Surprised I didn't see a post here yet....so The Ice and such is going away. Brand new stuff rolling out. The thing that most stuck out to me is thisnew hybrid poly-syn string they made. it's called like "polyistomer" or something. its apparently like mushing poly and syn together into one string. So you get both worlds in one string. Felt pretty stiff but lively in my hands. funny names too.

Is Gamma going to keep Gamma Professional gauge 17?
I am very concerned

I don't really care for Gamma strings now.... And that nuclear construction marketing crap is a bigger joke than Cortex...

yes its more marketing than anything but seeing that new isotmer string it definitely is a hybrid between poly and syn gut. its not a string i have ever felt before.how it plays is to be determined

I wouldn't be surprised if TOA is already marketing that string outside the US under their own name, at half the price, the way they do ZoVerve(Devil Spin) and Asterisk.

Actually, it is not. Many a year ago, an engineer discovered that if you hit certain plastics with gamma radiation, you could re-align certain parts of the polymers and make them more durable. A particular gentleman decided that it would be interesting to apply to tennis strings. A company was made (more or less it already existed, but this put them on the map in Europe), and was named after the initial breakthrough. The same technology is applied to other hard coatings like polyurethane for flooring.

So I'm going to get cancer..... great.....

Thanks for the info, even from you I'm hesitant to trust it.... Either way, whatever, I'm not convinced even after playing with it. It isn't my cup of tea.

Do you have a source? Other than the Gamma website.

I like Gamma Supreme overgrips. The rest of their stuff sucks canal water.

Yeah the gso are goat, but I was pleasantly surprised with one of their red poly strings that was in a raq I got off the classifieds, zo tour maybe. There multi prof.spin is overated/priced imo and that flat syn/poly string I playtested was the absolute worst ever.

Learned about this in a nuclear engineering course. Here is the patent for the polyurethane coating process which is what came first:
http://www.google.com/patents/US4321307

You can see the referenced patent there. Polyurethane coatings are used on many, many tennis strings (two modern examples being Prince Premier and Tec. X-1). It is no coincidence that Gamma is still today known for its synthetic strings only.

That said, it is sort of like Saab claiming their cars are born from jets since at one point they made aircraft.

The string you're referring to is being marketed in 2013 as "Gamma RZR Rx"

It is said to have a "unique oval shape"

Do you need a prescription to buy it. Hyuk, hyuk. :)

Hey man, I'll be trying out Gamma Pro next month. Got a good post Thanksgiving deal on a set.

Well. Looks like gamma is at it again,,,
gamma jet!
rough twisted string
Not much talk yet, any one have info?
https://gammasports.com/products/tennis/strings/polyester/jet-copy/

Got to try this not long ago, played it for about a week, off and on,,
Stringing was normal for a ridgit poly
16L dark.blue color
its a twisted gear shape poly, can def. Feel it on the fingers as expected, but nothing like a ruff string..
coil memory high, as expected with twisted strings
strung in at 49/46lbs
1st day, stiff, I expected this, no unusual discomfort after, did not get a good sense of extra spin,, strings felt heavy
2nd day, same, stiff, no adfitional pop, nothing eciting about it except the color
3rd day started to get a little boardy,, again, nothing exiting about it,
After a couple more days of this, I cut them out
I did not see any excessive movement or notching on the string, nor did it snap when I cut them out
medium to low power poly im thinking
durability being its target,, prov. Would do ok on a spin effect racquet
I personally did not like it, but maybe some one else can review with their thoughts

Ok so I played a couple sets with Jet mains in the green color with PP intense heat crosses. So far I can’t say I’m a fan of this combo. The launch angle is crazy high and kinda unpredictable. The feel is also pretty board but that is probably the PP strings. It took me a whole warm up and set to dial in my ground strokes. The thing I liked most though was the slice and slice serves. My slice serve was giving my opponent fits. I’ll probably play one more match with it then cut it out. I still have a half set so I’m not sure what to do with it. I’m thinking either cross it with GhostWire or Diadem Evolution. If anyone has a request let me know! Cheers.

@JOSHL
i would try that string with the thinnest poly you got
agree, its boardy, dead feeling, good spin
i would try to maximise the spin, which seems to be its saving attribute,
by using g.jet mains/thin.poly cross, youll allow for more snapback and better grip on the ball
btw, i would also do 2 or 3 lbs less on the cross
