Can't believe the Raptors lost their opening game! Even more disbelievable is how I totally missed the game and had no clue it was going on!

I was even more surprised to see Dallas losing to the Warriors (though the GSW kinda owned them on the regular season) Also it was quite shocking to see the Spurs losing to Denver

Dallas had better not lose that series. I still haven't recovered from the NBA Finals last year, to the point that I barely even followed this season. If I see the best team get dropped in the first round, I'll lose all faith in the NBA.

Wow, Dallas lost to GS? I know that Don Nelson is coaching that team so he knows all the weaknesses but come on!

And yes Suns-Lakers Game 7 would be exciting. Game 7s often are, they are like the 5th set in tennis, all about heart.

My Cavs are lucky to play injury troubled Washington in the first round.Lebron James becomes a strong force in the playoffs.I witnessed it last year and hope that he will step it up this year as well.I believe that they are capable of reaching Conference final this year. What do You guys think about their chances?

all these teams are good, but do you know who is gonna win it all. It is the HOUSTON ROCKETS. They are playing good basketball, and they are gonna beat Utah in at least 5, and then beat the winner of the GSW vs. DAL series.

Argh, the refs GAVE houston the win yesterday. Jazz lost by 8 points and houston shot 21(!!!) more free throws. Oh well, guess they gotta send the fans home happy. Anytime someone brushes up against McGrady it's a foul.

I can't believe anyone cares about that series, even TNT is electing to not show Game 2 tonight(its on NBA TV)

east coast b'ball is really lame, its like the difference between watching Nadal play Federer & Robredo play Davydenko;)

Losing game 1 of your opening round means little now that first round is best-of-7. In fact, it's good for knocking the top tier teams, most who coast the last 5 games, into shape. Mavs and Spurs should pummel game 2.

They'll definately beat the Wizards, but I doubt they'll make the finals.
This series would be much more exciting if Caron Butler and Gibert Arenas could play. :(

Um... no. T-Mac gets fouled like crazy and they dont call any fouls. and then there is Yao, who gets fouled every time he gets down the court, but they dont call fouls on the other team. They actually call ofensive fouls on yao 2 times a game because he is tall. What kind of reason is that.

No! I just came home from a pub and the place was jumpin at every shot!
There was dunks and 3 pointers and blocks and alley-oops and buzzer beating threes and lead changes and down to the wire and what more you need?

You know who was in the crowd watching the game? The NFL MVP, yup La Dainian Tomlinson. There's no higher praise my friends.

It isn't a very big deal to me, as long as the Mavs or Spurs don't win it:) I find their brand of basketball boring. Deng and the Bulls are up 2-0 in their series now too. Defending champs might not make it past the first?

yeah the bulls are a threat in the east...i can see them in the Eastern conference finals. Overall Spurs v Nuggets will go to seven, and i also feel that Allen Iverson deserves an Nba Title and it can happen if they click. George karl can make it happen. Also, i hope golden state wins, Dallas and Dirk **** me off, His shot is weird and they only run 1 play in their offense, which is the pick and dirk roll. Oh and the nets series is boring i think....if Vince carter can get his game on, nets win. If not...Raptors will take it, although i do not personally like the team at all because i feel that they really dont have anybody else besides Bosh.

I just can't get into the NBA this season. But then, my home team is the Bobcats. Need I say more?

The Mavs really need to pick it up, losing to GSW 4 times this season is embarassing!!!!!!!!

Speed kills, GSW may not have the rebound height, but they are just too quick and Baron is just too strong, Dallas will probably plan to double team Baron, but you are leaving J Rich, Steven Jackson, Ellis, Harrington, Piertrus, and others wide open. They can go all the way...they beat everyone at least once in the WEST.

It's sad to see the Heat is struggling in the first round. Hope the old school heroes bounce back quickly like they did in last year's finals.

As much as I dont like the Mavs, I think they'll win the series. Best of 7 favors the better team vastly compared to best of 5.

BTW love the Charles Barkley/ Dwayne Wade T-Mobile commercials, jsut too funny :D

Haven't you seen the last month, Nuke? He's averaging 19.8 points in April, with 56% on FG, 52% on 3FG, and 35 mpg. Scored double figures in like 10 or 15 consecutive games ;)

You'll have to forgive me for not following the NBA season, but the Bobcats didn't exactly inspire me to keep watching. And if Herrmann is showing some genuine value as a player, well, as things usually happen in Charlotte, he'll probably be traded away to a better team (well, they're all better than the Bobcats).

I heard only 4 Rockets scored last night. I doubt that's ever happened in a college game, let alone NBA.
I think it's happened in a college game, and even in the NBA in a non-playoff game. It's the first time it happened in the NBA playoffs, though. But look on the bright side - their average points scored in the game (for players who scored) was like...16 or so. ;)

I never liked Utah Jazz, they play too dirty. From Carl Malone / John Stockton to today's players.
I've always liked the Jazz, but that may be a difference in philosophy. See, I like teams that will crawl through the gutter, if need be, to win a game. Detroit under Carlisle and Larry Brown was a good example of this. I like watching a team like that because you know you'll never find yourself asking: "I wonder what would have happened if this team had really been willing to get their hands dirty to win?"...like I was asking about the Mavs in the Finals last year (playing against a team coached by the notorious Mr. Ugly), or I will be asking about the Suns at some point this year. Because being better at basketball in a pure skill/team sense doesn't always mean you'll win.

