Need advise about New York racquets' tennis shops to pay a visit.

Hi to all,

I'm going to visit New York city next January for about a week, so I would like to visit also few tennis shops.
I'm mainly interested in shops which sell racquets (especially used ones, to get more of them without spending a fortune) hard to find here in Europe.

I'm thinking about Vantage, Bosworth, Srixon, Toalson, Mizuno, Bridgestone, ecc.

I have no idea if in NY there are tennis retailers which sell these brands, so any help would be appreciated.

Ps: I've never been to the USA before, is there someone who know if it would be a problem go through customs with a bag containing few racquets ?
I know that USA airports' customs do not go "easy" as for person/luggages controls :)

Thanks for any input!

R.P.N.Y. is the place to go in NYC, it is Roman Prokes shop and they do customizing for a number of top pros.

However, simply to buy used rackets? Your best bet is TW for sale forum :)

I already planned to pay a visit to R.P.N.Y. ;)

I do not know of any good used racquet stores in the city but in addition to **** you could stop by Mason’s, it’s a few blocks from **** and they’re very nice. If you head downtown towards Union Square, pop into Paragon sports. It’s a larger sporting good store, but they have a far wider selection of racquets than **** or Mason’s and every once in a while they will have very good deals on new racquets. **** is great, spend some time ogling the wall of pro player’s racquets they keep in stock in the store. Pretty fun.

Coming from Italy to NYC, I wouldn't waste time with tennis/sports shops. NYC is not a tennis mecca, and I've been to a shop in Lake Como, Italy, of all places, that had nearly the same selection as the NYC places mentioned above. Use your time for some offbeat places like the Museum of Sex on Fifth Ave at 27th Street, or the Chocolate Museum on Hudson Street. (A museum of sex AND chocolate would really be something to see!!)

Can’t believe someone still opens Tennis shop in NYC since it’s expensive to run stores hahaha.
Also those rackets are hard to find in US too.
I have to not seen any of those rackets in US local Tennis shops.
Toalson, Bridgestone, Mizuno rackets are not available in US and Europe. Best chance might be...trip to Asia hahaha.
Have fun at NYC ^_^.

I missed that-you’re right in that you’ll likely not find those brands in stores in NYC, Srixon being the one exception. R.P.N.Y. Is great if you’re looking for customization work and seeing some of the pro stock frames they store for your pros, but as a retail shop it’s not any different than most others.

I have not visit local stores in GA recently but have not seen Srixon rackets yet and not sure that local store will bring Srixon rackets to their stores since it will be too obvious that extremely slow sale or can’t sell at any without heavy discounts.

Then forget to buy anything in US.
Save money. Lots of money. If you go to Tennis stores in Japan, you might not want to leave there.
Unfortunately Japanese racket prices are one of the most expensive in the world.
Still you might be able to find good selection especially used rackets from specialized Tennis stores.
Honestly I have not been there but heard you can find good condition used rackets there but still it won’t be super cheap though. Also heard that less and less physical stores in Japan too nowadays but it’s just new trend for entire world...

I heard that Japan rackets' market is pretty good, especially for used ones.
Thanks for your confirm about it [emoji106]

I went to Mason’s last week because I saw something stating they had a large amount of Nike so was hoping to find some unique items. Small store ( it is nyc) and nothing different then what you can get anywhere at full ask.
