Need help with switching shoes.....

My buddy has been playing tennis in running shoes for a while, the kind that are pretty light. He recently bought a pair of RBK Triple Break Pumps and thought they were great. But he hadn't ever used tennis shoes for tennis. He switched from a superlight running shoe to a tennis shoe that provides more protection but it's a lot heavier (almost 9 oz. from his original pair!) He's a pretty big guy using size 11. So I ask you: what would you do in this situation to help smoothly transition?

I say it's going to take time. I was the same when I transitioned from RShoes to TShoes. I loved how light they were, but they didn't last. The support was never a problem as my footwork isn't highclass yet where I can roll my ankle so that wasn't anything big for me. I bought some Babolat TAC III's as my first pair and it was an awkward experience having the weight and the plasticky feel from the toegaurd, but I'd say after like 3 session or 6hrs of playing I felt comfortable running and such with them. It is a hard transition, but not impossible. I suggest that maybe he take both to the tennis court. Warm up hit with his TBP's and if they bother him take them off and put his rshoes. The thing is to break the shoes in as well as get used to the added weight and feel of them.

Finally, a non-troll post on this thread  My friend Daryll thanks you.

Whenever he can i would suggest wearing the tennis shoes as much as possible. maybe not to run around every with, but when taking walks or a stroll in the park, just wear them to get use to.

try the adidas feathers. i'd also recommend the asics line.

i'd get him out of runners as quickly as i can. they really don't offer enough lateral support, and you can easily turn an ankle.

i'd actually recommend playing in basketball shoes over running shoes.

Ok, please read the text before you post. I already found my tennis shoes in the RBK triple break pumps and so did he. He just wants to know how to break into them more easily.
