Friend of mine is stringing at the FO and he posted some pics on FB. Looks like there's a new Babolat machine in the room!
Says "Babolat 5" on the case but doesn't look anything like a Star 5. Either way, very exciting stuff!

The 5 is just the machine number.

As you can see in the photo they're using a mix of Sensors and modular stringing machines/Racket Stations.

The new machine has 3 possibilities for clamp base. Electromagnetic like the sensor expert, the kind the regular sensor has, and the kind the star 5 has. I'm guessing the racket stations they're using at the FO have the regular sensor kind of clamp base.

It's a nice approach... eliminating 2 product lines with a 1 modular, upgradeable product line. $6K for the "bare bones" entry model and up to $11K for a loaded one.
A small, lower volume shop could start with the entry version then upgrade as they grow/business picks up.

As for the inclusion of a USB interface.. Babolat Official gave a hint to some of the features but there are lots of interesting possibilities here.... Client database, Direct label/tag printing, store customized profiles for each stringer on a USB storage key (move from machine to machine at a tournament and not have to adjust height, pulling preference, string/tension setup for each of their clients, etc...)... etc

Of course, there are those who say "who needs all those fancy fancy features to string a tennis racquet"... But they're not stringing 4,000+ frames/year.

If you see pictures throughout the room all machines are numbered.

Wow this page hasn't been updated...
I will be posting unpacking photos and videos when we recieve our first machine from Babolat.
Hopefully will help those who are making a decision to upgrade. In The US right now there are limited combo you can purchase.
