Need comfortable and durable shoes

Hall of Fame
- Nike Vapors last me 3 weeks (they break on top and the sole wears out) - but I love the comfort
- Yonex Eclipsions - the top stayed brand new, the sole wore out in 3 weeks as well
- Acics Gel 3s felt too wide for my feet ...
- Barricades last me 4 months!!! I don't mind the comfort, but I long for the joy of Vapors ...

Are there any shoes with durability approaching Barricades and comfort of Vapors?

Da Holy Grail of Tennis Shoes?

If you wear through Barricades in four months, you are just the type of player that is ridiculously hard on shoes!

I would just realize that fact and play in shoes that have a warranty so that I could at least get two pair for one, and happily go about thrashing tennis shoes.

Try Yonex Power Cushion Durable. Very comfortable with a 6 month guarantee.

Here's what Yonex has to say about the Durable line. I was inquiring about the Aerus Dash.

"Thank you for your email dated May 17, 2017 and thank you for your interest in YONEX equipment. This email is in response to your inquiry regarding the cushioning on the Aerus Dash tennis shoe.

The Aerus Dash has the same cushioning amount as the other models. The only exception is the Durable series which has a little less. You can learn more by looking through our catalog on our website."

There's no way to make a shoe that combines Barricades and Vapors that isn't a compromise on both their strengths. Vapors are extremely light so the durability is sacrificed, and vice versa for Barricades. I haven't worn Vapors, but I used to wear Barricades and switched to Resolutions, and I find they're just as durable and a bit lighter and more comfortable. I'd imagine they're more to the end of the spectrum towards Barricades though. Just lighter (feels like it anyway)

Besides being comfortable, Reeboks tend to be durable, especially if they're well built inch to inch on the bottoms. However, I'm wearing a durable pair of Saucony sneakers now.

I mostly play on hard courts, and those really eat through the soles ... I may just have to stick with Barricades ...

I'd recommend you take your car to Brakes-R-Us and get the brakes fixed o_O:eek:

Have you tried Barricade 17 Boost?
The new one is very comfortable.

That's why GR are half priced on all tennis stores lol

Further more, I've just started, two days ago, a brand new pair of Asics Gel Resolution and the uppers are flimsy (compared to Nike Lunars), making me over tie the shoe laces...
Alas (for me and good for you) the market agrees with me, hence the Lunars are the most expensive tennis shoe and hard to find on sale either.

Mind you, I'm build like Tsonga, like a real man :D

Tsonga is a real man ;)

Got the New Balance 1006 today. Went with the 11 1/2 2E. Very comfortable. Fits like a glove. Have to see about durability. The mesh uppers make the shoe feel cool and light.

ended up getting Fila Cage Deliriums ... (couldn't find Barricades on sale)

Played once ... hugs the foot well, but leaves a bit of space for the toe ... really stable (more stable than Brricades).
Needs a few more outings to fully form an opinion

2nd session ... coming to a conclusion that ...
(a) DEFINITELY not enough cushioning - my feet/knees are hurting
(b) The Hug is snug in the wrong places :( got blisters all over ....

:(
sucks

Interesting but not surprising. Durable is a light shoe and has thicker rubber so they have to take weight out somewhere. Doesn't mean it's not an extremely comfortable shoe and relatively durable (with warranty). Good room in the toe box. Seems like a lot of people didn't like the Eclipsion because it is narrow, has a high arch and is not too durable. Durable is wider with a lower arch and more durable, duh.

The problem with Yonex imo is they are not carried in many brick and mortar stores so it's difficult to try them on without buying. It's a great shoe though (might last dimkin 2 months lol).

As far as I know, it's impossible to try on Yonex shoes in New York City. What surprised me is that the Aerus Dash, which are even lighter than the durables, have more padding. Yonex took the weight off of the top of that shoe.

Comfy and Durable... in the world of tennis shoes, you can't have your cake and eat it to!
