does the k7 has a trap door ?
and is there a free access to the handle chambers, so that you can put blutack in them ?

The TC97 16x19 is my go to racquet for over 18 months now, I’ve also hit with the tc95 16x19 and more recently the Wilson UT.
I picked Up a K7 and I actually think it feels how I’d expect a Wilson UT with a 16x19 pattern would play even though the UT is foam filled.

I agree with most reviewers it has a more muted and buttery feel than the custom range, mine must be under 60 RA strung, I need to check in the new year.
Has a launch angle between the tc95 (highest) and TC97. Has plenty of spin potential with correct technique
Power is good on my frame considering the low RA and swing weight, my frame is 325g strung, I’m hitting it stock now and I’d say it would be comparable in power to the other tc’s if you build the SW up to similar level. Gives a real nice thump sound on impact too, incredible on backhand side (2 handed) for me, not sure why this would be but I don’t think I’ve been happier at such an early stage with a frame.

In my opinion it is more buttery feeling and a slightly more muted feel (which I feel are one in the same) than other Angell racquets I have hit with. I would not say that it produces any more spin than the other Angell 97 racquets. I felt less power than the Custom Angell racquets but not a huge marginal difference. I feel that spin is more a function of the players strokes than the racquet composition. There was no difference to me in the control/directionality department.
Hi Geoff nice writeup! any idea of the strung RA? Is the feel like the dull thud of Heads twaron racquets or the crisper braided kevlar of Wilsons? Thanks!

Hello @Zoolander I felt that the K7 was a mix of both the Head and Wilson frames. I feel that the Angell custom frames are almost identical in feel to the Wilson H racquets and the Kevlar in the K7 gives a different response that is more Head like. I know we would like everything in a racquet and this frame offers a different feel for those looking for a softer feel without maintaining some of the classic Angell custom feel.

How would you compare the launch angle of tc 97 16x19 to k7?

Hello @galapagos I feel that the TC97 has a stiffer/crisper feel in the hoop than the K7. To me it comes down to personal preference of feel at impact. I am more of a feel at impact person than launch angle. I hope what I replied makes sense or is helpful.

As some people noticed K7 grip is thicker than TC series. I play with grip 2 and felt this even before applying an overgrip. Though I suspect this thicker grip could be actually more comfortable for me. Played a mixed doubles tournament yesterday completely with K7. Not even a single practice before that day. I think fresh string job was a bit boardy (Cyclone Tour 1.3 22/20.5 kg). But overall it was good. Im still in the process of perfecting my serve, but this day it was good as never (except the last match ). I stared second match against one of the strongest team with two consecutive aces into the center line ☄. Everything else was good too (taking into account my level). And yes, K7 looks brilliant!

I just received word from Paul that the upcoming stock will have rectified the grip size issue.
So it will be wise to order your preferred grip size.

To me, it feels like it has a lower launch angle than my old tc97 16x19. I played it with gut at 50lbs (when I bought I knew my 11yo would probably inherit it so I strung it lower). The control I had and the low launch angle even with gut at low tension makes this a very predictable frame to hit with and for me control was surprisingly good. Not as high as my TC97 18m, but much higher than a 16x19 with low tension should be. I’d be curious to try full bed poly with it.

Directional control is also very high. But this is not really a problem for me no matter what frame I play with as I would adjust rapidly to compensate. Hopefully someone more sensitive to this could chime in.

To sum it up, the K7 feels natural. It sends the ball where you point it at a launch angle that is very true. But I guess that depends where your coming from.
Can you comment on upper loop flex of K7 vs TC97 16x19?

Ultra Tour for example had much more stable/stiff upper loop compared to TC97, which I liked so much more for control on voleys/slice and even a bit on regular strokes.

OK, I've ordered one of these. A little concerned at the relatively light weight -- I use a DR98 -- but will give it a go.

Usually string a hybrid setup, gut mains @ 51, Lux rough crosses @ 48. 16ga both.

*Disclaimer: I am really not the best to comment on this, the way a frame flexes never bothered me. Some people are a lot more senstitive to that than I will ever be.

