seriously please explain it feels good as one of nBlade converter

recently i have been switching between the n95 (asian) and the nBlade mp.

after a month, i still like the nBlade very much, but my serves and fhs are better with the n95.

i dont know if anyone have the set up i have for my nBlade.

i replace the grip with syn leather grip, then added a Yonex super grap.

i use Wilson Sensation 18s at 58 lbs with string savers.

for the string savers, i dont place one at each cross, i alternate.

i added the string savers not to prolong string life, but to add spin on my shots.

any comments?

Hi guys,
I need some help here. After playing with the nBlade and other frames for a while I come to the conclusion that the nBlade 98 is the one which suits the best to my style, over my other framce (Redondo, PDR, AG200). I swing the nBlade much quicker than the other frame and this really help me hit every single tennis ball.
The "problem" comes when I need to return big serves in which I notice I need extra weight on the racket, the Redondo would be my best choice to return but cant change racket for eery single shot during a match :-)
So well coming to my point, I think the time has come for me to add some weight to the nBlade!
I've experience at all, so I need a lot of help. I do not want to change the swing-weight. Which tennis lead teap would you recommend me?

personally, i would be more concerned about the total static weight and the balance of the racquet than the swingweight. you have to add about 1oz or 30g of weight to your nblade in order be similar to the redendo's static weight. use this swt calculator as a guide on where to put the weight; however, it will be hard to match the swt exactly.http://www.racquettech.com/store/learningcenter/lc_combinedswtbal.html

as a starting point, i would do the following:

- use heavier dampener like the Wilson Shock Trap Vibration Dampener to add 6 grams
- add 2 strips of the following tape on the insides of each of the yokes, 9 inches from the butt (uses 4 strips for a total of 12 grams) http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/descpageACBAB-BLT.html

play with the modified nblade to see how it feels with 18 grams of weight. you still have 2 strips or 6 grams of tape left if you want to add additional weight.

What's the power like on this racquet? Anything like Babolats?

it feels totally different than your pure drive. probably the closest racquet in the babolat line is the pure storm.

the pd and nb are on the opposite sides of the spectrum; the pd is very stiff and the nb is very soft so i'm guessing the nb will feel underpowered in comparison.

try and find one to demo. if you can't find one, try a something from the head radical family which has "similar" specs to the nb.

Thanks for the advise.

For start, I've put the wilson shock trap vibration dampener to add some extra grams.
Secondly, I bought unique lead tape (1/4 inches - 4inches = 1gram). Should I apply the weight at the 3 and 9 points?

I am looking to add weight, do not looke to make as heavy as a redondo. Possibly around 11.7 to 12 oz should be heavy enough to get some stability to return heavy serves.

What'd you think?

Ps, I do not want to change the swingweight ot the POP.

David

no problem, glad to be of assistance.

if you add the weight at 3 and 9 o'clock, you will be adding significantly to the swingweight and changing the balance of the racquet into a head heavy slug. no matter where you put the weight, you will be either changing the balance or the swingweight unless you are willing to experiment with a scale and spend time counterbalancing.

in general, i would recommend that you pay attention to the balance of the racquet rather than swingweight. swingweight is an abstract concept that measures the weight (leverage) of the racquet 4" up from the butt end. without getting into a heavy technical discussion on the merits, there is an increasing movement away from swingweighting amongst custom clubmakers in the golf industry. (disclaimer - i am a clubmaker, not a racquet designer).

depending on your perspective, you can do the one of the following:

1. swingweight perspective:
add the weight to the insides of both yokes (forks?) where they converge near the handle. start with 10 grams (5 strips on each side) since you will not notice a few strips of tape. total weight added will be about 16 grams with your dampener. this will change the balance of your racquet to more head light.

2. balance perspective:
add the 10g of tape close to the top of the insides of the yokes where they meet the string area. this will have miminal change on the racquet balance but add to the swingweight.

bottomline is you have to experiment with weight distribution (just like string setup) to find a setup that you like. i changed the balance of my nb to be head light by adding 15g of weight inside the bottom of the handle on my setup along with a Wilson Shock Trap Vibration Dampener for an 21g increase in weight.

good luck

Thanks carguy :-)

I will start experimenting this weekend with some extra weight on the nb.

