Earth's Mightiest Warrior has finally bowed out succumbing to his injures, and a new undisputed heavyweight champion of the world will be crowned next week.

With it, we will have a new RG champion, the first since 2016, 8 years ago.

The tournament to crown a new clay champion continues.

Alcaraz, Sinner, Tsitsipas, Zverev, Ruud. DeMinaur - One of these elite fighters will be the brand new RG champion.

It feels like a new era has finally dawned. I picked Alcaraz to win it over Djokovic, but with how this tournament has been, it really is wide open. Can Zverev finally break through? Can Ruud make three times a charm? Or will the Human Wrecking Machine Sinner go all the way to win his first two slams back to back?

Next time on Dragon Ball Z.

This changes everything.

I've been rooting against Djokodal for years bc tennis so desperately needs new blood. And that affects who I root for. I'm always rooting for the best player, because only 1-2 guys can beat Djokodal in a Final at any given time.

But now, don't have to worry that the guy I'm backing will poop his pants when he sees Djokodal in SF/F.

I feel like Neo and Trinity when they briefly broke through the clouds. Djokodal will be back soon enough to plunge us back into zombie B2 drudgery

Zverev is at his best at USOpen. But RG also he is good. So his chances are still there.

Best chance for Ruud to win a slam tbh.
He does quite well at the US Open, but he's made it to the French semifinals the last 3 years, keeping it close with Nadal in 22 and even during recovery in 23. He doesn't have to worry about Djokovic now and has shown himself more than capable of beating Alcaraz in slams.

Alcaraz/sinner battles for supremacy. I do want to see Zverev win a slam though and meddy get another. Hopefully Rune csn keep improving. Ruud is a solid clay player and has his chances too.

I think if Tsitsipas gets past Alcaraz somehow, he will really like his chances for the title, considering how he matches up against Sinner, Zverev and Ruud.
Would be fantastic for Tsitsipas to find his 2021 clay season/RG form, think that was the best he's been at RG.

Tsitsipas is flying under the radar. Like Zverev it would be sweet for him if he won one after a few close attempts. I don’t think he beats alcaraz but who knows.

Lets see how Alcaraz responds, because mentally he will be shaken a bit that Djokovic is not going to be in the final.
I would think he'd be ecstatic not having to play Novak in the final, especially a slam final where he's reigned supreme for years.

I don't predict, but I do think about in my own mind who I think might win. I believe any player who is playing a lot of five-set matches is a long shot for obvious reasons. So picking either Carlos or Sinner seems to be logical. But let's see what happens next.

If Zverev does another 5 setter or tough 4 setter then he will be toast for the final like Medvedev was in the AO.

Yeah it will be nice to see someone new finally win something. I might throw something on the grill :D

Still pretty sad that the young players weren't able to take the throne away from the GOATs but had to rely on attrition from injury instead.

Injuries are what gets almost everyone in the end, Djokodal are old enough that injuries and old age are pretty much the same thing

Now that Nadal and Djokovic seem to be finally out of the picture will the RG title revert to being the revolving door it once was prior to 2005 (when Nadal first made his presence felt)?

Lol...you got in too fast before I deleted that post. But will be interested to hear what you think in what I said afterwards.

I think we will see a few players that will win it multiple times. I can see Raz having a run at RG.

Sinner based on form but Carlos is said to be better on clay than Sinner ? Predict from these 2 ?

It is a hard match to predict and those are usually the ones that turn out to be great matches. We will just have to watch and see what ending happens. Might be a few points that decide the outcome at the tail end of sets.

I think we can officially say it's over in June 2024.

June 2024. Federer retired 2 years ago (and has been non-relevant since early 2020). Nadal is semi-retired and non-relevant since mid 2022. Djokovic is 37 and has literally nothing else to prove after breaking all the records last year with his level clearly dropping this year. That's what it took.

I think Alcaraz-Sinner will give tennis a new pulse at least, it would be fun if 1-2 new great players emerged in the next 1-2 years.

That’s a problem for the future. The GOATS weren’t pushed out of the game by younger players (like every other era the past 100 plus years) . Injuries did it. Basically they rolled out of the game on their own on wheelchairs. They weren’t pushed out the door

Wow. Let's see if I got this right for new blood for each slam:

AO: Sinner 2024
FO: Sinner/Alcaraz, Ruud/Zverev/de Minaur 2024
WI: Alcaraz 2023
USO: Alcaraz 2022

Only due to Djokovic's withdrawal. It says much that this so-called "new blood" had no guarantee of winning the 2024 French Open while Djokovic was actively in the event.

I picked Alcaraz 6 months ago, so sticking with him as i think its day matches from here on. If Zverev wins the whole thing, i have to say that Nadal will be back next season almost certainly and he will take huge confidence., so with my Nadal hat on id love Zverev to win it, also i like Zverev anyway, but the truth is i havea feeling we see Alcaraz go into overdrive now and win the event losing only maybe 2 more sets. Just my gut feeling. Not sure this was anything but an Alcaraz win, which you and me have been saying for a while now.

I think Djokovic would have relished facing Zverev, to beat the guy who beat Nadal i think would have meant a lot, and i do think if he had Sinner in the final we would have seen Djokovic avenge Australia in absolute roll back the years fashion.
However i feel Alcaraz would have given Novak a bit of a beat down because he has a lot of different options on clay compared to the more predictable Sinner. So if Alcaraz wins it i will feel it was always on the cards, anyone else and i agree with your point.
