In 2023, adidas will update the legendary adidas Barricade. The new model will have a similar design, but shed the large adidas logo on the interior sides, reinforced rubber in the interior toe area, and increased padding of the tongue. The outsole tread pattern has some slight changes. The back of the shoes will display the adidas 3 stripes logo. The shoes have already been seen on court with Felix Auger-Aliassime.

Anyone know when this will launch ?

Thx . I need some new shoes and would love a decent color of Ubersonics or barricades without the huge logo

I've seen another version of the new barricade with the Adidas 3 stripes logo on the inside where the big Adidas word was.

Wonder what the final version will look like. We discussed over a month ago in the barricade thread. Guess should have started a new thread!

let me tell you about the heel blisters on the 2022........

both inner heels, nickel sized. skin ripped off. both feet cut higher up on the achilles where the very high topline ends. day 5 in the shoes and they're slowly breaking in. i put round bandages over the inner blisters ( that are healing ) and the scabs at the topline dont bleed anymore. you'd probably be thinking WTF, throw those things away, but day 5 is heaven compared to the first 2 days. can't return the shoes unfortunately, so i have to live with them.

I would like to point out that these shoes where very well fitted when i put them on in the store and had them on for atleast 30 minutes. they sat lower than the FF2's which i had on the other foot and had a more planted feel. both were comfy, but i went with planted feel over the higher, floating feel. only when you start playing with them that your feet start sweating and the heel starts moving around that the fun begins. i'm now also tightening the laces nice and snug, so that may be helping as well.

I’m amazed they cause blisters for some 100% but not for others. 1.

I guess to cross off the basics, a tennis shoe should be totally snug, maybe folks got used to playing with looser shoes that didn’t rub like these do. 2. Also these require going down half a size.

Your mileage may vary of course but the above two points may help

No blisters for me ordering true to size and wearing thick thorlos. Actually helped with Achilles pain I got from GR8s and FF2s. But I moved on to the Lav V2s since the barricade cushioning is pretty minimal

I agree with you on the Asics shoes. Not enough proper cushioning. Ther best alternative to a Barricade wearer I have found so far is the the BABOLAT PROPULSE FURY 3. They are very well balanced shoe with great stability. A nice performing shoe all around. Cushioning is very good, fit is medium, maybe a smidge generous compared to something like a Barricade. This shoe is a better performing shoe all-around to the Asics Court FF3, the Asics Resolution 9, the Adidas Barricade, or any Nike shoe made today. It feels a bit like a Diadora Blushield shoe in terms of cushion but like a Barricade in terms of stability. Closest shoe I can think of to compare it to might be the Diadora B.Icon - which is high praise in my book. I just got my pair, but so far, I like it a lot. Definitely a shoe to try out. Could be the best shoe of 2023!

These look better than the current gen, but no more barricades for me. A brand new pair, 20h in, and the outsole is already gone.

Never again.

sooo, Good news, no more blisters on the insides of the heels. i tighten them up tight. Bad news is QC is lacking, left shoe is a bit more narrow on the toes, so my middle toe nail is now black and will probably fall off. other than that, the shoes are breaking in. LOL

i'm a glutton for punishment.

I have worn Barricades for years but went to Ubersonic bc I was tired of my toenails turning black and falling off. But same happened in Ubersonics. Thicker socks have helped but still not great. Would love to go back to Barricades but I think they are too harsh on my toenails

Went back to my hypercourts for a game and confirmed that the barricades have zero heel cushioning. lots of achilles pain as you start playing, while the hypercourts had no pain. I've thrown in dr scholls sports insole with the gel heel cushioning and walking around in them a bit, i could tell it was soo much better. Wont really know till i play in them next, and i wont know if the more padded insole will also help cushion my toes. we'll see.

What’s hilarious is they have to innovate and change the design when they’ve had countless barricades that are a million times better. Same with Nike, just change the colors but keep the shoes.

Still my go-to shoes- I have 3 pairs in the rotation at the moment- but I miss the ones that had a regular tongue vs the super snug sleeve.

Threw in dr scholls sports gel insoles. much better. no heel pain from the impact. the gel absorbed it well. the insole also helped with the toes as well. highly recommend insoles for these shoes. Still not the best, but atleast i can wear them till they wear out now.

These the 2021s or 2023s?

Ended up trying a pair of the 2021s at my local sporting goods store. Fit was perfect for my feet especially in the toe box, which is rare given my wide toes. Did start to notice rubbing on my Achilles though in just the 10 mins I had them on while walking around. Does that break in, and is it worth the pain if it does? Or should that be an immediate sign to look elsewhere for shoes?

Also might go for the clay version, which I’ve heard has slightly softer uppers. Any truth to that?

Achilles pain disappeared after a few sessions for me.

Barricades made my calves hurt like crazy. I went through 2 pairs that were fine, but my third set absolutely murdered my legs for some reason, and the padding was a joke.

Yeah I have the 2021 versions now and worn them about 4 times. Love the stability, but they give me a blister on one of my toes and my feet hurt in them if I'm playing for a long time. Such a shame as I was looking for a solid and durable pair of shoes but I'd rather have something a lot more comfortable even if less durable.

It's interesting how different shoes can be for people. KSwiss shoes give me terrible plantar fasciitis, with insoles or stock. Barricades? Not even a hint of an issue.

Same here. Have worn mine three times and they were perfect out of the box.. I did order a couple pairs and kept the ones that felt best. One pair, the right shoe felt a bit narrow so I returned those. I have a narrow heel but otherwise wide feet. Zero achilles issues, but did have a bit of pain on the bottom of my heel the first go around. That’s gone now.
Funny observation but I got the Ecru tint colorway and there’s a Kama sutra looking graphic on the heel above “barricade” It’s the only colorway with this graphic. Wonder what the meaning is

Ubersonic 4.1’s look promising. Hard to be sure but it looks like they’re updating the terrible lacing eyelets, and keeping all the things I like. Good news.

Adidas getting rid of the word adidas in their logo in a big branding change. Only 3 stripes will be left. All apparel will have this change too and all sponsored players can’t wear old stuff coming soon!!

You can already see this on the new shoe.

Kama Sutra lol!! Couldn’t find any mention of the logo during a quick search on the line either. Shrug emoji.

WOW. I had the same with the Ubersonics. I was wondering why they turned black. There just is ZERO cushioning in the toe box for big toe.

It could be that you are not wearing a proper size and your feet are sliding too much within the shoes. Just a thought. I see this in skiing all the time.

I think those are just mockup/generics and not actual colorways of the shoes
They're real! Have seen them, they are out in a month. There's a reverse black/white colorway as welll.

Also the collar around the heel is wayyyy more padded now. Not just the hard back with the little pods.

Digging the redesign. I didn't dislike the Adidas on the inside of the shoe as much as others, although it was absolutely pointless.

Looking at the updated shoe makes you wonder how hard it would have been to release this. Guessing the designers of the current model were instructed to go out on a limb to grab eyeballs. Not really necessary with the lineage of the Barricade, seemed like a calculated risk to turn peeps off....like the Nike re-release of the Vapor 9 at the ridiculous price point.
