NBC coverage of French Open

Nice of NBC to switch the match of the No. 2 player in the world who is locked in a battle so I can watch Men’s gymnastics… Oh I can switch to Peacock to continue watching tennis? Oh but I have to pay for the stream that started on over the air? No thanks. You suck, NBC. Tennis Channel should have taken the match back.

This sucks so hard, NBC doesn't even have time to show a whole match then you have to sub to Peacock?

Guess I'll wait for the replay on TC and try and not hear the results first. Peacock? More like Suckc***.

The French Open coverage between NBC, Peacock, and Tennis Channel is a disaster, IMO. The NBC broadcast windows were known before the tournament, so it shouldn't be surprising that they switched to gymnastics. But I understand the frustration.

I am done chasing the French Open around the internet. They wonder why tennis has issues with popularity in the states.

I will ditch the NFL and College Football in the fall when they start this chase for the highest bidder with zero thought as to their fan base and viewership.

Sorry, but it's tradition to not start this thread until Friday, when you can't watch the men's semifinal match because NBC has exclusive coverage and they are showing the Today Show (and will show a tape delayed, edited version of the match to fit their time slot).

I believe Mary, John and "Baby Eagle" plan on discussing Einstein quotes for your entertainment (Mary said Einstein was a genius by the way).

Plus I believe the beginning of the gymnastics was a replay for the 1st half hour. Doesn't someone have the brains to ditch that and extend the match?
It's a ridiculous window for tennis. 12-3. So three hours? Are they hoping for a blowout?

At least ESPN had the smarts to extend coverage when matches went long or would use their networks to keep it free by switching from ESPN to ESPN2 or ESPN news.

At best I"d be fine if say NBC showed one whole premier match and then the other premier match on Peacock. But we get this half assed attempt to wheel you in.

The reason Peacock is $19 bucks for the year is to get you in, so when it autorenews a year later at $59.00 or whatever they hike the price up to, you forget about it and five years later you paid $400-500 for 5-10 French open matches.
I miss the days of Old Fashioned Cable. Sure if you want to be budget smart you could limit yourself to 2 or 3 services. But the reality if you are a sports fan, movie fan etc, you'll need at some point almost all the friggin networks.

Peacock is a shamless scam. But it is on sale now for $20 a year.
Worth it for the Djoker's Olympic matches alone.
Think Peacock might have some movies on too.
Yeah, I think that's worth it for the Olympics/ When I was younger I got so frustrated with Olympic coverage - delayed telecasts (events were over), lots of events not covered or only partially. At least now you can see so much more.

Haven't watched NBC in ages. NBC breaks away from the tennis match for gymnastics and never comes back to the tennis match?

Probably best if Tennis Channel or some network streams all tennis matches for the year. I think people would pay $100 or more for that convenience.

I also am discontented with the NBC/Peacock situation. Even though I already have Peacock, and yes it does have other shows that interest me, this business of handing off after three hours is annoying. NBC should care about tennis, the way they used to in the Evert/Navratilova, etc. playing days. Yes, give it all to Tennis Channel or ESPN or else, do better.

aw crap forgot about the olympics

NBC's coverage wasn't good even before Peacock came around. What's really upsetting to me is that even on Peacock, there's still only 1 feed. They don't have it like ESPN where you can choose any court you want.

They're still stuck in the single viewing experience like it's 20 years ago.
what? if your going to charge for streaming, you should be able to see all courts like espn+

glad tennis channel had the replay of the sinner match without the annoying nbc broadcasters

RG is arguably the least prestigious slam in the US, largely due to NBC's woeful programming,
Your anger is misdirected at NBC. It's the French tennis federation that apparently chooses to sell broadcast rights to multiple platforms, and those rights usually come with restrictions about how much time each outlet can have, and when they have to hand off to another outlet.

But NBC is making it selective for peacock

NBC set up a 3 hour window. Whatever happens in that hour for the main courts they show. When the window was up off to Peacock it went and then divreted to its already planned programming.
I know we aren't at the final, but imagine if NBC had the Superbowl and the superbowl ran past 9PM, Sorry switch to Peacock because at 9PM we have to go to Chicago Med.

Then you have to sit through countless ads just to get to a match you want to actually watch.

I didn’t know that, and it just seems so off!

Cancel right after signing up. You'll still have the year access
Good plan.
I think the marketing skeem of all these deals is to pull you in with the one show you want to watch and then hope you forget to cancel.
All the streaming serivces have some version of it. Unfortunately, Peacock's program selection is so poor, I'd basically be paying for the few matches I watch for Roland Garros and nothing else.

Why doesn’t Tennis Channel just take over full coverage of FO.

I do not have access to 'regular' NBC. The stream is exactly the same on peacock is it is on NBC. During that 3 hour window, the 2 streams run concurrently. So if you just start watching on peacock, you do not have to switch.

French Open coverage, as well as the entire clay court season, has always been difficult to find in the US.

The app can be better, as well. Should cancel them out of spite but they have wwe and that’s my comfort show. They did mess with the wwe app which made it harder to find matches.
It was annoying trying to find the tennis matches I wanted and just gave up.

Remember when streaming was cheaper than cable ? I pay for Youtube TV and that's it, nothing else. If I miss some sports, Oh Well ! Not playing the streaming service game.

Actually it was fine in the 80's and 90's. ESPN showed all the early round clay matches in MC, Barcelona, Madrid and Rome, as well as showing RG (semis and finals were on delay on NBC). I still have Lendl matches on VHS from the early 90's from ESPN during clay season. It's only been the last 10-12 years that watching clay season in the US turned into a nightmare.

I’m watching the Andreeva - Gracheva on Prime right now. Just checked Peacock and it’s all re- runs or highlights. Away from my tv right now. Is NBC broadcasting live right now?