Remember how close the Spurs and Mavs were last year. Spurs are the best team since the All-Star Break. Spurs over Mavs. Spurs over Pistons.

Oh no. The Raptors lost. It was a beat down however, the Raps did come within 7 points near the start of the 4th Q so it aint all bad.

It seems like Golden St is a bad matchup problem for Dallas.Miami is down 0-3, they arent going to win 4 games in a row, that series is over.I like the Pistons and the suns in the finals.

This is Brian Winters preview for the Spurs-Nuggest series

With two of the last four NBA titles on their shelf, the Spurs can almost be considered a dynasty. While the Nuggets, with two of the top eight scorers this season on their roster, can certainly be considered a potential upset team. We called on former NBA coach Brian Winters to break down the series and make a prediction.

WHAT TO EXPECT: SPURS

San Antonio is obviously a veteran team that is well coached by Pop. They’ve been together a long time, particularly Ginobili, Parker, Duncan and Horry. They have a lot more playoff experience. They’ve been there before, won championships. They have the best points differential in the league and they’re just a veteran team that has been a top team for a long time. They have a little more playoff experience, a little more chemistry, better defensively … they’re just a terrific team.
They want the tempo probably to be slower, more controlled so they can play off Duncan in the low post. They’ll run when they can with Ginobili and Parker slashing to the rim, but basically their goal is to play off Duncan in the post, control tempo and defend. A lower scoring game probably favors them.

WHAT TO EXPECT: NUGGETS

Denver on the other hand, they want to get some easy baskets. They want to try to run. Obviously, Iverson and Carmelo are their main scorers, great scorers, who played very well down the stretch both of them and their team played very well down the stretch. They won a bunch of games in a row at the end. George likes to get easy baskets. Not as good defensively as San Antonio, especially out on the perimeter. They can get beat off the perimeter, but they do have Camby to erase some shots at the rim which is very helpful for them.
Nene has played very well at the end here. It looks like he’s finally gotten himself in shape after getting over his knee injury. He and Camby are going to have to be the main guys to try and play Duncan and control Duncan and just play well against him. Make him work on defense and try to contain him offensively.

X-FACTOR: MANU

Ginobili is such an X-Factor. He comes off the bench and plays with so much energy. Denver has to be worried about Ginobili just having huge games offensively. I’m not sure who they have that can guard him. Is Carmelo going to have to guard Ginobili? Or J.R. Smith or one of those guys and, can they guard him? He’s such a factor slashing and scoring. Ginobili off their bench is huge for San Antonio.

DENVER: BETTER THAN A SIX SEED?

In the West they’re probably a six seed just because Houston and Utah are so good, and Dallas is so good, and Phoenix is so good, and San Antonio is so good. There are five top teams that have played very well all year. Obviously, Denver, if they had made the Iverson trade earlier and had him for the whole season, maybe they could have got in the top five, but in the West, they’re probably where they should be. Those other teams are good.

COACHING PHILOSOPHY: GREGG POPOVICH

If offensively he tries to control tempo and use clock to score, that slows the possessions down for Denver. I think he will do that. He’ll have Bowen on Carmelo an awful lot, although he may use Bowen on Iverson too if he’s having a great game. He has the ability to play a bigger player on Iverson so I think he’s going to try that. He has to slow one or both of those guys down. If both of those score 30 a night, that’s 60 points they’re getting and Pop probably wants the game in the low 90s and doesn’t want it to get over 100.

COACHING PHILOSOPHY: GEORGE KARL

George is an experienced coach, he’s won a lot of playoff games himself, but their team was kind of a team in the making because of the trade they made halfway through the year. I think chemistry wise they struggled for a while. I think a big key for them also is Kleiza and Smith have to make some weak-side J’s, perimeter J’s, to keep the defense honest off Melo and Iverson. They’re going to have to make some shots from the perimeter.

PREDICTION:

If the Nuggets are going to have any chance at all they’re going to have to win one of those first two games in San Antonio. If they go 0-2 and back to Denver, it sort of forces them to have to win both games there. I think it’s probably a six-game series. I think Denver can win a couple of games but I think in the end, San Antonio’s experience, defense, and just chemistry in general will overcome and I think they win in six games.

Ch4ng: Dallas should hold on and the win the series. I still like Dallas and Detroit in the Finals, but seeing the Spurs there wouldn't suprise me at all. Anyone who thinks the Suns can get through San Antonio and Dallas in the West is crazy.

Go Bulls! I was so happy to see the Heat get swept. I am laughing at all of the NBA analysis guys that picked the Heat to repeat.
