position thanks to Twittergate. If Griffin goes there, LBJ may not be far behind to mentor Simmons firsthand (same agent).

I was being harshly critical of his performance, which was temporarily ballhoggish. Had they lost because of it, he might have entertained Jerry West's "Come on down!" inquiries. A lot of people forget JW was in the front office at GSW when the Hamptons field trip was made and West was key in convincing KD it was not cowardly to make the move.

Too early to make intelligent calls. Maybe KD and KT stay with the GSW; maybe not. Have to wait for that to play out before anything intelligent can be said. LBJ can go anywhere right now, but even he will wait to see what happens with the current champs before deciding. As far as which conference, my personal opinion at this juncture is LBJ stays in the Eastern Conference.

IMO Lebron shouldn't bring anyone with a plethora of injury history to the table, especially at inopportune times. CP3, Kawhi Leonard, Joel Embiid, Porzingis, so and so. These guys just have an uncanny timing when it comes to getting injured when it matters most.

If LBJ is truly interested in a championship he would put aside his ego. What is stopping LBJ from joining KD and Curry at GSW?

I think Bron is done in CLE, but cant see him going anywhere in the west. East is limited with championship caliber teams. PHI maybe with that talent makes the most sense if he just signs as an FA. Or he pulls the ultimate mafia power move and CLE and BOS do a sign and trade and swap Kyrie for LeBron. I would love that move because it would be LeBron flexing his power to make Kyrie suffer. BOS has shown with the way it threw away Thomas they are not above hurting someone feelings if they think it will make the team better.

Of the west teams I don't know how HOU makes the cap space, and seeing how they were up maybe just a few minor tweaks and try to beat the injury luck. Lakers are not ready yet, but if LeBron signs one of those three deals with 2 year opt it LAL might be the spot in 2020-21. Pelicans if they let Demarcus walk could fit LeBron and Lebron Davis and Jrue would be a pretty decent team that I think would match up well against GSW. I think NO would give him the fewest question marks of if the team would be good.

While I don't think LBJ is a jinx, like Karl Malone was, I don't think it would add to his legacy if elects to do so.

Kinda of seems like an odd choice. You figure they'd want to go outside the organization, bring in some new perspective/blood. Being on the same staff with Casey, you would think they would share strategies and ideas. Unless Casey was completely dismissive of them.

your last statement might be key..from what I read all the changes last year came from above and Casey was ordered to implement them...now where his own assistants stood at the time, more with management or with him, maybe this answers that?

Money. They are capped out and can't sign him outright, so they would have to do a trade. Which means the Warios would have to trade Green and Thompson at the least to the Cavs. I don't think the Cavs are open to trading with the Warios. Hill, Thompson, Green, Love, Nance/Thompson is not going to beat the Celtics, so the Cavs are better off tanking and trying to stockpile assets. Offensively, that team really wouldn't have a player that can create their own shot. Green is a top notch defender, but his offense comes from being a 4th or 5th option with GS. Thompson is a great shooter, but isn't known for creating his own offense or creating offense for others.

Nurse was the designer of Dinos offence this year and it was one of the top in the league in efficiency. That's why Ujuri has confidence in him. In the playoffs Raptors remained as one of the best offences while their defence collapsed of which Casey was mainly responsible. We will see how this gamble will turn out but Nurse doesn't seem to have the leadership qualities that Steakhouse has. It would be the best to bring him as the head coach and keep Nurse as the assistant IMHO.

And to replay to the OP yes they repeat. Assuming KD comes back and I think he does.

The following years when KIay and Draymond need money it will get interesting. If Draymond or Klay get all NBA team, MVP, or DPOY that makes them eligible for Supermax. Nobody would pay that for Draymond, he is a good glue and good defender but he cant shoot and needs a specific system and surrounding players to thrive, like Ben Wallace on those pistons teams. Dray could possibly win DPOY and Klay could maybe sneak in a 3rd team all NBA so them being supremax eligible is not entirely out of the question although unlikely.

Someone else will pay Klay max though, assuming he just doesn't sign a contract extension this offseason for 25ish mil a year which appears likely. GSW has one or two repeats in then then ownership has to decide if they want to spend 200 million or not. Lacob has mentioned KD gets whatever he wants which likely the 4 years 160 mill max he can sign. that's 70 mill wrapped up in Steph and KD. Likely Draymond is the odd man out after the 2020 season

That's exacly what the Anothy Davis rumors speculate that trading Klay and Draymond for Davis. No way the Pellies do that one. But to bring in LBJ those two guys would have to be traded the same way. CLE would only do that if LBJ told them that the only way they get anything out of him leaving. Basically sign him to the max trade him for whatever or whoever he tells them to or he walks and they get nothing.

KT has already stated he hopes to be a Warrior for life and is willing to sacrifice a max/supermax deal to make the budget fit within association rules.

KD already showed by going to GSW instead of getting paid max to stay for more Cancerbrook failure that he'll leave money on the table.

Draymond has not been very vocal about where he stands on the "family that gets shaved a bit stays together" issue.

The biggest factor in who gets what is how big the pie remains. If there is waning viewership due to a lack of parity and no drama in the outcome of a long season/second season then the network contracts will shrink and salaries will go down with them. I think this offseason is pretty important to seeing if there are gonna be some new kids on the block to make GSW's road a bit rockier...or rocketer as the case may be.

Nobody's answering my hypothetical so far:

If LBJ/CP3 kumbaya happens and it's not in Houston, who could swing the deal to unite BFFs for a last hurrah? Is it even worth it?

Anywhere CP3 and Bron go will probably involve Dwade (all three UFAs now) and probably Melo the year after that. CP is demanding max apparently so if that happens Bron wont fit in my opinion.

They are making it feel like an forgone conclusion Bron is going to LAL. The Lakers have cap space basically to fit two max guys so I guess it would be there call as to weather that's Bron and CP3 or Bron and George.
LAL would make sense for Dwade because his wife and the whole Hollywood thing. They will all get extra endorsement money where.
And CP3 would be a good thing for Lakers and the young guys development. CP aint got too long until his body breaks down for good (if it hasn't already happened). But I think its worth the gamble if you could get Bron and CP3 on the same team. If they could work out a trade to bring George in the mix. Realistcally they would only have a 2 or 3 year run and that would be that.

The bulls got tons of cap space too at 40 mill, but I just don't think he would play in CHI because the Jordan thing.

Philly would be next at 30 mill but I don't think they would want CP3 at the cost of trading something.

So to answer your question I think the LBJ/CPD bana boat could happen and I kinda feel the chances are strong that it does.

Sounds like the Fedal prognostications around here. He's got a lot in the tank. Barring injury, which he has avoided, he stays in The Association long enough to pass KAJ in total points. I say one chip, maybe two along the way to 38,388.

Everyone has expected him o regress these past two years then he drops 51 points in a finals game.

He may not win another title but he ain't gonna not try. He wont go the Kobe route and insist on chucking up 30 shots a game on a bad wheel he will retire or gently slide into a lesser role like Duncan did.
