New Balance Fresh Foam X CT-Rally

Does that not have the stitching around the "N"? If not, liking it more already! They could make some fun colors with it. I own a pair and enjoy the cushioning, support and quality but would like more color patterns.
That is the best problem to have. You like the shoe just not the colors available.

Seems like the CT Rally version of this colorway:

They are all over Europe in a clay outsole. We will see if we get it in the US as HC outsole

I have not seen this colour at all in any European shops, either with a hard court or clay outsole. The clay outsole colourway that's out in Europe atm is lime green.

I haven't been able to find any with clay soles yet. Don't they have a classic herringbone?
They never released a Lav 2 with a clay outsole for sale to the public, even in Europe. So it might be the same with the CT Rally.

You can find a clay outsole 996 v5 for sale now in several European online retailers however. It's a classic herringbone pattern, yes.

New Balance is a bit confusing. The german websites shows this shoe or sole and says: "Outsole material specially developed for clay courts"

Picked up a pair on sale to try. Initial thoughts are that they are not as plush as I thought they would be, and they also run really hot for me, not very breathable compared to the Lacoste LG LT 23s. Playability is similar, think I find the LGLT23s a bit more responsive overall for my all court game.

I would hope so... it is a shoe designed to be more responsive!

I like the look of those Lacoste, and the reviews have been really encouraging. However, it kills me to see the normalization of $160 tennis shoes!

Are there fake versions of this model around? Only place I can find one in my size in my region is on da bay but there are a few things that don't seem right about the listing.

I have indeed seen fake versions of 996v5 around. Not sure about this model tho.

The last two versions (Dune and USA) were not something I could wear, so I had to order the boring white ones, which will make me look 90 years old.

Bought a pair of the slate gray. I find them to be very plush and they give me a bit of relief with my back pain. I also prefer having an old fashioned tongue vs the bootie sock thing which helps a little with the ankle brace. I like.

What are the most significant (if any) changes to these, coming from the 2nd generation of the LAVs?
I have little to no experience with the Lav2.

The obvious main difference is they sell these now lol.

This has a heel lock like very few shoes have these days. With generous forefoot width. Kind of like ASICS GR4 and that era. A good figure 8 feeling foot shape that locks you in the back and lets you move a bit in the front.

Adequately comfy, well priced, 6 month warranty, good colors

I have a pair of the fresh foam x more trail shoes that are like walking in clouds. Decided to try these bc they have the fresh foam. Not as much cushion as my GPTs. Disappointed bc I really love the trail shoes.

Bought a pair of these this summer. My first non-adidas/nike pair in 15 years. These might be the best tennis shoes I’ve had. Just a really great balance of comfort/support/weight.
Only tennis shoes I've been wearing/buying for the last 4+ years. A few CoCo CG1s mixed in, but mostly these, from the OG lav's to current gen.

I thought these were a huge mistake 1st time out. Stiff and uncomfortable all around. But after that 1st hitting session, man what a shoe! The uppers are just so glove like and the fresh foam has really hit its stride! Just give me more nice colors and I'll keep on buying 'em.

New Balance tennis is famous for churning out bad and weird colorways.
I really loved the original Lav V1 and once had 7 pairs. The only reason that I did not buy even more was that their colorways were bad. And seeing the color blocking of CT Rally (Lav V3 indeed), it seems it is not going anywhere better