Today I played with a guy who has a massive serve and was twisting my racket with every first serve, couldnt handle it at all. But then again when I managed to play during the points and I feft great with it, love the feel of the nb.

I weighed it today and went up to 330 grams with the overgrip + the dampener.

Btw, I got myself an aerogel 200 today....yeap, yeap, another racket.....but for as little as it cost me (was really a budget) I thought....what the hell! if I dont like it, I'll give it to my brother.......for that price....who cares!

Carguy, any experience with the aerogel 200? I am not expecting much of it but should be fun to hit a dunlop (first one ever). :-)

Hola, i just recently purchased an nBlade MP and it's getting here on friday. Needless to say i'm pretty excited about it. I've been using an nFury for a while and i was just wondering what the big differences are between the two rackets. I've heard amazing things about the nBlade and i guess I'm just curious what differences i should expect. I'm about a 4.0 with a 1hbh and i love to hit spin on both wings.

Oh and go ahead and add me to the club

I played with the nFury and didnt like it at all.......well not a bad racket but not for me. I suppose I got too used to the nBlade MP that when I compare it with any other racket in its range I just seem not to like the other!

First thing you are gonna notice is the weight. The nFury is under 10oz, to my taste far far too light. The nBlade is around 11.5oz with a dampener + overgrip, I still think that a little bit more weight would make it more stable than what it is......bit servers & hitters twist my nBlade at sometimes due to the power of the serves, I am still working to improve on this to make the racket more stable (kind of a redondo or prestige).
The stiffness + swingweight are quite different in this racket, they play very different from what I experienced.

I think you will like the nBlade unless you got too used to nFury and can't handle the extra weight on the swing and the stiffness difference.

Have fun with it and let us know your experience :-)

no experience with the aerogel 200; i was looking for a dunlop 300g before i found the nblade. my next racquet is likely going to be several kblades; i just got a gamma 602fc stringing machine so i'll be looking for the optimal string combination.

My strings are almost dead and look like gonna break soon! Any suggestions?

I am now about to buy another nBlade MP or wait for the new kBlade to come out!!!! But was looking to buy one for Xmas (well my girlfriend insists so happy days)........does anyone know when the kBlade will be out?

idk when the kblade is coming out but the nblade mp has been removed from tw?? and so have the venus/serena rackets so its got to be somewhat soon..

And i was about to order an nBlade. Should I wait for a bit?

And another question, has anyone compared or played both K95 16x18 and nBlade MP?

I really can't demo both of them because down here in London, they would charge me £20 each for a take out demo , pluss £100 deposit for each racket i takeout, if i don't purchase, they take my £20! A FRIGGIN RIP OFF!

Any advise please help, I was only able to test in their facility which is very limited, just hit with the wall. i love the solid feel K95 give me but I also like the flexibility of nBlade MP.

Am a hard hitter, mostly spin heavy more than dead-on down the line angel. (but i'm learning that too.)

Desperate to try both of them in the court! Help!
Thx

i'm told the kblade will be out in feb 08. it is supposed to be the same spec as the serena limited edition racquet. if you want another nblade, look around for clearance sales; i know there are some on the big auction site.

as for strings, you have to use lower tensions to compensate for the denser 18x20 string pattern of the nblade, otherwise, it will feel dull and boardy. don't know what string to recommend as i don't know your playing style.

i love the spin and crispy feel of poly strings, although i like the thinner gauges and softer versions. i'm going to MSV focus hex 18 gauge which is like a softer version of pro hurricane tour with reasonable durability for a thin poly. it will have better tension retention and more spin than the luxilon bb fluro i'm now using.

I am in shock that TW does not sell the MP any more and still keeps on sale the SO.

Is there any real reason? Why do they take off the MP and not both?

Regarding the new kblade having the same specs that serena's racket....I dont like it. I do not like the specs on her racket. It is a different racket therefore it will play nothing like the nBlade!

I guess I need to get a nBlade pretty soon before they are gone from the market.

Anyone interested in selling a nBlade MP 4 3/8?

Good luck - suddenly, the nBlade MP is gone EVERYWHERE it seems. And if you find it - sizes are limited.

So my nBlade still hasn't shipped. According to TW it's still back ordered and should arrive at the warehouse any day from now.

