New Balance Fresh Foam X CT-Rally

New Balance tennis is famous for churning out bad and weird colorways.
I really loved the original Lav V1 and once had 7 pairs. The only reason that I did not buy even more was that their colorways were bad. And seeing the color blocking of CT Rally (Lav V3 indeed), it seems it is not going anywhere better
Couldn't agree more. I found a pair of the "tan" and they look way better in person. But the others in the store--ugh!! Wish I would have snagged a USA Olympic colorway.

would that mean there is still another colorway in the current generation that has yet to be released? That is crazy
Is it not weird that they don't release new models at the start of the year? I feel like that's awkward timing, but I don't know anything about marketing or if there's something to do with their fiscal year, etc.

new models are usually released at the start of the year or near USO. Very reasonable for New Balance to release their new models around USO considering their shoes are now mainly being marketed only in the US market. TW Europe has not carried their shoes for a few years.

Thanks for the info... that makes sense.

Seeing they are sold out almost on any online channel, i am hoping that they will launch a very version (or atleast colorway) somewhere in January for the start of the Grand Slam season.

I just bought a pair at my regular size since they're supposed to fit TTS (first time wearing NB) and while I have sufficient room in the toe box, the shoes fit very snugly around the tongue after my session with them. It was almost painful. Has anybody else experienced this? I'm wondering if they'll break in and get better with time.

Mine was comfortable out of the box, no break in needed. Every shoe fit different feet types, watch FDZ videos before you buy.

Is there a difference between the CT-Rally and CT-Rally V1? Both are listed on the NB site. I tried the white and blue ones (CT-Rally) in store and they were good so I bought the black ones (CT-Rally V1) on sale from the site and those were uncomfortably stiff. Had to return them. The white pair I tried on looked brand new so I don't think they were partially worn in from people testing in-store.

I assume they're the same. v1 or not, it's the first iteration of the CT-Rally (which is a Lav 2 replacement).

i asked the same question to an assistant at the NB website awhile back. this is what they told me.

"The V1s do not have a toe guard while the originals do!"

i didn't confirm the toe guard because they look the same to me from the outside.

NB are playtesting the CT-Rally V2 at the moment as well. Si they might have added that distinction to make it more obvious a new one has come out when it does
This makes sense. The current version is the first, and calling it v1 implies that there will be a v2.

Any idea how v2 will be different?

No. I was not quick enough to get on the playtest. Hopefully they dont change the shape too much

Anyone tried/own both the standard and 2e version and can comment on just how much difference there is in width?

I am visiting the US and have both versions arriving Thurs, will report back! I currently use the D width as they are all that's available in the UK - love them but occasionally get some pain in the mid foot

What were the biggest changes which lead you up say this?
While Lav V1 has one of the best cushioning I ever have in a pair of tennis shoes, V2's cushioning is around half (or even less than that) of that. Further, the shoes feel stiff as hell which I do not know why. I am not a shoe expert like you though.
