Need help choosing a new racquet

Last summer (late June, 2006) I started taking tennis lessons again, and have taken them twice a week since. I have been using a Prince Triple Threat Warrior that is a good 4-5 years old now, and it has been a fairly good racquet. However, as I've gotten better at playing, I've started to realize that the swingweight is probably a lot higher than I'd want in a racquet.

I'd like to start looking at a new racquet now to help continue my progress as a player. Below I've provided some answers to questions I've been asked in the past when looking for a new racquet:

How old are you?
23

How tall are you?
6'2"

Do you like to stay at the baseline?
Yes, I generally play from the baseline or slightly up. I generally don't play at the net.

How do you like the power level of your current racquet?
I feel I can generate a good amount of power with my current racquet and still control the ball for the most part.

Thanks in advance for any input, suggestions, advice, etc. Links to racquets on the tennis-warehouse site would also be appreciated. If you need to know any additional information, please let me know.

I doubt your current racquet will impede your progress. But I know what its like to get "new racquet fever"-I get that affliction every couple of months.

Personally, I like heavier racquets and I am am a lot older than you and probably in worse shape. Spend the $10 or so and demo a lighter racquet and see how you like it. The choices are too numerous to mention and everyone has their favorite. Try this-use the TW racquet finder, feed in the desired specs and see what comes up.

Good luck.

what's the racquet u use right now?

An original Prince Triple Threat Warrior

I'd like to use that, but I don't know enough about all of the specs to actually find myself a new racquet based on specs. Mainly I just wanted to see what people suggested, and then I'd try to demo them locally and make a decision.

Sure you do.

Use your current racquet specs but with a lighter static weight.

People can suggest a lot of racquets and you will be in the same position you are now. Maybe a little self education re-racquet specs would be helpful.

Try the Dunlop M-Fil 200 Plus. It is heavy, but a good, solid racquet for baseliners that can generate their own power. I would also reccommend you try the Babolat Pure Drive Roddick.

Second that Dunlop M-fil 200 +, but if you can handle it, go with the original or any of the racquets in the Dunlop 200 category. If you are using the Warrior MP, go to the OS (little more power and a little lighter).

I have used the Roddick, my brother demoed it before buying his new racquet, and I didn't like it too much.

I'll see about getting a demo of the Dunlop racquet.

the wilson nsix-two could also be an option. try to demo this one too. also the ntour is currently selling at a low price, or if you want the "up-to-date"-version, than take the ntour two out for a hitting session.

yes it is, even if it was not my style. it's a good racquet and might be supportive of your gamestyle.
