Came across this new shoe from New Balance that looks like it has the same midsole and outsole as the Lav V2, but the uppers have a different toe guard, tongue/lacing system, and heel counter

Yeah not in a good way. As in these shoes, cargo shorts, high white socks, a button down short sleeve shirt, a fanny pack, clip on sunglasses, and a wide brim straw titelist golf hat.

Pros are particular so it will be interesting.
From a rec player standpoint, the Rally really is just a refinement of the Lav formula as opposed to anything dramatically different.

Still waiting for something like the v1 to return... have tried so many different shoes since and nothing comes close. Most similar I've worn since are the Adidas Cybersonic...

Move along then. I really like what NB does concerning tech and cushioning. I think most other shoe makers are getting lazy/relying on branding. I am very excited to try this shoe and am prepared to also be let down... but I enter this test with a positive outlook!
dad sneakers are a fashion trend atm so they know what they're doing

I don’t understand the “old man” or “dad” comments on the New Balance shoes. While some of their shoes don’t (for me) pass my comfort screen, they generally are supportive, and accommodate orthotics, and come in widths and size 12 1/2. I’ve tried on a number of other brands and IMO, with their hard plastic flanges and overly stiff heel counters, they provide an annuity stream to podiatrists and orthopedists.

I might get them because I think they will be a performance improvement on the Lav 2, but they aren't good looking. A chance they might look better in real life though.
