"Countervail will begin arriving at retail in November in a Blade for $219. The new Burn will land in January 2017 as will Serena’s Blade SW 104 Autograph. It will retail for $249."

Am I the only one thinking that using the Pro Staff design in the Blade line too is nonsense?
I mean, they look cool, but this way the whole thing about the RF97A codesigned with Federer lose any sense.
If it is designed with Federer then that design should be used only for the Pro Staff line.
It should have been unique, now it's not...

not sure about the cosmetics for the new blades, i like the looks of the old 2015 green and black blades better.
i guess they are suppose to have the countervail technology that dampens vibration even more
unless the new ones play significantly differently than my current sticks, i will stay with what i have
blade 98 16x19s
i am also using the prostaff 97s, and they seem to have a little more power than my blades, but
i cant get the feel i get with the blades. using the same strings, almost the same tension

They've always used the pro staff PJ albeit in Blade colors and usually a cycle behind. The most recent blades are a great example of that.

Not sure how this paintjob is supposed to be better than the last two. It's not.
Don't you think the beam on the one with the Raonic picture looks thicker, like 22mm and above? That would be a freaking shame.

Not a fan of the paint job or previous ones either really but would be genuinely interested of the technology makes them more arm friendly.

What was the reference to shared holes?

I do like the PJ (congrats, Peter) and the fact they're using the same design across the lines by changing the accent color. Kinda what Prince did with textremes. Very stylish and minimalistic.

The Pro Staff RF97 was the first racquet we designed as part of the next generation of designs. It was designed with Roger (closely) and that design then inspired the design of the other racquets as we loved the result and felt it was a strong design to carry through. So even though Roger worked mainly directly on the RF97 (and other Pro Staffs) his design choices trickled down to other racquets and in fact we reviewed designs for Blades, etc with him at meetings.

I still can't fathom how people pay that much money for one racquet. I like the 2015 pj more than this, but if it plays similar and the mold doesn't change like with the last racquets I used, I might pick one up when it drops in price.

I doubt the price will drop. Wilson strategically priced the new racquet significantly higher than the old one, so the old racquet is at a relative discount (despite not being on a real discounted price) compared to the new one.

Umm, I think Doubles is referring to the new Blade -> he intends to buy that one when it gets discounted, i.e., when its successor comes out...

They are trying to push past that $199 marker but not sure if that is going to be possible. The FST 95 was at $249 but not many takers. Only the RF 97A can comand a premium.

I note from the linked article that the new blade has the same handle as the burn fst.. ie with the ergo inserts. will be an interesting proposition... and I actually think having a common paint scheme with different colours for the' type' of racket is no bad think.. as long as players don't go for a stick based on cosmetics alone :D:p . Its interesting that the updates seem to be coming thick and fast now.

@PeterFig have you hit with any of the new blades and their countervail layup technology?

Really curious to hear how you feel countervail in the blades effects their feel/stability/comfort-level. I have always craved the silky feel of the K-Factor and nCode blade lines. Since then, I feel like Wilson has generally stiffened the layups of the BLX, BLX 2012, and latest variants of the blade.

I have BUT I had very little experience with past Blade models so I really don't have much reference point to compare them to. They felt solid. Mostly hit with the 16x19. Sorry I could not be of more help.

@PeterFig could you please let us know which mold the 16x19 98" is? Looks similar to nblade mold which I think is different than the current blade mold. That would be heavenly. Thanks!