Translation: LAWL nBlade, good luck with that one buddy.

IN all seriousness though, i'd be willing to be theres just an influx of people wanting to buy the racket right now and none of the stores can keep up with it. I'm sure TW just took it down because they are so back ordered. Or at least thats what i'll keep telling my self....

Well I just got myself another nBlade MP before they are gone for good, they still seem to be in stock in UK.

I do not care they will discontinue this frame, i wont swift to the new kblade as I seem to finally settle down with this frame, after trying for few months different frames and set ups.

I just need to experiment a little bit with lead tape and tension but what it is clear to me is that this frame suits my style of tennis. I should now perhaps stick to these frames for at least a long while (hope to make it one year) and focus on improving my technique with this racket.

Long life to the nBlade

Can someone tell me the width of the head for the Nblade OS?

Or, put it side by side with a Radical OS and tell me which the difference?

Thanks.

i have my 2 nblade mp, still thinking if i should go pick up a third one at a local pro shot. i know they still have a lot there.

after trying different set-ups, i have just figure out my preferred nblade setup.

-replaced the grip with syn leather, then add an over grip.

-18 gauge strings, and put some string savers (alternate every crossing)

now my nblade is 11.7 oz, more headlight then stock form, and generate spin like a 16X19

Radical heads are like the shape of your traditional balloons. So Radical head shape is a more pronounced widened at the tip (near the bumper guard) and more narrow at the throat.

The blade one is more like prince's POG OS head shape.

Thanks, but I'm most curious about their width in the center/sweetspot. The reason I play with an OS mostly is due to my kick serve more than anything. I've grown accustomed to widebody of the Radical OS' and was wondering if the width is still there with the Nblade. The overall shape doesn't matter as much as the width.

Doc

width of the nb os is a shade is about 10 3/8" measured from the inner dimensions of the head. how wide is your mg ros?

Thanks. I'll have to measure it tonight. I don't play with the Microgel though, I play with the Limited Editions currently and am trying to obtain 2 Twin Tube Tours to switch to.

The Radical LE is 10.5" at the middle crosses.

I found this description from a seller on the bay.

The MidPlus version of the nBlade is used by top pros Novak Djokovic and Ana Ivanovic. The oversize has the same feel and playability as the midplus; however, the oversize is for players who are not yet on the Pro tour.

LOL. Not yet on the pro tour.....

Wilson Sensation 16g vs 17g

Hi guys,

I am about to re-string my racket and I do not know what to go for between those 2! The racket originally came with Wilson Sensation 16g and I really loved the feeling of those strings. Now I broke the strings and I do not know whether I should just get the same or get the 17g as some people say on the forum.

Which is the differences and what would you go for? Which tension? I like the tension it came with on stock!!! I dont know what it was though!!!

I never said he was using an actual nblade, I was merely quoting a description that I thought was funny.

Back on topic,

Has anyone hit with both the Nblade OS and the Radical LE? I'm curious which one seemed to be more powerful. Thanks.

have been playing with nblade for about 10 months now -- love it.
Have two of them and getting a third one before they discontinue them....

why is the MP 1.5x more expensive than the OS??

I played with both rackets and they both have great feeling and control. The only thing which I could think of for the OS to be more expensive than the SO is the demand.

There is a much bigger demand for the MP than the OS.

Customized my n blades (I've got 3 now) with lead tape at 3 and 9 o'clock... Wow, it feels even better. I've got more weight on my shots, and more stability against hard hitters. I'm able to hit a heavier ball and even volley better. Love to join the club after having demoed WAY TOO MANY racquets.

lured by the dark side ...

i've been tempted by the dark side and started looking at other racquets ever since getting beat by one of my regular playing partners with his new apd and his new (even) heavier topspin.

so to keep up, i'm going back to an open string pattern racquet with the flex and swingweight of the nblade. i just scored 2 of the new head microgel radical teams off the big auction site so we'll see how that works out (needs a bunch of lead weight to get into the 330 swingwt range). otherwise, kblades are next on my list, although i'm concerned about the stiffness of the kb mp.

i know the old cliche but us indians like to blame the arrows for all our problems.

could somebody tell me the spec of the asian nblade oversize? i know the weight is 294gms. but how about the balance?
