@Sureshot @ClarkC I like the idea of the NIT. However the teams that make early exit (2 seeds?) from NCAA may still have 1s and 2s who qualify for NCAA singles. Those guys might not want to play another tourney before NCAA singles. What are the dates for NCAA singles? Since this tourney will be held in Atlanta, I wonder if it will be held at Georgia Gwinnett which has hosted uTR PTT Tours. Is the NIT D1 only or open to teams of any division? Several Auburn guys played two back to back ATL PTT events a year or two back. Think one Auburn player won one and a different Auburn player the other. I could see a probable 2 seed Auburn playing the NIT except Stice and maybe others would qualify for NCAAs. NIT may appeal more to other divisions esp if a mix of D1 and top teams from other divisions. Is this the year where all the divisions have team champs in Lake Nona? Also collegians earned $$$-up to $3k for playing UTR PTT event. Will the NIT which I assume doesnt pay out $ since it is a team event be worth it to players who played a round at NCAAs? It may appeal more to the teams that didnt get in NCAAs to get in something though it would be less interesting to fans. The prestige of being best of 8 random teams is far less than being best of 64. Usually Futures dont start until June so players may be willing to hang around. I see it more appealing to southern or Florida teams or teams with more American players. The internationals may want to book a flight home as soon as team is out of NCAAs unless they qualify for NcAA singles. I wonder what % of international players who play summer Futures play them in their home regions, e.g. Europe, Asia, etc vs staying in US and playing. If they are staying in US, they could be interested in playing NIT. I hope the tourney draws good teams-living in ATL suburbs, it would be fun to watch.
