Need Serious Help... Experts welcome.

I desperetly need a new racquet. I am a big server/ baseliner, focused on forehand winners. I'm 16 and about a 4.0. I swing very hard, and I'm pretty strong (I play defensive end in football). Maybe that will help you lead me in the right direction.

I've been using the nBlade, and I like how I'm able to fully swing out, but I'd like something with a little more weight, but similar swingweight. And I don't know if 18x20 is great for me. The nblade is about 11.3 oz, and I'm looking for something in the 12 oz range.

Three racquets I'm considering:
nsix-one 95
nBlade leaded
FXP Prestige

Which of tge following would you suggest? (Keep in mind, I have very little experiance with lead tape, and highly prefer to use racquets stock.. but if leading up the nblade to make it a little heavier but a little more headlight is easy and highly recommended, then I'm down.)

My local pro shop has a FXP prestige I'm going to demo monday, but is it a good player's racquet? Also, does the nsix-one have too much power?

I would definitely try the lead-tape on the nBlade first, and go from there. I would add some at 3 & 9 o'clock.

I've got the perfect racquet for you.

It's called the "DEMO".

You should try it out sometime. It's an eye opener.

On another note why do you feel you need to lead up the nBlade or go higher than 11.3 ounces?

You might have a little adjustment period going from the 11.3 ounce weight of the nBlade to a nSix-One 95 and FXP Prestige. However the nSix-One has roughly the same swingweight as the nBlade so you might be ok.

Just my two cents.

To be honest, I'm going to demo, but I need to buy within 2 weeks... I have NO racquet, and I want to get practicing again (I'm back from a huge, career ending shoulder injury in football, but it has no effect on my tennis game so far, thank God).

I want a little extra weight on a racquet because I feel that the nBlade is a little too flimsy on serves.

The problem with adding lead tape at 3 and 9 o'clock on the nBlade is that it's already 2 points HL... I don't want to go into head heavy, I want it to be the same or a little more headlight.

Ronnie, have you heard of ProKennex Redondo?

If not, visit the thread in my sig.

It's got the goods your require.

I tried the Redondo once, but it didn't feel as nice on my forehands.. it was for 5 minutes though. I might try it if my local pro shop has it. Can anyone comment on the racquets I've listed?

Just counter the weight with some at the butt. You can actually put a little more at the butt and make it a tad more headlight.

SO.. experts... it would be perfectly normal to add about .7 grams of lead tape to a racquet?

Can anyone comment on the FXP prestige?

I am no expert, but I have added more than that before. I really love the control that lead gives me, I can pretty much make it exactly what I want it.

It's been my demo of choice for the last 2 weeks or so, because the demos at my tennis court place are free. I tried the PDR+ and absolutely hated it. Didn't like any Babolats, really. I need something pretty low powered, but capable of blasting forehands and serves with the right swing.

I had a similiar situation to yours...kind of...4.5 player, 17 years old, 6'5 200lbs, used to play DE in football too acctually. I was using a n6.1 95, but didnt really like the feel I was getting from it, thought I wanted a LM Prestige Mid, but then demoed the Pure Control, which wasnt what I intended to go with in the first place. The Pure Control is fairly stiff (not as stiff as the n6.1 95), bigger headsize, and pretty powerful. But when I demoed it, it was golden. Serves bombs and is great on groundies. String it at a higher tension and its perfect for me, IMO.

The only issue with the Pure Control with you, would be your shoulder injury, the stiffness might end up hurting your vulnerable shoulder, but I would give it a try.

If you want very nice control, the prestige line is great. I like the current rendition, because it is kinda stiffer and lets you get some nice clean winners
