Need help with Prince Graphite OS (1983)

I recently got a Prince Graphite Oversize that was made in 1983. It is the "One Stripe" version of the POG OS, and it just says "Prince Graphite" on the frame (it did NOT say Series 110 or etc).

This racket is in great shape however the grommets are turning to dusts when I touched it. And this racket uses individual grommets, and has no bumper guard. I put it next to a Prince Graphite Series 110 (also 1 stripe), to my surprise, even the drilling pattern on the 5/7 o'clock is NOT the same. What the hack. Is it suppose to be like this? In this case how can I find the grommets that could fit this racket? It would be such a pity if the racket can not be used due to grommets, cuz the frame itself is in pretty good shape.

Any racket historian could give some tips? Thanks!

Correct. This is a completely different frame to today's Graphite. Head size and shape are different. String pattern is different. Pretty much everything. Even the handle shapes are different. For grommets, you'll have to get fittex individual ones, since no strips or bumpers will fit, and Prince is LONG out of the individual ones.

It seems a daunting task even harder than finding such a racket...

Don't give up

If you service your own frames get the Fittex bits you need , take your time and install them. Otherwise find a full service stringer and ask them to do the job.

I have tried putting some other frame's grommets in there (not trying to put a whole piece, but just trying to put in a few holes). To my big surprise again, the wholes on this Prince Graphite are slightly too small and no grommets can fit into ANY hole. What the... Is it jsut me or there are other grommets that are smaller that could possibly fit in?? Thanks!

The smaller size of the Fittex should fit. Otherwise track down the Badminton size of Teflon tubing.

When you can locate Teflon tubing<black in color> it is generally thinner than the nylon. Also the color blends into most rackets.
