Need Help with sore toes

I have a pair of Barricade II Mid that I've played in three times.
The shoes are very comfortable and supportive, but by the time I'm through playing my big toes hurt from jamming into toe of the shoe.
I don't think I bought them too small because they feel good otherwise.

I've been wearing thick-bottomed socks and I don't really notice my foot sliding in my shoes and I don't have blisters.
Would "tennis " socks help? Any suggestions on a brand.
Thanks.

A few things to try:

1. Ortho-inserts- they add size, making your toe box very snug.
2. Thorlos- they have thick lining around the toes.
3. Taping your toes- speaks for itself.
4. Tightening the laces at the bottom, near the toes.

I have had the same problem in the past. Years ago, I tried wearing Nike shoes (can't remember the model), which are nortorious for small toeboxes. I suffered through hammertoe - ouch! My solution was to get shoes with a larger toebox and use proper lacing. I found that looser lacing in the toe area and tighter in the uppers works best for me. Currently, I use K-Swiss Stabilor SLS with zero toe issues. If you can't buy new shoes, Thorlos do help.
