New Nike Lunar Court Ballistec. January release?

So they look a little like moon boots, but Rafa has been practicing with them for the past 2 months. Does anyone have any additional info on these, besides that they will be released in the January area?

I'm talking about keeping the O-port tech. :)

Well I think the O-port are pretty well received, just that some people don't like them because those frames eat strings like nothing.

I'm talking about about Nike being lazy and just releasing Vapor "9.5", and Wilson's terrible attempt to retro-up the nCode design scheme.

I am an almost 40 yr old fan of funky looking shoes (and sometimes loud colors) but these are FUGLY!!! I have played bball all my life and these are just like a few of their bball designs that just won't look right on a tennis court (which I've also played for most of my life). I just got my first pair of Asics and I love them. I guess I'll support Asics next year too.

Nike have done well to do away with the "air" cells in the heel. The whole air thing is nothing but a gimmick that tied into the Jordan campaign back in the mid eighties. What a joke the air is. :-)

I agree with your point but your delivery is off. They've kept "air", it's good tech. The gimmick is "air max", with the exposed air bubble windows that pop and lack stability.

I disagree. I don't think air is good technology. I think air is old antiquated technology, that Nike stuck with because A.its a marketable idea B. They patented it C. It fits in with Air Jordan. But air in itself is too rigid in the pocket form that Nike uses it. Simple foam or soft gel like materials are way better in reality. Again, it's just an old gimmick and sales ploy that worked so unbelievably well, that Nike is and was reluctant to get rid of. $$$$ cash over substance

I tend to disagree, I feel nike implements its air tech quite well. also you note that foam and gel are better materials yet you forget their limitations of being heavier than the air bag

Au contrare mon frere. Forget, heaven forbid! I have given the air pockets much thought over the last few months, and I assure you that they are a useless gimmick, that are only there for show. And subsequently only end up causing the shoe to become redundant twice as fast because of the air pocket punctures. Air is an old ploy, that I am glad to see is not going to be used on my favorite tennis shoes for 2014. And I'm glad to see Nike allowing this to happen. They are finally allowing for a little substance over design. :-) I am of course referring to these new Ballistecs, and the Vapors which already are not using air. And ironically designed by Tinker Hatfield himself. The architect of the Air Jordan legacy.

Vapors do have air. It's not Air Max but Zoom Air. It's still an air bubble but it's not exposed. You have to dissect the shoe to get to the pocket. I think the technology is supposed to provide a sleeker looks with the cushion effect that Air Max has.

With all due respect, you can't really disagree when you don't have the facts. As I already explained, not everything is Air "Max." Zoom Air IS in the V9s and it is a low profile version of Air Max and does NOT have have exposed air windows so does not burst (unless you stand on a nail). If you try Zoom Air and don't like it that's your call, but you need to make sure you know what you're on about.

I run in Asics and Mizuno and play tennis in Adidas, but I still think Nike makes some good shoes and I buy them from time to time. Sounds like you don't like the company which is fine, but it makes subjectivity impossible.

It's so the profile of the midsole can be lower, thus foot closer to the ground.

Fair enough. Im on about that absolute joke of an air window placed in the sole. And for the record i only buy Nike. I just dont care for the three decade old air window gimmick. And that bubble is finally starting to burst.. pun intended. As for using the air inside the sole. I am fully on board for that. That shows that they are using the tech in the right way. For use. not just eye candy. I love Nike. Now if they can address a high top tennis shoe, to take care of all the poor sods like Roddick, Murray, and Isner just to name a few, that wear those awful ankle bracelets on the courts, we would really be forging ahead. Nike if you get to see this thread, call me for advice.

I think if you're going to be rolling ankles, then you'll be rolling ankles. I don't believe fabrics, however woven or braided or processed can withstand the forces generated by the joint in the event of instability. So here's my take on the whole ankle brace thing.

I could not disagree more. A good high top with perhaps a strap for extra support is a huge help in keeping the ankle supported. I have worn high top bb shoes my whole life and they are hands down way better with ankle support. Just in tennis it's a tradition of sorts to wear low shoes. We need to engineer tennis high tops which will stiffen the outer ankle, and at the same time have more flex for the inner part of the ankle, to promote sliding. Nike if you are listening call me. Lol.

That's basically Nike's Lunarlon cushioning in two words. If you don't like Air Max you could just wear the Lunar Ballistecs when they come out. Or you could look on the bay for some Lunar Vapor 8 Tours.

I was wondering if anyone knows if these will have the uni-tongue system like all previous ballistecs or are they going to go to a vapor like tongue? Or rather the tongue Nadal actually uses.

I hope they keep the tongue or go back to the 1.3 tongue.

The Nike Lunar Courtballistec will not be released until early January 2014 (the 1st I believe), so you’ll have to wait. But I’m certain the Tennis-Warehouse.com will have pre-order dates listed on their site, so you should check there from time to time. The retail price for the Nike Lunar Courtballistec is listed at $165, kind of a lot if you ask me.

Every year the shoes go up a little more. :-/

When the CB 4.3s came out, I remember they were slated for a 1/1 release, but they had them on Nike.com earlier so I ordered from them. :-)

I am excited for the LunarBallistecs. I liked the Lunar Vapor 8s enough to get a few pairs of those.

I feel like a guy like Isner, who already wears braces on his ankles, could market a mid top tennis shoe pretty well. Guys would try it.