That said, the K7 feels like it has very even flex along the frame. It doesn't have the high stability of the Ultra Tour at the net, so the TW is probably lower. However, the string bed feels a lot more even than the UT. There is a hot spot in the UT that when you hit it, the ball goes boom! But outside you don't get the extra oomph.

Comparing with the TC97 16m is hard for me as I switched to the TC97 18m over a year ago and sold my 16m. But the launch angle is defintely lower and that's part of the reason why I sold my TC97s 16m. I didn't get the precision I wanted. With the K7 I can place the ball really well, launch angle is not high for a 16x19 and the even string bed allows to hit precisely.

That's as best as I can compare these frames. Hopefully, I might be playing against the guy I sold my Tc97s 16m to in the next couple days. If it happens, I will hit back to back and see if I can come up with more useful info for you.

Yes UT does have a flat shot hot-spot - supposedly at request of Monfils.

Flex in the upper loop is pretty noticeable on volleys and half volleys - the ball just seems to die if you land it there.

I’ve been using the tc97 16x19 for over 18 months, it’s funny when reviewing frames how some people’s reviews don’t tally up with my findings. I think the K7’s launch angle is higher than my 16x19 TC97!
K7 has a little less power too in it’s standard form, on plus side it plays softer and with more control.

Geoff, How would you compare the K7 to the C10 Pro with regards to flex, comfort and power?

I agree, I have hit with both TC97 16x19 (its my current stick) and the new K7, and I also felt the launch angle of K7 was higher.

I will be curious on your impression since you loved the TC100
I'm excited. My son is a Freshman in HS and is using the PS100. He hit with my TC100 the other night and he licked his chops. He was like dad, this is sick for volleys. I have a feeling the K7 will be perfect for him. But I'm sure I will dig it. The TC100 is the first stick I've used that's a 100. Usually use 98 or less.

So what are your strung specs on TC100? Do you know your SW by any chance? Just curious

I bought the 300/330 version of the TC100. I added a little weight in the butt cap and some lead tape and 3/9 and the racquet comes out at 11.49 oz. Its quite a bit lighter than the PS97's I used prior, but I'm digging the lightness of the frame. I haven't measured the SW, it seems like too much work and calculation, lol.

can you share your experience, thanks
Nice frame. Strung it with Yonex PTP 1.20 @ 51x48. I've had a few Angell frames now, and they're extremely high quality and very comfortable. I can never seem to love them enough to switch from the DR98, though. I liked the K7 better than the other Angells I have (95 310, 95 330, 97 310 all with the lower SA), and I liked it better than the Yonex SV98 which I thought was too stiff for my personal prefs.

I know this isn't a technical review -- launch angle, swingweight, etc.

This is a nice frame, it's spooky comfy, ton of power, but with the really open string pattern I'm launching the ball way too high. It came with leather grip, with OG it's at 332g, 8pt HL, 3g @ 12, 6g @ 7". Strung with quad twist poly at 50.

Can anyone recommend any modifications that will help lower the launch angle. Should I try 15g string, mains lower than cross, put the weight at 9/3, more static weight? I'm coming from a RF97 with gut/poly, but using 330 Vcore pro now. Any help would be appreciated.

- String crosses higher than mains
- Lead tape at 3 and 9
- Rounded/Smooth strings
- Thicker gauge

Will all decrease launch angle

If @topspn was here he'd probably explain that the open pattern is to enable spn generation.
I looked at the different posts and was not going to comment at all :p K7 is neither the most open pattern 16x19 or the tightest. For sure, it is on the open side. I found the launch angle extremely neutral and i have zero problem flattening out when that is what i want to do. I also have no problem on either side bringing the ball down and through the court. I am not an 18x20 guy and don’t need to be but I do like some 16x20 patterns. Anyway, thanks for thinking of me :D If some need a tighter pattern, by all means, you most certainly don’t need me to bless your decisions :)

Oh, so it's a denser 16x19 than TC95?

I cannot give you an exact answer since I didn’t have the TC95 at the same time to compare side by side. I’d say about the same as TC95 but tighter then TC100. Launch angle more tempered then both
