New Balance Lav V2

Well the pics from that article make it appear that they have removed the rubber from the area on the original Lav that was right above the big toe knuckle that caused me so much pain and damaged my feet. For some foot types, that would be a big plus

Finally releasing! One of the most comfortable shoes out there when I tested it, can’t wait to cop a pair. Does anyone know if there is a 6 month warranty?

V1 was cleaner

I think that’s mostly because the new NB logo is way too big and looks kind of weird. V2 could look decent in the right colours, a black red setup could work for a chunky shoe like this

''slightly firmer cushioning, giving a lighter overall weight with a higher energy return''It looks more sporty than plush to me....

Knew it was coming thanks to other TT board members but I am glad to see the return of a substantial heel/ankle collar. That lack of one was my primary knock on the first version.

Looks better than I thought it would. Giant "N" still ugly though other colors may hide it better. Not liking the lack of bootie and firmer feel. I like the plush of the V1 for my knees!

I agree. I can’t see a major issue with that. It’s pretty simple branding. It looks like the N on the instep has been made smaller too, based on early Raonic photos.

Is it just me or is that just the same shoe with different logo placement?
There really aren't any technical updates to the 996v4.5. There's some visual changes to the logo, etc and NB notes the usage of Dope dying for the upper as part of sustainability practices. Otherwise, same shoe.
The major thing I see besides the logo is the pattern of the knit. That really can have an effect on the shoe. We will have to see if it did

I've put the 4.5 on at my buddy's shop. Didn't feel any different from the v4 I'd worn before to me. But it's also been awhile since I used them so anything's possible.

It's an awesome shoe. This new Lav 2 is the third most comfortable shoe on the market IMO behind the Babolat SFX 3s (which don't have the same level of support as the Lav 2s) and the Nike GP Turbos.

I loved the Lav 1s in every way except for the lacing of the bootie closure. The design of these updates gives MUCH better lockdown than the original LAVs while retaining the comfort.

To me, this is exactly what an update should do..... keep everything that was great about the first version of the shoe, and fix any areas that weren't perfect first time around.

Daniel Collins is a fine ambassador for this release, but still so shocked that NB marketing isn't leading with Rao who is the namesake of the shoe.

The blues are nice. Unfortunately they still don’t seem to be selling them here in the UK. It’s pushed me to buy my second pair of Uber 4s!

The scarcity of Lavs has forced me to switch to the 996 and I have to say I love them, just ordered the 996 V4.5, they last much better than the Lavs.

So what was the conclusion? V1 = softer but heavier

V2 = stiffer, lighter, more stable somehow?

Ok switched back to the Lav's from the 996, and I have to say these Lav 2's are my favorite shoes ever !! The outsole is much better that the Lav 1's and the non-booty tongue is a lot easier to fit into if you're wearing a brace, great shoe !

Agree totally. This Lav 2 is an upgrade on the first shoe (which I also oiked a lot).

It feels like everything that wasnt quite perfect on the first release got corrected here.

I prefer the fit now that the standard upper with a tongue is being used jbstead of a bootie upper and the beefed up heel counter is probably the single biggest issue corrected from the Lav 1.

Just an absolutely great shoe imo.

These are impossible to find in 2E now :(

were the uppers of the LAV stretchier or stiffer than the sfx? how was the toebox width compared to the SFX in the same size (assuming you did not get 2E in LAVs)

Thank you

Thank you

The Lav2 uppers are firmer than the SFX3's (more lateral stability) but still very, very comfortable. More toebox "room" if not width in the SFX 3s as there is a very soft mesh section behind the toeguard that does stretch.

Can you compare the toebox width AND overall length to any of these (of the same size)?

SoleCourt Boost
Court FF1
Gel Resolution 8
BluShield 5
BluShield Fly 3
AG-LT21
Vapor NXT
Cage 4
Vapor X
GP Turbo
UltraShot 2
Eclipsion 2

And any heel slippage (upwards or sideways)?

Lastly, did you use 2E or standard width?

Thanks a lot
Only tried the Asics (in wide) and found the fit to be similar in the toebox, but I preferred the Lav2 overall (EE)

Yes, same size, didn't notice any difference. Some other NB models have run short in the past, not an issue with the LAV2.
Thank you. Going to snipe them when they become available again.

I literally wore 12 for every shoe I listed above but went with 11.5 for the GR8 in 2E (also tried the SFX3 from babolat in 11.5 too). I assume I can go down to 11.5 for the LAVs, based on what you say here.
