New Balance Warranty Fine Print--What a scam!

Ok so i just found out that the NB durability guarentee has some fine print that says on the bottom that says it is only limited to one replacement per "customer", meaning that if i already have 1 replacement pair, it doesnt mater if i buy new shoes, i cannot send them in again.

Did you guys know about this? isnt this a pretty dumb marketing move, becuase it effectively shuts out long time customers?

i would think its 1 replacement for that shoe model.

before you jump to conclusions, call them and get the full story

Believe the replacement pair will not be under warrantee. By the time you wear them out, buy another, then need a replacement, NB will change that model 3 times. Still a great warrantee

So what you're saying is, you should be able to buy a shoe, send it in for replacement, send in the replacement, and so on and so forth forever? On top of that you're calling NB scam artists? Nice going there...

Do you mean you only get one replacment in your life or just for a particular model of NB shoes? BTW, NB is in the business of selling shoes not maintaining a continuous cycle of warranty replacments.

He's not saying he expects multiple free replacements from the first NB shoes he paid for.

He's saying he bought the first pair, got a free replacement second pair, wears this one out, then goes out and BUYS a third pair. But he won't get a free replacement from this third pair he BOUGHT anymore, because NB has already "black listed" him out.

So it's one replacement per customer in his life time. Not one replacement per pair of shoes bought. So if he buys 10 pairs of shoes, he won't get replacement for the last 9 pairs

My understanding of the NB warranty is also that it's limited to one replacement pair per customer per LIFETIME. That's why there's no time limit on the warranty. You can send them in whenever you like because they are only going to give you one replacement during your lifetime. So you can buy the shoes and send them in 20 years later and they will still replace it but don't ever send in another pair of NB shoes again before you die because they will not replace another shoe for you. Anyway, that's my understanding of the warranty, but of course, I could be wrong.

Just buy your shoes with cash and then find a friend to send in the other pair if you want another replacement.

It might be dishonest, but it would probably work.

Yeah, as long as it's a different name and different mailing address it would work. But who would bother to keep doing this? People would just buy different brands altogether that don't have this limitation.

I like New Balance shoes, but I find some of their models are just duds. Recently, I have had some soles simply peel off the shoe after a few days of wear (1002s). I talked to customer support, and they tell me the problem is due to: 1) new glues that are more eco friendly; and 2) style preferences for a sleeker shoe to stop to the sole low, rather than wrapping up the shoe, like older models.

I have never sent shoes back - never seemed worth my time, but I get different NEW model (1003) and get similar problems where the sole detaches from the rest of the shoe. Now, I really want to send back both pairs because I am out a lot of cash and the shoe lines as a whole obviously have a defect.

Never, ever sent another NB shoe in for replacement after the 1st pair was replaced. May try it to refute this policy but never wear-thru the soles before the cushioning is gone.

Never heard of anyone having the toe problem with the cheaper 650-series w/wraparound soles

thats garbage, i've had 3 pairs of New Balance tennis shoes replaced. The 1002, 780, and another 1002 pair. No trouble at all.

El Guapo-what do you have against New Balance? I think they make excellent shoes and the 803's are clearly the best value for a tennis shoe on the market today. Perhaps you work for one of the competitors?

Try reading the thread. If Nike or Adidas had a garbage warranty like that, you'd be calling them out. Stop gorfing NB already.

Yes, that's what they told me too (they said I can never submit another pair of New Balance for warranty replacement).

Um, how many people love Nikes and have no problem getting two pairs for the price of one because of their incredibly warranty? Just because you play enough to wear them out in 6 months (incredibly easy to do if playing regularly), doesn't mean that the shoes are bad.

Not sure what your point is - I'm guessing it's that Nike's warranty is better than NB's, because you can two-for-one for the rest of your life.

If so, that's a reasonable opinion.

I don't wear Nikes - I wear NBs, because I have narrow feet - but I take it from your post that the Nike outsole warranty is 6 months. If you can wear 'em out in 6 months, you can get two-for-ones forever. I'd agree that that's a good warranty. If you can wear 'em out in 7 months, I'd say it's worthless.

My understanding of the NB warranty is if you are unsatisfied - at any time - with the durability of the outsole, you can get a new pair. Since your satisfaction is (obviously) subjective, the NB warranty theoretically can be "cashed in" by anybody who buys a pair. On the other hand, the Nike warranty can't be cashed in unless you can burn 'em in under 6 months - which you say isn't hard, but I'd guess only applies to a tiny fraction of Nike's customers.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that there's a higher markup on Nike shoes as well, making the two-for-one a more palatable business deal for them than it would be for NB.

Still, if the Nike warranty works better for you, great. I'm not sure that that quite proves that the NB warranty is a scam, as the OP suggests.

Um, so free replacements for life from Adidas, Nike and other reputable shoe companies (most are 6-month warranties but some are 7) or only one replacement for your entire life from NB? Hmmm.

Nikes are better for narrow feet than NB anyway, unless your feet are flat.
