New Dunlop Aerogel 4D 100, 200 Tour, 600, 700, and The Legend at Thailand Open 2009

Just came back from the first main draw night at Thailand Open 2009. Dunlop came up with a lot of new racquets. It's quite strange that most of them come strung.

The first one is Aerogel 4D 100. I don't remember the strung weight, but it's pretty heavy.

The second one is Aerogel 4D 200 Tour. This is also a heavy racquet (350g strung), but the string pattern is quite open.

AG200T has even balance, but it feels a bit head-heavy for me.

I am not sure if you guys have seen this one before. It is called "The Legend". Part of frame cosmetic is decorated with 18k gold, Swarovski crystal. They said Dunlop produced this model with limited supply. There are only 100 racquets in Asia, and only 2 in Thailand. The price is around $1000, interested?

Dunlop Aerogel 4D 600 with AeroBridge. I don't know the spec, but the cosmetic looks really nice.

Wow. Many thanks for the photos and information. :)

Can you possibly get the specs off the frames next time you're there?

And can you please ask the Dunlop reps for the swingweights of the 4D 100 and 4D 200 Tour?

Damm! Is The legend made for human!

It's look like PD mold. Only one string for this stick which came in my mind is "Klip Legend":)

According to USRSA numbers, the 4D 100 is even lower powered and has a lower sw than the AG100.

Wow, so the 4D100's SW is even lower than 312? That's not good... although the cosmetics are sick.

For the 4D 200 Tour, being 350g strung and having a balance like that, I imagine which club player will be able to play that:p

Thanks for these pics, they're beauties.

I bet some US college sports fans buy the 600 (Oklahoma State and Oregon State) and 700's (North Carolina) just because of the color schemes! :)

Wow, yes, lower powered all right. It'll be very interesting to hit with the two side-by-side.

I think you're spot on. If you removed the plastic wrap and vibration dampener the balance will shift even more towards the head. Add a poly string and it'd move a bit more in that direction.

Excellent photos, again. Many thanks.

330mm = 4 pts HL. Looks like the 200 Tour's sw will be well above 330.

Hmm, a leather grip will add approx. 8 grams. Anyone know how much more HL it will make the racquet?

suppawat,

Thanks for the pics n previews! Love the cosmetics of the frames but it's sad that the 200T is a 16x18.

With that sw, balance it's going to be a string buster! Wished they stuck with a 16x19 or 18x20 :(

What's difference from Aerogel 100?
Looks almost same.
Did Dunlop happen to change the interval of string spacing?

Anyone know if the grommet for the AG100 4D will fit the AG100?

I want to know if I should start hoarding them now.

I had a problem with when the MFil 200 16x19 grommet got discontinued

I can't say for sure, but I would guess the grommets will fit because, the 4D version is different only in its materials and layup imo. From the OP's pics on page 1... the string spacing certainly looks exactly the same to me.

Thank you very much, Shangri La.

Could you possibly post the numbers for the AG600 4D? The non 4D version is on my list to demo and wonder if I like it, I may end up waiting for the 4D version.

Yeah, I know it's a tweener stick, but what can I say. I'm a tweener.

I went to the Thailand Open today for the semi's and took a look at the 4D-100.

IMO, in the hand and tried a few swings, it feels better than the AG100. Seems like a racket of "substance". Interesting stick.

Oh, and I met suppawat too.

Sorry, I think AG600 4D specs are not posted yet.

You can actually look for racquet specs on tennis.com using their racquet finder.

Not too sure myself, either, I think I prefer the current paintjob - and since I have 4 of those, it'll be a while before I face the decision.

The fat beam on the Legend looks ugly. 100 looks great!

I wish they would get the info on these new sticks on their website. I play with the 4D 500 Tour. Great racquet! I would love to try the 4D300 Tour but their has to be alot of difference in the power of these two racquets. The 200Tour sounds interesting but who knows if it will be available in the United States.

More swingweight, I guess?

My leaded-up AG100 feels like it has more "substance" than a stock model, IMO.

Flex Rating on TW

Lower SW, more flexible, more hl -> lower powered. AG100 4d needs to come with a free pack of lead ...

The stiffness rating on TW for the AG100 is 62. Can someone explain how this is different from the flex rating of 67 for the AG100 according to USRSA numbers? Thanks.

I'm used to heavier racquets but geez when I demoed the Dunlop 200 I thought that was a tad heavy and no need for lead. I have a pro-staff 6.0.
And then they come up with a tour version. I suppose if you handle the specs it might be a top notch weapon. However, I'm not a big fan of companies coming out with two different racquets like that. Call them by a different name because it cheapens the others. Ex- Dunlop Ag 300, great racquet, no need for a tour version. There are a lot of people out there who will get the Tour version when the other would be just fine and better suited for their play.

May Dunlop never come out with a Tour 100.
