New Donnay Racquets Listed on TW

What do you guys think of the Donnay frames listed on the TW homepage now? Very nice specs for a reasonable price. Is anyone here ordering one? I thought I remember users here mentioning the newer Donnay stuff was not up to par quality/finish wise? I would think for TW to get involved and make a push they would have to be up to par.

The 95" looks good to me, except for the 16x18. I'd prefer 16x20 for a long 95 head like that. Nice stick, though.

Anyhow, is the trend going towards more flexy rackets?
 
Is it normal for a company to use different materials to create two different sizes of the same model?

The mid is graphite with 25% fiberglass, whereas the oversize is 100% graphite.
 
I still have my old Donnay Pro One Oversize, and it's still a great stick. Does anyone know where the new Donnays are being produced?

I still use my Donnay Pro One SM (green and grey version, I dont konw if its exactly the same racquet they sell from TW) and its a greatest frame I found (and I have tried alot like Volkl $ Fischer). Great control and feeling, real all court players will enjoy with that ! It's a classic donnay racquet.

Perhaps since these frames are listed as 'TW Exclusives', they are the product of the thread from a while ago now located further down the page created by the TW Staff querying the forum about what specs they would like to see in a racquet.
 
Yea NBMJ that is what it's looking like. They must have been working with Donnay at the time to pan out the final specs. At first I thought it was just re-release racquets of the old specs but then after further reading I realized they changed them a bit.
 
Nice paint on the OS. The MP looks like Volkl T10 GenII redux. Love to have a swing with that.

The Pro One mp paint job came out in 1994. About ten years before Volkl did the Tour 10 GenII.

The same box beam (19mm) bit without the cap grommets and dense pattern...

By the way TW, you had to do this to me, introduce a sweet racket a month after I splurged on a k factor...

The think beam alone is tempting...compared to the 22 mm beam of the k95
 
Here's my take:

Looking closely at the shape of the 95, combined with the specs ... this is one hell of an "ultimate" racket. I dare say.

The elongated head shape will make serving easy and precise. The racket mass + the open pattern will give that "omph" to counter the low flex. The 6 pts HL may seem a bit head-heavy, but, for "the-very-serious players", we use leather.

Buy the racket one grip size smaller. Slap a leather on the synthetic grip, add another overgrip to that, and you'll have a around 10 pts HL stick that will be around 370 grams with a SW of around 330+ from the added mass.

A near 370 gram, close to 10 pts HL, 330+ SW, 58 flex, box beam ... that's almost my Dunlop Revelation Tour 90! But this time it's open pattern in a 95 head!

String it up at 60 with a 17 gauge and you have a perfect control & spin monster that will suit the all-court player who's not afraid of the weight.

That's my take. I'm going to get one (or two) for sure.

I know I'd end up slapping on some leather as well + 1 over grip and leave it at that. This frame is very close to what I've been looking for a while..a flexy spin monster.
 
I guess my only complaint is that it doesn't come in 18x20 because I'd be absolutely thrilled if it did. I break strings way too quickly in a 16 main racquet (and I can't use poly due to my arm issues).

Nevertheless, I'm tempted to put down for 2 or 3 of these - unless TW can somehow get Donnay to make an 18x20.

[Either way, I'm really impressed that TW managed to discuss specs with a company and get the frames produced]
 
I am also impressed that TW was able to resurrect a great brand like Donnay and resurrect Donnay's last good racquets.

Back in 1996 I bought the Pro One International because I wanted a flexible frame to alleviate my tennis elbow. The length of the original one was 26 1/2 inches. It was a half inch short from standard length. Other than that the frame played well and is great for feel and touch.

I thought the paint on the new MP was lifted off an older Donnay (supermid something?) with a different spec? If the conjecture is right, then the specs on the new MP was developed between Donnay and TW/TT, so they would differ from the older Donnay?

I wouldn't know anyways, I wasn't playing when Donnay was in the US market.
 
I still have such a pro one TW listed, i've played for many years, then the International and eventually the pro one kevlar. All great rackets and a nice collector's item.

note that these rackets come with interchangeble bumpers.

ps: i would say these rackets are more for one-handers, the lenght of the handle is very short.

Its similar to the beam of a prestige or a dunlop in the throat...it actually looks similar to the dunlop m-fil 200 2006 in its beam shape...

I am just trying to dtermine if there is any shared lineage between the rackets mentioned
 
from the specs looks like a good frame...16x19 would seem to be a bit better fit here though.

Are you going to have a limited supply of the Donnay sticks, or will you be able to stock the racket for more than...say 6 months?

I dont make money until my assistanship starts in the fall :)

We noticed that, too and had these made with a longer handle.

Yes, these are the racquets resulting from our previous post in this forum. The feedback we got from you guys was very influential in the final design and spec of the Pro One International. If you were involved in that thread, you may now add "racquet designer" to your resume.

The Pro One Oversize is very similar to original spec, with just a tad more gap in the string spacing and the addition of a bumper. We used an actual "Agassi" Donnay Pro One OS racquet that came in a shipment of vintage racquets to finalize the spec and design of the Pro One OS. (BTW, it appears Andre may have also experimented with a midplus version as there was one of those included in the shipment and it has some miles on it).

Both racquets have been custom made for us so we were able to work closely with the development of the sticks and looked and hit with several versions before they were finalized.

We will have demos available in both headsizes soon.

For orders of two or more racquets, we have lowered the price to $89.99 per racquet. We feel that as these are player's sticks, most advanced players will want more than one. It's nice to be able to offer players a good deal on some great player's racquets and to make it very affordable to have enough sticks in the bag for tournament play.

LMK if you have any other questions. This has been a fun and exciting project for us and we hope you enjoy the racquets.

I just had a better look at the pro one listed on TW, what i don't understand is why they call it the pro one international?? it's actually the LIMITED edition!!! but on the inside of the frame the one listed on TW says "International" while mine says Supermidsize, very strange.

TW can you shed some light here :confused: ??

Then please consider releasing the MP version in the Orange/Grey paintjob!
Much more iconic than the International PJ.
