New Limited Edition Babolat Players Stick?

FederScare

New User
Heard from a VERY reliable source that Babolat are bringing out a limited edition players stick with a straight narrow beam, along the lines of a classic Wilson Pro-Staff (I haven't seen it, so this is based upon my source's description)

I know Babolat have brought out limited sticks before, in 2000 - but this seems like it is a departure from their usual style of stick.

Wondered if anyone out there in forum-land knew anything about this? Apparently it's due to land in Europe in around 3 months time......

I hope this limited edition line offers enough "plow through", hits a "heavy ball" with "scalpel like precision", along with "buttery" feel. Oh, and 90 sq in. head + leather grip.

I use Pure Storm Tour, which was why my source was telling me about this - he said it was pretty similar kind of vibe but more "classic" in terms of construction.

This sense checks pretty well. Does anyone have any specs on this stick?

Cheers!:)

I just want to know whether I can get a thinner beam version of the Pure Storm (ideally with a smaller head) - The photo isn't giving me much hope!

Well it wouldn't be a player's racquet with those specs would it? I don't think they'd sell many racquets with the specs you're looking for.

There is the PS6.1 Classic extended. It had about a 70 stiffness, 18x20 pattern and was 28."

i'm hoping to have some details early next week. A friend is a rep. who went to a national sales meeting this week. I sent him the picture of the kid and he said that there may be some truth to the rumor and he'd give me the details as soon as he knew them.

There was the Prince Precision Equipe MP Longbody too. 95 head, 28" length, 72 flex and 22mm frame. I've got one I cut down to 27.5. Nice frame. It was basically Prince's clone of the PS Classic 6.1

That PJ looks like something before the Woofers came out. It kind of looks like the original pure drive.

I think it's obviously based on the current Storm PJ. I'm really curious about this. I play with the pure storm tour and would probably buy one of these for comparison in an instant.

Would you call the Pure Control Plus a player's racket? How about the Pure Drive Plus? Nah, those didn't sell at all  ...

Aww man, now I can't use the "This will happen as soon as Babolat releases an 18x20 string pattern racquet" analogy anymore...

Those specs look very good. I have been arguing for a Babolat players sticks for a few years now...and those specs fit the bill. The racket in the picture is an 18x20 as well...its the beam that I think is cool.

A lot of rackets are entering prestige MP territory. Very interesting...there are now 4 18x20's offered by Wilson in varying weights, 3 from HEAD in varying weights and head sizes, and 2 from Prince. Of course that is just the big 3, there are a number of other smaller companies out there offering 18x20's as well.

Now Babolat has been added to the mix. I did not enjoy the pure storm/control line...but with a 19 mm beam this racket is going to have a less boxy bulky feel which should give it some nice flex characteristics. The weight range is also quite good, and can be easily modified for those who want heavier a heavier stick. I would add a leather grip which would push the weight over 12 oz...and then a few strips at 3 and 9.

It is essentially my k95 18x20 with a thinner beam...

I am having some internal conflicts about this...I actually WANT to try this racket...after playing with nearly every Babolat available, I have never had that feeling afterwards...in short I have only moderately liked a few Babolat's, but never enough to actually buy one.

These specs are within my perfect racket range however...adda leather grip and its ready to go.

those specs are confirmed. I received an email from my friend who is a rep. He said they would be available in April, however.

This looks very interesting. A thin beamed Babolat with a dense string pattern. Anyone know what the flex is? I'm gonna have to get me one of these.

Babolat released an 18x20 pattern racquets some years ago, the Aero Tours LTDs, one of the predisesors to the Aero Pros. I do not think they will make the same mistake again and have an 18x20 pattern in an 70+ stiffness racquet. I would guess the Pure Storms to be between 60 and 65 in stiffness.

Ok, I just talked with my rep friend and the new limited will have a flex of 65 and it will come equipped with a leather grip. Babolat is releasing 3 other racquets in April too.
The other one is going to be called the Aero Storm Tour and it will be a 10.6 ounce version of the Aero Storm. The other two racquets didn't interest me much so we didn't talk about them. One is the Aero Strike 9.7 oz.

So the tour version of the aero storm is going to be much lighter than the standard? Looks like they got it backwards on this one.

babolat pure storm limited ....

to really make this an ideal racquet, babolat needs to make it a 12+ ounce stick without strings. i love babolat racquets.. particularly the pure control 2003 and the new pure storm tour ... but they BOTH need more heft to make them incredible out of the box.

i lead up mine quite a bit, but would be nice for the purist in me to
have a 12+ ounce racket much like wilson (k-factor, six-one classic, n-code six one, head (prestige), fischer (mcomp 95) and prokennex (redondo) have learned.

yeah we heard that there should be a more heavy and thinner storm coming out soon, as well as a lighter aero storm for some reason! all i heard from our rep in the uk

True oh so True, and if they are going to venture over 12 ounces like with the aerosotrm they need to make them at least 8 pts head light, none of this 5 pts business that is pure h e double l on the wrist! Not to mention why does nearly every babolat racquet have to be from 10.8 to 11.8 ounces alot of other companies do really well having a whole line up of sticks over 12 ounces- ie Wilson. I really like the aerostorm with leathergrips and an overgrip and a 16 g string, but it would be nice to buy a babolat racquet and not have to customize it to death to get more of a player's frame!

That's Ryan's younger brother Christian. I want to say he's 13 now. I haven't seen them since I moved to Montana but as we all know they ARE our promising juniors as Ryan made it to the semi finals of the Junior Australian Open this year. Christian was playing with lots of different unpainted sticks last year. Him and his brother used to be with Wilson then went to Babolat's when they went to Newk's and Ryan now is with Wilson again. Cheers.

You mean you lead up a PST or a PC 2003 or something else? If you're leading up a PST I'd be curious to know what you put and where...
