New Dunlop sx 300 2025

I recently bought myself the previous (2022) generation because of 55% discount. I play with Pure Aero 2016 and i absolutely love it. The only thing why i am considering switching is because my wrist cant gel with Babolat racquets for whatever reason (i played with PD2021, Pure Aero VS, Pure Aero 98 and now PA2016).
What i can say about SX 300 2022 is that it's an amazing racket. Many people online claim that it's a copy of Pure Aero. But it's not that simple, at least from my perspective. Yes, it's similar in a way and to me they are quite interchangeable but they are not the same rackets! To me PA is a power and spin racket while SX300 is an all rounder racket with an emphasis on spin. I can still generate the same level of spin with SX 300 but at the same time it allows me to play a much more versatile tennis compared to PA2016. It's better at control, it's better at net and it's better on flat groundstrokes. SX300 to me is a perfect combination of the old school power- control rackets (RF97, PS97) and modern power-spin rackets like PA. And this makes it a hidden gem to me! At the same time i am pretty sure that it's not for everyone and not everyone will unlock it. Below is my assessment per category:

Comfort: SX>PA2016. This one is the most subjective because SX300 feels stiffer and firmer but the dampening system works magic, helping you to stay connected to the ball but at the same time protecting your arm. It reminds me of my beloved RF97A - super firm but comfortable. I have zero wrist issues after playing with it though if you mishit with it, you definitely feel it during a match.
Spin: Same
Power: PA2016>SX300. But here you need to be aware that my PA is 335 SW and SX is 326 (customized with 2g of lead at 12:00).
Control: SX300>PA2016
Serve: SX300>PA2016.
Touch: SX300
Feel: Same. Depends what you like. SX300 is firm, crisp and connected to the ball like old school rackets (prestige, gravity pro 2021, head speed mp 2022 etc). PA2016 is muted. I like both feelings and it depends on a day i play tennis.

Note: To me personally, i feel that reviews of SX300 are very miss-leading and it seems that most of the people who review it cant simply unlock this frame and appreciate what it offers. When i hit it in stock (mine was a almost on spec with 297g unstrung and 320 SW strung) i found it very unstable on my backend side. But just 2g of lead at 12:00 fixed this issue and transformed this racket to smth that i truly enjoy playing with.

Both PA and Sx300 are strung with Yonex Poly Tour Rev 1.25 mains and Alu Power 1.25 crossess. Tension 21.5/20.5kg

Played two more matches with SX300 2021 today and i am switching to it from my PA2016. To me SX is superior in every category except for power but i can generate it myself when i need it. This stick allows me to play a very versatile tennis with lots of sharp angles and great directional control. It’s a hidden gem

Are you referring to the 100sq inch standard SX300 or the 98sq inch tour?

Good review

100. Still playing with it and still loving it so much! It suits my style very well. I bought myself two more rackets. I also bought the bag. So after almost 2 years of racket testing, i am finally done with the search and i am committing to this racket. I cant be more than happy because this journey was quite painful and pricey.

To me it’s if RF97A and PA2016 had a baby. It has this solid feel and similar (no racket has the same level of stability) stability of RF97A (with lead as i mentioned above) and this fun spinny part of Pure Aero. Fantastic combination. I had to bash from baseline with PA, because it did not give me confidence at net but with SX300 i started to attack the net much more often now which makes my tennis very dangerous.

I wish more people could appreciate what Dunlop offers. I have never tried their rackets but after testing and playing with so many rackets, i truly appreciate Dunlop’s product development. I assume they dont spend that much money on marketing and most of their investments go into product development, making their rackets really good but without much adoption and popularity compared to other brands. This is probably the reason why i always avoided this brand.

So subjective… first of all PA98 is the best racket on the market? Really? Maybe the most hyped one, then i would agree. Owned both PAVS and PA98 and they are sluggish, stiff, uncomfortable rackets. Sold both quite fast.

Secondly, the feel is muted compared to PA98? I did not try the new 2025 version but the 2022 is very crisp and connected to the ball. My current PA2016 and all the babolat rackets i owned (PD2021, PAVS, PA98, PA2023) are muted rackets. I am not saying it’s bad by the way, i actually dont mind muted rackets but calling SX300 muted compared to PA98…. I dont know… once again, maybe the new 2025 version.

I am confident that if this racket was not Dunlop but had a brand shield called “Babolat” his and his folks’ scores would have been much higher. Dunlop needs to sort out their marketing approach. The product is great (but once again, i am talking about the 2022 version).

They seemed to quite like it by the end.
