Need strings that feels like Head Lynx Tour

New User
I love Head Lynx Tour, the feel and durability are the qualities that I most value, BUT the Head strings has been sold out in every store in my country for almost 6 months now.
My only options are to (1) Buy the string from other country or (2) Test new strings to replace Lynx Tour

For the option 2 I would like your opinions on which strings are closest to the feel and durability from Lynx Tour, the brands that are most common (in any order) here in Chile are:
- Yonex
- Kirschbaum
- Signum pro
- Solinco
- Luxilon
- Volkl
- Dunlop
- Tecnifibre
- Topspin
- Genesis
- Babolat
- Zons

I really would appreciate if you help me with a few options to begin the testing, thanks!

From my experience MSV Focus Hex and TruPro Black Knight are even better than Lynx Tour and they are cheaper, which will compensate for shipping.

I had read a number of times that Lynx Tour was Head's response to Solinco Hyper G

Whether or not true, it doesn't seem like a bad place to start

I know they're just "lab numbers," but they look pretty close:

PropertyHead Lynx Tour 17 (1.25)Solinco Hyper-G 16L (1.25)Difference %
MaterialPolyesterPolyesterNA
Stiffness (lb/in)2182180
Tension Loss (%)24254
Energy Return (%)9089-1
Spin Potential7.16.1-14
String to String Friction (COF)0.0790.0914
String to Ball Friction (COF)0.5640.55-2

To me, Confidential didn't feel as similar, even though Hyper G just feels like Hyper G and nothing else feels quite the same.

For me (and I've read others, too), Confidential has a nonlinear aging pattern. It would play crisp for the first couple of hours and then "break in" and play notably more powerful for the rest of its life.

Hyper G.. hexpnic power maybe

Hyper G doesn't feel anything like Head Lynx Tour IMO.

Neither does Kirschbaum Max Power, but that is an amazing string.

Doubt it feels super comparable, but Max Power Rough looks pretty close to Lynx Tour:

PropertyHead Lynx Tour 17 (1.25)Kirschbaum Max Power Rough 17 (1.25)Difference %
MaterialPolyesterPolyesterNA
Stiffness (lb/in)2182232
Tension Loss (%)242713
Energy Return (%)90900
Spin Potential7.15.6-21
String to String Friction (COF)0.0790.08811
String to Ball Friction (COF)0.5640.496-12

At least in the lab...

Do they still make Rough?

Regular Max Power is a lot stiffer.

What about Yellow Jacket or Firewire? Someone can share some feedback
Never tried Firewire, but I have quite a bit experience with Yellow Jacket. It doesn't feel anything like Lynx Tour. Lynx Tour is more firm and crisp and low power. Yellow Jacket is not crisp, but not mushy, can be a bit plasticky, and a bit more power than Lynx Tour. Overall I much prefer Lynx Tour.

Wow - what country do you live in? o_O
Had the same problem with Intellistring in Australia. They eventually tried to charge double the recommended retail for a relatively niche string with a dedicated following. No one much kept buying it because it was too overpriced even for our market & then when it disappeared from sale locally we were prohibited from buying from overseas - killer company, especially considering they don’t even make their own strings.

Wow - but who banned that?
I can get pretty much all legal strings from worldwide shipping.

But you can make it yourself anyway. Head Rip Control and Isospeed Professional Classic in 1.30 are the two strings used.
They are available from us in Austria on 200m reels.
They last a long time.

Lynx Tour is crisper than Hyper G. The strings I think would be similar-ish w/r to a cripser feel would be Solinco Tour Bite, Tour Sniper, and BHS7T
I’m close to finalizing my setup and am trying to figure out which of these strings ( lynx tour, tour bite , tour sniper, BHS7T) i want to use.

In terms of power, spin, and crispness do you think these four strings compare to each other and rank???

You might like yonex poly tour strike if you like lynx tour.
I really like Poly Tour Strikes addictive crispy feel. It’s my favorite round poly & Tour Sniper for a shaped Poly. Lynx Tour & S7T both have that crisp feel too, but to hard on my arm.

Wait - I think poly tour strike is shaped, no?

Edit - it’s round! Huh I’m just learning more about yonex strings now that I’ve been using yonex racquets, had stayed away given the price

Strike really does have an incredible feel. If it had a little better spin potential I wouldn't use anything else. Tour Sniper is pretty much a clone of Lynx Tour in my opinion, just plays a little bit softer. Hawk Touch is an excellent crisp string as well.

I thought Lynx Tour was a Hyper-G clone.

Lynx Tour is stiff but responsive. And it's somehow comfortable.

Confidential is stiff and dead. Your arm will fall off if you string too high for example 24kg and play with it for 4 weeks.
Funny thing is I play Confidential 1.25 at 22kg exactly and after I start to find something else got a serious case of GE after almost two years of using Confidential (Broke after 4-5 hours)
Even Lynx Tour felt stiffer or close to TB and even TB don't bother me as much as Lynx tour. Good string but maybe in my racquet was a jarring and usually play it lower than Confidential

This is a good example why a lot of string feel is so subjective. Different rackets can make a string feel and play completely different player to player. I like lower RA and heavy frames so I can get away with using stiff strings. In fact Lynx Tour is very comfortable and plush to me in my Prestige Tour. It seems like lighter rackets that are quite stiff, make some of the stiffer strings really feel boardy and cause injury. Would love to know what frame you use @RNBABOLAT ???

PSVS user with a few mods so in this case this might not be that applicable since racquets are some sort of similar. I like Lynx Tour but in my racquet was not something spectacular compared to Confidential or TB.

I think a lot of times it’s about the vibration of a string or the racquet that gives people TE. It’s not always about the stiffness & agree with you.

I have Lynx Tour 1.20 in both the PSVS and 2021 Prestige Pro and it feels plush and comfortable. Confidential felt stiffer to me. But I've also heard the opposite, so maybe it has something to do with stroke style or RHS - Confidential does seem to come alive at higher pace where Lynx Tour tends to stiffen up.

Tour bite has become the staple in all my setups. Didn’t try tour sniper or BHS7T as tour bite was more than good and from what I read, tour bite generally offers the most crisp ball.

So how does it play compared to lynx tour ? And you like it better ? I had a huge feeling you will chose tour bite lol

More crisp and stiff that lynx tour. I think slightly better spin. I think lynx tour slightly more power.

Haven’t played with lynx tour in quite a bit
