Nervous

Man I feel so weird right now... I'm playing in a tournament and first round singles match is tomorrow and im so nervous. We already played doubles already and me and my partner are in the finals. We almost lost our semi final game though...cause i get really nervous when I play people who i know nothing about... we were down 0-5 and we came back 7 games in a row to win the first set then won the second set 6-2.. we start baddd... but yea , im not trying to be cocky or anything but i think i got a chance of winning this tournament. I've probably played everyone in the singles thing before.. i feel like i can win tomorrows match but man im still nervous...

Should I go to tennis clinics in the morning ? we have them 8-12 and my match is at 4:30... or should i just save my energy

Save your energy. Don't worry about it, either-- I play (sorry to sound like a self absorbed dick) high level tennis, travelling 20-35 weeks a year or more, and i get nervous before every match.. its a mental thing, really.. once you get through the warmup, maybe a couple games, you can settle down and find your rhythm.
one thing, though-- you may be able to win this tournament, and all the best to you, but take one match at a time.. don't have the mindset of winning the title when you enter your first round match.. focus on one opponent at a time, one round at a time, one set, game, point at a time.

for the nerves, i reccomend a lot of sleep, a good breakfast, sleep in if your match isn't until later, get a half hour hit in, have some fun! listen to music you really get into and work out a game plan for your opponent with your coach.

play video games...something to put your mind off tennis...
although being nervous can help you react better during the match...its like having a sixth sense on court...(youll see dead balls...LOL)

I'd rather play someone I know nothing about than a friend or someone's game that I know. I like to get pumped before my matches also drink a lot of fluids so your stomach doesn't get that empty butterfly feeling.

wii tennis is so sweet.. good call on the fluids too-- keep it as high as you can tolerate really.. Its currently 37celsius here, so I imagine its hot everywhere, hahaha

I CAN'T BELIEVE ITTT !!! I LOSTTT.... :( im so mad at myself that I want to jump off a bridge or something... the score was 0-6 5-7... I don't know what to do about myself... Im sitting at home but i dont feel normal... feels like something is missing inside me... then when I got home I got a long long lecture from my dad. He said that I did the same thing to much like I would hit the ball to his back hand he hits it to my forhand i hit it to his forehand then i hit it to his backhand and over and over... I was down 1-4 in the second set when I decided to just keep the ball alive... and i came back 5-5 then we played like 20 deuces... then I had nothing else to give.. 2 and a half hour match and im exhausted... that dude would hit these shots that bounced really high and I had to move back and back... I wasnt in a good position so I mostly played Defense. I put a lot of spin on my shot but they would hit in no mans land so it gave him time cause it kicks up.... I wish i could last longer... after 5-6 i had no more.. my big toe was hurting.... now I dont got a trophey or a medal or anything... I left with nothing :(... but good thing im in finals for doubles.... I better win... i know is not all about winning but my dad wants me to be goood and he gets upset everytime i lose and he wants me to take it very serious.... I SUUUUCCCCKKKKK...

Cool down bro, don't sweat the small stuff-- focus on your doubles matches, and don't let your dad get to you.. regardless of what happens, he just wants you to enjoy your time on the court.

yea im kinda cool down now...man my parents had a long talk to me at dinner lol... i learned a lot... i think im ready for another single match... the problem is that i never took any risk and i didnt finish the point ever... i was down 1-4 second set.. so i just tryed to keep the ball in play and not hit any angles or down the line... though i was hitting full power the whole time... not hard as i can but hard.. i just kept it in the middle to the sides but a little away from the line... i hit it all over the court trying to make him tired... ionno man i guess i didnt come prepared... maybe if i did better in the start i wouldnt have to work so hard to come back... i was moving like crazy making sure I in perfect position... but o well i learned from my lose... needa keep the ball deeper to

Hang in there Silentgunz, I'm sure you're not playing for the trophy persay, but b/c you love the game. Hopefully it'll be the 1st of many for you. I won my county's Fall Hardcourts Mixed Doubles title & got a trophy smaller than that & it just collects dust on a bookshelf with the other dozen or so trophies I've won playing tennis.
