New Balance 1006 or 1296?

I'm replacing a pair of 1296v2s. Anyone have experience with both the 1296s and the 1006? I liked the 1296s, but felt that the level of cushioning (especially in the forefoot) wasn't where I'd have liked it. I liked everything else about the shoes.

How about the 1006? They look like they'd have the ventilation I want (our courts hit 120+ degrees in the coming months) and may be a little more cushioned? Anyone know?

Is the heel flat or is it raised like the LAV?

It's raised a bit.

Right now I haven't been able to order the 1006, in my size, for about a month. Either Tennis Warehouse or Santa needs to come thru for Mr. Lob.

I'm tempted to stash an extra pair now that a certain retailer has the black 1006 in stock in my size.

Wish I had. Thought about doing so a few months ago. The 1006 fit my feet/arch perfectly. Light and supportive. Unfortunately no one (Tennis Warehouse/ Amazon/New Balance/ Tennis Shop) had either the white or black in my size.

I just ordered a pair of the 1006 on Amazon.
Tennis Warehouse must be lower on the pecking order of allocation as they still do not carry my size.

New Balance outlets are running a promo on these (1006 in white) if you have one near you... they are $89.99 each and it's buy one get one 50% off. The cashier also asks for your email to knock off another 10%. I got two pairs for $60.XX each plus tax. They are super comfortable but I think they are ugly so I am going to dye them to my liking :-D

The 1006 was a very difficult shoe to find there for awhile. Covid caused supply issues or something. I've got a new pair of white 1006 waiting for me when my current pair wear out. But, that's a great deal for 2 pair. I think there's a New Balance outlet not too far from me. Ugly? No way.

Thanks for the heads up.

Wooowwwww dude. Have I finally found my evil shoe twin?!?!?!

Wow, thought I had written down my shoe size somewhere here and you were messing with me. LOL

Absolutely a perfect fit at 11.5 4E. First 4E shoe I've ever worn. The 2E's a bit tight.

If you buy 2 pair, perhaps you'd be kind enough to send the 1/2 off pair to your evil shoe twin?

I think the 1006 is too hard right underneath the insole. But I still wear this shoe because I can't find my size in any other shoe. My size is 10.0 4E or 10.5 4E. I have to buy aftermarket insoles to provide the cushion I need. I buy mine on ****.

I live in Canada dude so I am supposed to be the one asking you, not the other way around :(

There are no NB outlets here

I buy mine on the The Bay, largest auction site.

Sorry Canadian dude. Looks like that outlet mall near me only has a Nike Outlet....no N.B.
what has your experience been with sizing up to 12 in standard width shoes been likem I know you must have done this before "discovering" the 4E options like me. Any good ones in 12?

A bit more room in the box. Don't think a standard D width would work with sizing up. My first pair of 1006 was 11.5 in 2E that I bought from a tennis shop. Felt good trying them on, but after wearing for awhile felt a bit tight, they were rubbing a bit too much against my pinkie toe. Went up to 4E. Been buying the 4E ever since. Buy a new pair every 6-8 months.

So what about before the 1006 tho?

Before the 1006 I wore the NB 806. After wearing Nikes for forever, I was like, wow, these are comfortable and supportive, where have you been all my life! I can't recall the specifics of fit and what I tried on. At that time I was wearing an 11. Maybe a regular, cant remember. Hard to say as I may have lost a bit of arch in my foot. But 806 a great shoe, 1006 better for my feet and tennis.

I dyed my two new pairs today, I like them better than the original white. The process kinda made the "revlite" area messy though probably due to the hot water and the way the text is pasted on. I used RIT dye and the hot water method. I dipped each pair in a lighter and darker shade of blue and then dipped both in the black dye to darken them a bit.

This reminds me of the stereotypical talented brooding painter noticing a small imperfection in what is otherwise a masterpiece and furiously ripping up the canvas before muttering out "lukes like sheet!" in a heavy french accent

The paint job looks amazing dude. I may do this with a red/white scheme. While humility is a virtue I truly believe your creation calls for pride

I can't be certain but I think this happened to me now. Just went to an NB store (not outlet!) and the 1006 4E felt better in size 12 than it did in 11.5. I do not recall it being like this when I first tried these over 5 years ago and distinctly remember that the 11.5 felt 'perfect'. I can not believe this (the change of shoe size) is actually a thing! Difficult to believe! Not twins anymore :( but now we do not compete for the same supply :)
