I have a new ball machine but no balls
What are your recommendations?
Are these Tretorn micro x balls worth the money?
Easy Answer: Yes
When I first bought my Silent Partner Star machine I also bought about 110 Tretorn micro-x balls for over $150. They are a bit harder feeling than regular balls and they will still bounce even after most of their fuzz is long gone. That took about two years for me.
However as cheap as using micro-x balls are versus using new regular balls I still didn't want to fork over another $150+ dollars so I figured out and built a way to repressurize old regular balls and that has worked much better and cheaper, essentially zero ongoing cost since I just pick up and use old balls left on courts.
I have been tinkering with re-pressurizing balls but not able to get it up to par. I bought a pressure cooker from wal mart and have attached a bicycle tube valve stem and pressure gauge but I'm having trouble getting it to hold pressure. Beernutz mind sharing how you got it done?
I a) thrown in the balls after use in 'live fire' - hitting with people; b) go to the local sporting goods store when they have the bags of Penn or Wilson practice balls on sale.
You might want to ask some of your friends if you can have their balls. Explain your plight.
Search for Cornelius keg in this forum. I'm not the only one who has used this method and there are several old threads describing how its done.
