New Dunlop sx 300 2025

Racquet guys posted a review and his was 311sw strung, but sounded like the increased stiffness compensates and keeps it simultaneously stable but whippy…we shall see
Yeah I’ve hit mine twice now. There’s no tip weight but tons at 3 and 9 so it’s not very whippy yet also hard to hit a heavy ball. I added 5g at 12 which helped a ton. After that mod it’s probably the closest I’ve tried to the almighty PA98 but it’s missing the sauce. Prob need to try other string setups to get the right feel. OToro not quite doing it for me this time.

I've been fortunate to have played with this frame for the last couple of weeks. Dunlop may be on to something special with this one. The increased stiffness adds something unique to the racquet and counteracts the low SW. It feels solid with an increase in pop from the previous gen. Easy to rip the ball and trust the flight path. The racquet shined at the net with easy maneuverability and stable enough to knock off volleys with pace. The string setup will likely take some adjusting as I am still trying to dial it in. Overall, this is a fantastic racquet and would highly recommend to any level. Also, the cosmetics are even better in person. Beautiful!

SX300 or SX300 Tour?

Swingweight and Twistweight! Thanks!
It was already too late for me last night.
The frames (300 Tour) were supposed to be 305g and weighed between 304.19 and 307.19g.
The SW was from 275.4 to 280.6 (measured with Head 3-1).
The TW 4x at 11.6 once 11.8 and once 12.0.
The balance was from 315.4mm to 317.6mm.
Everything was on target.
The RA was +5 points compared to the previous model (measured with my RDC).
I have to increase the SW to 304 anyway, so a nice basis.
All data is unstrung and with the stupid grip finish ring that I can now remove.

+5 RA...woah. Thanks for the stats!

I think Dunlop has lost it with this sub 310 strung SW stuff. The new CX line is so anaemic you have to add load of lead, which in turn pumps up the overall weight too high. My CX 200 weighs now 340g strung with desired sw and balance, and the twist weight is still horrible.

My SX 300 Tour from the previous generation has no additional lead and an sw of 326 strung (with 1.25 poly). But I don't like it as it feels too stiff with zero dwell time. I won't be giving this new one even a try. Or I might if someone handed over one for try.

It is strange that swing weights are extremely low on some of these new Dunlops.. they need to offer heavier grommets.. a mere 3 gram addition would increase the swing enough..

Yeah but the problem is that also increases the overall static weight. And not all people want that.

3 gram increase to the grommet set can easily be offset by removing the grip collar.
Or by using a lighter overgrip.. based on the assumption that one uses an overgrip.

Patrick Mouratoglou on the cardboard insert? Really?

Is there really nobody on ATP/WTA playing with SX300?
To be fair to the guy he has much more presence in social media and people's awareness than a average top50-100 player. People love a good influencer ;) .

EDIT: Also it kind of makes sense to have a famous coach tell his opinion on a racquet. People usually ask their club coach for racquet advice for them personally. Why not use that "relationship" in marketing as well?

Talking about the cosmetics, of the the new Dunlop and E Zone’s, most of my clients liked both frames.
I don’t mind them either. The Yonex had this powder light blue trying to be purple, it somewhat looks feminine in colour tone, while this new Dunlop paint design complements the paint scheme of the current CX models which I think are great feeling frames:
I haven’t yet tried the SX but will shortly and report back.
Just in parting I think the Dunlop paint schemes look better than the Yonex ones. The V Core with it’s colour tone combination of the red, blue and black look a bit non complementary, the white sand colour way I think looks a lot better. The Percept paint texture I think looks good new but I don’t think it is ageing well so let’s see how the E Zone’s go.

Paint-job looks slightly like the MAX 400i glossy. Bit more blue in the green though.

I'm really curious about these. Saw them in the shop yesterday but I'm not to keen to play in the extreme cold right now.

Okay got my hands on one, strung with PT Rev 1.20 and 307 sw points. Feels good in hand, can't wait to try it.
Tried the sx300 tour. Underwhelming experience. It felt underpowered. Impact was a bit wobbly, not solid at all. Almost like it was losing the collision with the ball. Maybe I'm exaggerating but the overall response of the stringbed was weak.

Anyways, I could impart enough spin and launch angle seemed slightly higher than my pro staffs and extreme pro's (which I sold). The feel was fine, although it's not in the league of pro staff or gravity by any means. I'll have to play more to get a sense of the feel but for now feels very vanilla, no jarring sensations. I really like the design, color and grip shape but I'll have to try again when I have a chance to hit with one with more head weight (325sw+).

It's a shame to be honest. I'm looking for a comfortable PA98 but I don't want something this flimsy.

The swingweight could be around 315 or even lower from the specs I am seeing.I have 3 PA98 with 317sw strung. Needless to say i added lead at 12 to bring them up to 330.

100%. I'm sure if I restring this demo with 1.25 guage poly and insert a thick dampener the sw could be pushed to 310-313, but it's still not in my range. I don't want to swing out my socks to create something with substance.

I've been using the new SX300 for a few days and must say I absolutely love it. Firstly I must admit I really like the new colours. It's different and really stands out! Secondly I found it super easy to use and generate spin. It comes into its own at the net, very stable and maneuverable. Winning for me!

Can you compare it with some other racquet?

I usually play with the pure drive so it's hard to compare as they are completely different rackets with different purposes but I instantly felt a difference in spin and depth on the ball. The new SX has a very open string pattern so was expecting the ball to be hard to control but it looks like they've reduced the cross string spacing which actually made it feel more controlled with a pretty big sweet spot

Thats good to know because I was somewhat afraid it would be super open like PA19 for example.

Oh man, does the Dunlop marketing team suck! Fire them all! A new model just released and except Mouratoglou(rofl) there is not a single review from top tennis racket reviewers.

I’ve tried the new one and last gen. It’s not a bad racquet but I don’t see the point of using it unless it comes down to price point. The PA and Extreme are just better overall IMO. Only reason to use this is if you like old school stiff feeling. The new one feels even stiffer than last gen.

Nah, was just thinking about this during tonight’s match. They got this guy to endorse the FX for AO, what a strange decision with a new model coming out at around the same time. lol.
Well he switched, they didn't "get him to endorse it"

Surely for the untrained eye of the general public, Dunlop can still “paint” his switched FX with the new SX PJ… if they really wanted to sell their products. lol.
Weird marketing.

Not really, if hes actually using an FX500 then they may as well promote an actual frame - if they painted an FX like an SX people would see the very clear paintjob and assume the SX is bad equally

For sure I can’t understand why manufacturers just don’t ship racquets immediately to reviewers. Get one to TennCom and he will review it immediately. He has complained often that its hard to get racquets close to launch. Just spend $100 or whatever the manufacturing cost is and send them to these influencers. Get people talking about them. They aren’t going to bash them too harsh, even though they aren’t huge fans.
